Can we stop hating on bees and using pesticides that can legitimately poison them and the honey they make??? Lets stop the running words that bees are bad.
Say tomorrow all bees die. ALL of them. We would all only have like 4 years left to live with food. Bees dying would cause other animals to die in a chain reaction as they provide food sources for other animals, not just us.
That being said, bees pollinate 70 of around the 100 crop species that tend to feed around 90% of the world.
Humanity can only live 3-4 years without bees who are our main pollinator. There are about 24,000 species of bees.
Around 200-300 bees die every day. Adding up into the thousands by the end on the month. While they can repopulate quickly, we shouldnt rely on that. We as humans need to make a change with how we treat our enviroment.
Dont go hitting down bee hives when you see them. Hire a professional that will relocate them to a different area.
If you use pesticides in your garden, do research to make sure that they don't cause a threat to the bees.
Most breeds of bees only sting once then die, so they most likely will not sting unless you are posing a threat.
If you want to get your own hives, there are companies that provide low interference hives. (FlowHive is a major one) Order the bees after the last frost as the cold turns to warm. This will help avoid your bees dying off as soon as you get them because the swarm isnt big enough to group together and create enough warmth.
Please do as much research as possible before getting your bees to determine what kind of heritage you want your bees to have as certain breeds are more docile than others, plus its good to learn proper bee care before getting them rather than later. You want to have everything set up correctly and have the items you need.
Over all bees are fun to be around, their pollen pants are adorable and standing from a distance its almost mesmerizing to watch them. They wont hurt you if you dont hurt them in the majority of cases.
