āSAY MY NAME!ā is a contemporary Black British Gay Love Story set amidst a gritty grimy urban backdrop of āstreetā reality. The storm kicks off when ārude-bwoyā Ricky blanks his undercover lover Chris while hanging āon roadā with his crew because he is afraid being āoutedā.
Hurt, humiliated, and exploding with fury the ignored Chris confronts his down-low man in a brutally explicit, no holds barred fight in which issues of masculinity, sexuality, race, self definition, love and God are confronted.
With their relationship in the balance Ricky is forced to face his deepest darkest most inner feelings.

Chris in love with a man and in the midst of coming to terms with his homosexuality suddenly finds himself unable to deny his true feelings. āLove means doing the right thing no matter whatā but does Ricky love him enough to break taboo and go against community, tradition and the laws of the āstreetā?

It took a while getting used to the mix of West Indian/African influenced language (whereās my Londoner friend Kikkie when I need her?), but I think the issues confronted here are so important. I donāt even know where to start.
One thing I can say for sure is that I know how Chris feels, and that no man should ever make you go back into the closet just because heās afraid of facing his own skeletons. You should never be complacent with being someoneās dirty little secret.
