I’m not sure if someone has already mentioned this but on a rewatch I noticed something odd in s5e2. I know recently people have been playing with the idea of Mike getting Vecna’d earlier than we originally thought. And also people have been playing with the idea of other members of the party also being Vecna’d.

In episode 2, Jane goes into the upside down to chase after Holly. However she doesn’t just step into the upside down. There is a shot in between. We zoom in on the closed portal at the Wheeler house, then cut to Jane calling for Holly. But she is in her black void. The one she conjures when she goes into her or other people’s minds.

Then, we cut to her actually in the upside down.

Why add that shot in the middle? I mean sure it’s a nice transition from the black marks on the door into the black void, but from a story perspective it doesn’t really make sense to me.

To me, it seems to visualize that she is in her mind. Is she in her mind from that point onwards?

I haven’t put enough thought into this for it to be an actual theory, but just something I noticed.

s5pt1 Mike and Will are already together.

End of s5pt1, Will still saves Mike's life but Mike is in a Vecna coma.

Mike thinks everything that happened in the show is real life. He has no memory of the 18 month gap.

Meanwhile, Will is desperately trying to save the life of his boyfriend who is not even aware he needs saving.

OK, my last conformitygate thought for the day.

Max, and eventually Holly say multiple times while in Henry‘s mind that “Nothing can hurt you here”

One thing that really bugged me about season five is I didn’t really feel the stakes. No one died or even got seriously injured for that matter. The threat didn’t feel real.

Perhaps that’s because it never was.

My latest #conformitygate thought:

So I was going a little crazy with this trying to figure out what the alternate ending would be if the ending we got was fake.

My first thought was that Mike got Vecna’d and we’re seeing it from his POV. This would line up with what they originally said, which is that we were going to get more of Mike’s POV this season. But the more I went into that thought it didn’t really make sense because there are so many things that happen that have nothing to do with Mike. In fact, most of what happens has nothing to do with Mike. And maybe that’s because Mike’s worst fear would be his friends not needing him, but I have a different theory.

Because it’s not just the show is it? It’s the interviews too. There’s been a shift. Before the finale came out everything that I was hearing out of interviews was really good and made me really excited for the finale. But since the finale aired, the interviews have been really different. Not only are they directly contradicting things that they have previously stated, but it seems that even some of the cast themselves are being open about their disappointment in the finale. Which I find strange because they are still in the promotional phase of promoting the final season so even if it is true that they are disappointed in the finale, I just find it really weird that they would talk about it now.

I started going crazy yesterday contemplating all of this, and I thought to myself “Man at this point I feel like I’m the one getting Vecna’d”

And that’s it. That’s my theory. It’s not just Mike or whoever else getting Vecna’d. I think it’s the whole party. And you. And me. Because if that was the Duffer Brothers last trick that would be insane. Vecnaing the whole audience, but it doesn’t just stop when the show ends. It continues into their interviews and seeps into the real world till you feel like you’re going crazy.

I really really want to believe in conformitygate. Because if conformitygate isn’t true, then my favourite TV show just had a really bad ending and I don’t want to accept that.

I’ve heard a few people mention a few different dates as to when they think we may or may not get confirmation. Some folks mentioned some dates in January and I’m not sure where they got those dates from but I do think it would make sense. They wouldn’t wanna leave it too long. People would start losing interest in the show and accept that the finale we got is the finale.

However, here are some alternate date theories:

November 6th

Yeah, I know November 6th is really far away. However, it does get mentioned several times by Lucas in the fifth season which I don’t think is a mistake. If conformitygate is real and we really are supposed to be paying close attention and looking for clues. Well, Lucas mentioned November 6 I think like three times. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that would make it the rule of threes.

Which leads me directly into my next possible date:

July 15th

Again, I know it’s quite a few months away but it’s a lot closer than November 6th so it’s a bit more realistic. July 15, 2016 is the date that the first season of Stranger Things came out on Netflix. And as Lucas says several times, his theory is that everything will end the day it began. That would also be the 10 year anniversary of Stranger Things so I think it would be so perfect.

In addition to that, all their odd numbered seasons have eight episodes and all their even numbered seasons have nine episodes. Season five being an odd numbered season, you would expect only eight episodes. However, what is also true is that all their odd numbered seasons have an even number of episodes and all their even numbered seasons have an odd number of episodes.

So keeping with that pattern, if they gave season 5 two more episodes, it would still be an even number of episodes. And, it would be 10 episodes total for their 10 year anniversary.

TLDR; So currently my primary running theory is that we may be getting two more episodes on July 15th. 🤞🏻

So this is my first post, but this is so important to me that I just have to talk about it.

I can’t believe that Stranger Things is actually ending today and all, but am I the only one who’s upset about the idea of nobody dying??

I feel like it’s kinda weird how we haven’t seen a main character die, like, ever. Every season they only kill the new character (S1: Barb, S2: Bob, S3: Alexei, S4: Eddie). And of course I love how we were able to see how far these characters could go, but also most of them have been stuck for a while.

It doesn’t help that they keep adding more new characters and giving them more screen time than the main ones. What I’m trying to say is that I’d rather see them die than watch them slowly become side characters out of nowhere.

I talked to my friends about it and they told me it’s kinda weird and that they like things the way they are, so I don’t know if it’s just me.😞😞

I think more people should have died. The lack of consequences overall felt unrewarding.
