He puts his hands on his hips and stares sternly at the kitty.

[Well, the Hatter's reaction was clearly not what he expected. Was it even possible to predict how this man would react in any case?]

Oh no, I've only been a cat for almost 80 years so I haven't been to wonderland since around 200 years ago and that was when I was still human.

[Human and already setting his eyes on world domination, which clearly went wrong or he wouldn't be here right now.]

Suddenly Hatter picks the hat up from the ground, using a plate to keep the cat inside.

“It’s a Cat in the Hat!”

He then takes the hat off and throws the plate.

And off it goes, down the hall, flying on a saucer. Hatter puts his hat back on, shaking his head when tea starts dripping from it.

“Kitty put tea in my hat. What an annoying feline.”

[Salem couldn't do much to escape from this and apparently he was now trapped inside the hatter's hat. This would be a perfect time to have magic but having no magic was quite sad.]

Hey. I think you caught the wrong cat, sir. You see, I am a human who got transformed into a cat, that's why I talk!

[Salem knew that normal reasons wouldn't work with a madman but he didn't lose anything by trying, right?]

Oh, Cat, your case isn’t looking very good for you. I will save this evidence for your court case.

After your sentencing, of course!”

Hatter slowly starts pouring old tea into the side of his hat via a large funnel. What a wonderful punishment for a cat!

“Verdict delivered first, then sentencing, then finally presentation of evidence!”

[Things started to get weird when suddenly he started smelling like tea in there.]

Wait, are you dropping tea? Don't you have at least catnip?

You're MAD! Oh... wait a minute... mad... and this way of talking and this... [Salem scratched the inside of the hat with his paws.] oh dear...

[Salem realized what sort of mess this meant but he couldn't do much without Sabrina's help anyway so this was going to be quite the unlucky ride.]

Hatter glares at the feline walking smugly down the hall. He has a problem with cats. The most prominent cat in Wonderland is very rude, and incredibly mad!

He sneaks up behind the black cat and throws his hat over it.

“AHA! That’s what you get for being a cat!”

[Salem didn't get what was going on but then everything went dark and he couldn't understand still.]

What's going on? Did the witches council decided to punish me even more?

[Salem started sobbing while inside the hat because that's how his drama reactions always ended.]

Woah.

While she knew someone was there, she didn’t expect it to be a… talking cat.

A talking CAT.

Canaan drops down and crouches in front of the talking cat, and pokes it.

“It’s real,” she says as she proceeds to do what everyone does to cats: pet them, stroke them, scratch their ears.

It sure doesn’t look young. Its fur sure doesn’t feel young, either.

Canaan completely forgets about asking for tips for cat’s cradle as she strokes the cat. She briefly wonders if she should meow at it. Maria certainly would have.

Hey wait what are yo- Oh yes, my ears feel nice.

[Salem got lost in the feeling of having his ears scratched and being pet since not many people did lately. After a few seconds he regained his mind and talked again.]

Wait NO! I might be a cat, but I still have dignity!... Could you just scratch me a bit more behind my left ear?

[For being a cat with dignity, he had no problem asking to be treated as pet sometimes.]

“Oh.” His explanation was definitely a bit unexpected… and confusing. Though it did explain some things even if it triggered a bunch of new questions for her to ask. “Sorry about… being delicate.” She retorted, almost sounding as if she took the word ‘delicate’ seriously.

Then the word mortal caught her attention more than anything and she sighed. “Silly cat, I’m not even a mortal.” She gave the black cat a light pat on the head. It sure felt weird to give pat another cat… “But I guess since you told me your story, it was time to tell you mine.”

Maybe she was a bit disappointed that he was turned into a cat than actually being one in the first place… but he lived more than three times longer than her. Who knew how long he had spent being a cat.

“I was a cat.” She sighed. “And as a result of an experiment I…” Pausing, Shijima tried to find the right words to say. She never actually had to explain it to someone before. Kouichi took on that role, but the guy wasn’t here. “… became like this and I… can’t die.” That was pretty much it, really. Oh, right! Even if they both weren’t exactly humans, she still remembered that it was easier if two people that just met introduced each other. “I’m Shijima Kurookano and my job is to observe what’s around me.”

Oh, well being unable to die isn't that bad you know. You get to meet all sort of interesting people from all over the world and from different times. Plus you don't have to worry about getting wrinkles.

[Salem tried to be serious for a moment and even perhaps failed miserably with his comment since he was pretty fond of his immortaility as a warlock.]

And don't you get tired of just "observing"? I mean, I judge people all the time but even I get bored of doing that at times.

[Perhaps again off from the point, he replied with whatever was in his mind. It was a wonder how someone such as him was able to almost conquer the world.]

She mumbled the last buts, feeling as though she wanted to strangle her Spanish teacher for being so mean. No, Mary, behave yourself, you’re in school! Leaning back, she sucked in a heavy bit of breath before regaining composure. Not today, bad thoughts.

“Sorry, Mr. Teacher cat!!! … I don’t really have a great grandpa, or any grandpa, really.”

[Salem ignored completely the gir'ls claim on him being rude since he was pretty self-centered already and being a teacher now didn't help to this, but her claims of not having a grandpa made him confused.]

Oh, do you mean that your grandpa's already passed away? Well, in mortal's standards that's pretty normal. But do not worry, he should be now in a better place, or drinking Mai Tais in Hawaii.

[Grandpas aside, now Salem was wondering why wasn't he actually being in Hawaii and drinking tropical drinks while bathing in the sun while just chillin' and doing nothing else.]

cat's cradle [intro/open]

A finger here, a finger through there, pull that string, hold it there.

That wasn’t the best way to start school.

As a mercenary, Canaan is given many different kinds of assignments, mostly dirty assassination work. It’s the best kind of work for a lone soldier like her, after all.

Recently, she was given a target: Ryougi Shiki, a teacher in a place called Tancho Academy.

Complicated fingerwork. Concentrate.

Getting into and infiltrating the school wasn’t the problem. The problem was the target, and she discovered it too late. Next thing she knew, she was on the ground, knife pointed to her throat, and Ryougi Shiki was making her enroll into Tancho Academy as a student.

Speaking of which, this period is Self-Defense, the class that the Ryougi Shiki is teaching. Maybe it isn’t such a good idea to be skipping it.

But Canaan isn’t even used to the concept of classes or even school.

Pull it with this finger. The cat’s cradle falls apart.

Canaan bites onto the stick of sugar sticking out of her mouth, almost breaking it.

“Argh! I can’t concentrate at all!”

She senses someone approaching from underneath the tree she’s been fiddling around with the red string on.

She swings down, and faces the newcomer upside down.

“Hey, do you know about cat’s cradle?”

[After a nice can of tuna, Salem had decided to take a walk through the school as a little exercise to avoid getting fat. Being a fat cat was no joke for him since he had once been there and it was quite a pain to wokrout and diet at the hands of the spellman family who would make sure he wouldn't cheat on his diet and no matter how hard he tried to ask, they wouldn't let him eat more than what was enough and made sure that he returned to his original form. As he was walking through the garden, suddenly a woman moved from one of the branches of a tree and hung from there upside down making Salem jump on the spot.]

Hey! What are you implying? I know I'm still young but I don't need a craddle!

[Anyone who knew Salem's age wouldn't exactly call him young but in his standards it was still in his youth and primer age yet he was here, as a cat and teaching mortals at a school.]

Well, a witch was Shijima not. Only the result of some crazy experiments. Humans were always so selfish, doing whatever they wanted, at times beyond reasoning. But this cat here… she wondered if he had a thing such as short term memory loss. Their topic of discussion had been way off from what the black cat first asked. Since she doubted that the other cat would go on track again any time soon, Shijima decided to talk about it first. Being in human form without clothes was sure weird, but this cat didn’t seem bothered so it was no issue.

“Were you always a talking cat? Recently I have been wanting to talk in my cat form to avoid awkward situations like this but I don’t know how it would work.”

Without waiting for an answer, she stood up, before lifting the black cat up by its stomach with one hand. “Sitting on the floor like that is not comfortable as a human.” And with that, she tossed the cat on a desk as she proceeded to sit down on the chair by the desk.

[The conversation had been taking so many shifts and spins that Salem had gotten so into it that he had completely forgotten both the fact that the girl was still naked and the fact that they hadn't even properly introduced to each other.]

Hey! No need to be so "delicate"! Jeez, Sabrina used to treat me better than this -sobs-... Ah, well you see, I wasn't always this "handsome". I used to be an over 700-years old warlock but then I attempted to conquer the world and in a stupid mistake on my part was caught by the council of witches and was condemned to live a century in this form.

So since the beginning I've been able to talk like this in front of others er... well, I was supposedly not allowed to talk to mortals like this but that part of my sentence was lifted when I came to work here.

[So basically what he was saying was that he had no trouble on talking while being in that form, in any case, it was better than just going "meow meow" on people and trying to have them guess what he wanted all the time.]

Maybe Shijima overestimated this cat. After his question, the only thing that was in Shijima’s mind was possibly how DUMB the cat was. Man, it was really annoying how clothing couldn’t be part of the kinjutsu she used to change her forms between cat and human.

“…”

“But I was the cat earlier, stupid black cat.” She was never really fond of black furred cat, but towards another cat or whatever this creature was, she didn’t really had to hide something like her two forms in front of another cat. “I never talked in my cat form and you looked like you wanted to chit chat, so.”

The immortal crawled over to the cat. She lifted a hand up, wanting to pet the animal, but as her hand’s distance with the cat’s hat was really close, she decided to poke its head instead. “And for your information, no I wasn’t going to use the classroom. I’m only a student here.” At this point, she didn’t really care about not wearing clothes. No one was around anyway.

[Salem was surprised alright since he didn't know that there were people in here that could switch into cat form and back out of their own will but of course his first thought was that this woman was also a witch. The fact that she wasn't even bothered by her nakedness didn't even seem to concern him either since well... he was pretty much naked all the time as well. Salem reacted to the poke on his head by just looking at her in the eyes as if asking "was that really necessary?" but didn't speak those words.]

You're a student? Well that was an awkward mistake from my part then.

[Salem, once again, used to give more importance to the least important things in a conversation or at least most of the time.]
