Pulled into the warmth grasp of Anna’s, he had completely melted by the embrace and the strange but relieving feeling of his friend being alive. Too much had been on his conscious over the Masquerade. Even though he hadn’t been involved, he heard heartbreaking stories and he could never imagine anyone could through such incident ever again. Keeping her petite frame in the tight, loving grasp of his own, Julius had continued to hold her near while a hand rested upon the back of her neck. “I’m okay, I’m okay,” mumbled Julius, lying through his teeth but he softly sighed as his hues closed for the moment of silence around them due to the embrace. He’d do anything for Anna, having known this from their first conversation. The blonde was going to mean something to him, everything to him like family and it had shown how near, raw and loving he had found himself around her now. Like he belonged, for once belonging and being loved without a sudden burden feeling. “We’ll get through this together. Always, you and I, till the end, Anna.” He mumbled, assuring he’d never give up on her and would always be there. “No, Anna, please don’t apologize, okay? I love you, I care about you and I could never be upset,” soothed Julius, hating for her apologizing because he understood what had been going on. Losing Claire had taken a toll, emotional and physical one, wondering if he could ever properly get through this knowing what had happened. Even being here now, his thoughts wondered toward their last conversation and how he expressed his undying love for her. Those last words, making her know all of his LOVE for her had mended his broken, grieving heart. Now, he had been crumbling and trying his hardest for others. It had always been for others but he feels himself starting to loosen up around Anna. “I’m here, never forget this. I love you.”
Anna couldn’t hold Julius tight enough, even with every drop of emotion and love she had in her pouring out at every seam. And even if Julius wasn’t okay, Anna wouldn’t let herself pry. She hated the way people had been prying at her since the Masquerade. ‘Are you sure you’re okay?’, ‘You can always talk to me.’, ‘Come on, you really should talk about it.’. Anna had heard more than enough of all that racket. She wasn’t okay, and she didn’t want to talk about it. Anna hadn’t been okay since she was eleven and her parents died. She was even less okay when Kieren died. And now? Anna was the furthest from okay she could ever have been. Yet with Julius, things felt just a tiny bit better. “Together or not at all.” Anna agreed, her voice muffled against his shoulder. As they broke apart, Anna quickly tried to swipe away the tears from her cheeks. She always hated crying, the way she felt so vulnerable and weak. But Julius’s words only made the tears come once more. Despite his assurance, Anna would still feel that guilt. On top of every mistake she felt she had made the night of the Masquerade, Anna had let too much time pass since reaching out to the people she needed most, and those who probably needed her just as much. “I love you too, Julius. And I’m here for you, even if-- even if I’ve been missing in action, I--I’m here. You know that. I promise.” Though Anna wasn’t certain how much her promises were worth. Given the fact that she’d promised Claire and failed, Anna wasn’t sure her promises had any sort of weight anymore.
