So many people talk about the fetishization of goth people and queer people but I haven't seen anybody talk about how fetishized the neurodivergent community sometimes is. I am neurotypical so maybe I'm just being an internet warrior and this doesn't actually bother that community, but I see so many memes or reels saying "need me a bad bitch with autism" or "fumbled an autistic baddie" or "can get titties anywhere, can't get autism like this anywhere else", and it's just like...why? Autism makes people's lives incredibly difficult. Autism is something people struggle with and have to deal with every day of their lives, and these neurotypicals online are just using it as a word to replace "quirky" or "weird". And sexualizing it! I know a lot of people with autism are proud of that part of themselves despite its challenges, so maybe it's good that it's being more appreciated online, but I just feel like the online appreciation is less loving and more...lusting? Like what do you MEAN you prefer women with autism; is that some kind of power dynamic?? I don't know; I understand neurodivergent people wanting to date other neurodivergent people but I can't see any reason neurotypicals would specifically want to date autistic people if they didn't have some kind of ill intentions or mischaracterizations. I think a lot of it is neurotypicals seeing someone conventionally attractive and quirky, being proud of their autism online (and there are a lot of posts like that too), and thinking that's how those with autism are. Essentially just considering them hot since they're nerds without the negative connotations of being a nerd, and knowing autistic is more dramatic of a word than unique or dorky, which is what they really mean. I just feel like all these memes-while lighthearted-play into stereotypes that people with autism are all weird or nerdy or incredibly knowledgeable or just something to look at or be with. Again though, I have no idea how either community feels about this because I've never seen anyone talk about it. It just seems a little fetish-y sometimes.

just finished season 8 episode 9 of big mouth and i love how at the beginning they mentioned that the viewers have often said big mouth is like the sex ed they never got and honestly? same. i've learned SOOOO much more abt sex ed from big mouth than i ever have at any point in school which is violently upsetting to me.

I wish Big Mouth had did something with the cannibal twins in the final season. They really just never went anywhere with it besides jokes about them being cannibals.

Major Big Mouth Season 8 Spoilers here but does anyone else feel like it was completely glossed over that Jessi had a problem with the stuff Camden was watching online? Like, I know Coco came to earth and helped Jessi have compassion for Camden after freaking out at him, but that really only started a conversation. The couple talked ONCE and not even about the problem; they just talked about how they were feeling when they reacted to it. They didn't actually solve or agree on anything or set any boundaries at all. It was literally JUST about their fight from it. It really sends the wrong message to people who don't want their partners watching things like that, as if the show is saying it's just something to express your feelings on and then begrudgingly accept. I feel that until then Big Mouth always did really well with relationships and communication and boundaries so maybe it was just being rushed because it was the last season? But idk it felt like a pretty important thing to skip over and I'm seeing all this love everywhere for Jessi's new relationship even though I feel like this is a huge kind of overlooked flaw.

It's crazy how for Mike "spending romantic time with my girlfriend" has to involve kissing and making out while for Lucas "I'm spending romantic time with my girlfriend" doesn't have to and is rather more casual such as having a movie night at the mall although they are accompanied by two of their friends.

Then when they're all in the cinema, Lucas and Max are next to each other and Mike and Will are next to each other. So if for Lucas, spending romantic time with his partner is a casual thing like going to watch a movie, then for byler it was also romantic time.

Mike has to be explicit about his "love" towards El.

It was so important to me that Stolas was able to be sad throughout the entire episode. Usually media likes to rush a character's grief/depression/sadness. Like "Stop moping around" or "get over it already." Depression doesn't just go away. It is a persistent feeling of sadness.

His depression was also presented through various emotions/emotional states.

Lethargy

Crying

Anger / frustration

Self-blame

Not wanting company and being emotionally drained and unable to reciprocate

We even see him Smiling / Laughing which is so important because we see that he is still in there behind the sadness and tears. His laugh is not as lively as it once but he is still capable of smiling and finding joy.

His problems weren't fix in the end and his sadness didn't go away even if he has someone who loves him by his side (and even if he loves him too). And I think this is one of the best depictions I have seen of a depressed character in media in a long time.

I really love how they annihilated two of the biggest anti-Stolitz takes in a way that felt very organic to the story. Brandon’s muffled screams were absolutely heart-wrenching. Stolas really IS his heart. I don’t think he’s ever been angrier about ANYTHING than he was when Andrealphus assumed he’d hurt Stolas. Take that!
