Urban Agency: My Reflection
As Copywriter, I was responsible for writing all content for elements of the ARG. This required writing drafts and seeking approval from the rest of the team to ensure the content contained all the elements necessary for the purposes of the game, and rewriting to fit where necessary. I wrote content for the following elements: the Maelstrom website, the Rabbit Hole speech and PowerPoint. On gameday, I helped to set up the ARG, monitored and documented the Gardens Point Team and played a role as the Urban Agency Director. I found developing Urban Agency to be a positive experience overall. In particular, I enjoyed collaborating with a group of people (most of whom I'd never worked with before) to execute a creative project such as this. It gave me a good opportunity to build my project management skills. Although my role wasn't as a graphic designer, I enjoyed seeing how our graphic design skills could be used in a project and how they could be integrated with my other skills, such as writing.
On the negative side, it was sometimes difficult to work on a concept that was originally developed by someone else, as it took a while for me to fully understand the concept and vision of the original ARG. However, this was resolved with time and with the cooperation of the original creator to explain any areas I was unsure of. As there were multiple team members and such an intricately detailed project, it was also sometimes quite a task to keep track of any minor changes that had been made to plans. It was very important to remain diligent and check the Tumblr blog, which was our main way of recording the development of the ARG, just in case any changes hadn't been shared with me personally. This was particularly relevant to me as I had a couple of weeks away from the group meetings for personal reasons (communicated with Belinda Ho and the team).
