we really should be calling it fanworks, not content
I'm here for fun and community not to rp a mega corporation's underpaid social media intern
I don't like getting into discourse here, however...
I'm fucking tired of the hate-fueled revisionism on the trans Community. Yeah, obviously, the term that literally means trans-attracted trans person is exclusively about trans women, sure, yeah, don't mind that isn't what it has meant since it's beggining...
Genuinely though yall, there's something extra wholesome to me about het t4t; like, yall just swapped, you can help each other out with your transitions, trade your old clothes! It's adorable and I love it and I love all of you <3
Oh it is great. My husband and I do each other's shots, and we love to celebrate things in the other that we hated in ourselves. We can also pass on knowledge we learned growing up to help make the other's life easier and pass better.
There's something beautiful in finding joy in something that caused you pain.
Loving him for being the man I could never have been, him loving me for being the girl he tried but failed so hard to be.
He helped me out so much early transition, and I'll always love him so much for that.
I bring a “there’s no meaningful difference between men and women that doesn’t exclude someone” to the function that gender essentialists hate
I think sometimes (though not all the time, of course, this is a cut towards a very specific engagement with drow) people try and highlight the way that Lolths larger oppressive structures still harm women not because they're invested in exploring the way that oppressive structures are inherently something exploitative even towards the people they seek to benefit, but instead because they are irritated that the media they have invested their time in dares to ask them to care about men from the perspective of an oppressed minority, and even more irritated people in larger fanbase dare to take that seriously. Because I think instead of the natural conclusion of this being "And if drow woman have it this bad, if the conditions of their system allow for this to happen to a woman and be startling when it does, understand how much worse the men have it," the conclusion they come to is, "And so the idea of this being a society where men are hurt consistently is one that is nullified, because woman are too. So i don't have to pay attention to that as a theme, and the things that do are overplaying the harm they encounter."
And it's like. Well. No. Because there's still a distinct class difference within the drow. For drow woman not to be harmed by the oppressive system, they have to participate within it. The act of preventing harm to the self is one in which has an inherent victim. The length of violence not only permissable but expected to be performed on drow men is still one of which is unimaginable and incomparable to real-life social structures, but is in itself still a mirroring of the real world patriarchy in a way that if you try to avoid, you end up failing to thematically understand.
Not to be a bitch but sometimes people engage with fiction in the most boring way possible, and nowhere is this clearer than in videogames. Like what you mean you hate a character just because they were kind of abrasive when speaking to the player character? "They were mean to me" and it didn't occur to you to wonder why? Like, what might their attitude toward you reveal about the world? About the social dynamics within it? About their own perspectives and backgrounds and personalities? Does it even occur you to ask? Would you only have liked them if they bowed to your presence and talked about how great you are? Like I'm sorry but you're so boring. How boring fiction would be if it cathered to you

researching the history of education in japan and learning that, pre–Meiji Restoration, peasants/commoners formed their own schools to become educated because it was the best way of fighting tax fraud.
That is, when an official told you, a rice farmer, that you owed more taxes than you really did, it was very useful if you were good enough at math to know he was lying (and could prove it) and if you were good enough at writing to write a letter to your government defending your case.
all of which is to say it's crazy that mega-corporations are now pushing education to be "what if you paid us whatever we tell you to for the rest of your life and never do math or write anything ever again"
The thing about the "all evil fictional women from myth and legend are misunderstood and in reality their story was retold to make them evil because men were afraid of their power" trend is that it's low-key also misogynistic to assume women are incapable of being terrible people purely due to being women.
a week into artfight i would like to give out the following reminders: it is okay if you thought you were going to participate but ended up not having time. it is fine if you started out enthused and then lost steam. you do not owe anyone revenges. you are not 'behind' and you are not letting anybody down. it is a silly little game for fun. do not forget this.

I feel it would be good to have a word that's like not ragebait but shamebait, where you can read a post and just go 'ah, this person just wants me to feel ashamed of myself and is not engaging with the issue in a constructive or useful way. I do not have to participate in this actually' and like. move on with your day
