cassian was born the only child of a mild-mannered farming couple set on living a quiet, peaceful life -- leading him to have the same sort of personality as a child: easygoing, reserved, not easily rattled by things. that was until he was six years old (or perhaps seven, he wasnβt sure, the memories all blur together for him now) when his father was killed, leaving himself and his mother alone in the world with only each other to look after. however, despite tragedy, life still insists on moving forward -- a lesson cassian had learned time and time again throughout his years.Β
from then on trouble always seemed to follow close behind cassian every step he took; his teenage years finding him always on the verge of arrest or punishment from authority figures, though he always managed to escape just in the nick of time. just lucky, he supposed. so lucky, actually, he hadnβt even noticed his personality had begun to harden over the years, from a gentle, quiet child to a stoic, more callous adult, able to screw over friends and collogues with ease -- but not without heartache. he truly was a sensitive person at his core, no amount of years of hardening could erase that, so every misdeed, every person he hurt, weighed heavily on his soul.
his motherβs death later in life had a strange effect on him; while his fatherβs death brought sadness, grief, and loss, his motherβs passing left him only with bitterness, and almost completely took away his own fear of death -- feeling as though it may come for him at any moment and that would be fine by him.
as an adult now living completely on his own in the world, he had come to realize his distrust for authority and penchant for crime might serve him well if he himself was the one with the authority. it was a long shot, sure, but nothing a few white lies and little smooth talking couldnβt solve; and with that, he landed himself a cozy job as a security guard. there was a bit of an identity crisis that came along with it at first, but hardly anyone really knew him anyway, so did it really matter?
HEADCANONS
cassian does not currently, nor has he ever had, many close friends. heβs had acquaintances, but never anyone heβs thought truly knows him. if anyone wants to kinda break his shell and get close to him though, thatβd be so fun
reading is his favorite pastime
his favorite type of people are those with personalities similar to K2-SO like no filter, very blunt and say anything. they contrast well with his own reserved, sensitive personality.
he likes sports but only no contact sports like tennis
i feel like he probably has a roommate? id love to plot if anyone wants to have cassian be their characterβs roommate
