i actually finished reading Maurice yesterday (finally) and started writing a fic with this exact scenario (Mike reading Maurice and breaking down, all with the excerpts from the actual book), it is very experimental but i hope it sails

Imagine if we gathered a team of theorists, writers and artists to completely rewrite ST from season 4. (Maybe even 3) + make conformitygate real

It would go so hard and be a major fuck you to the duffers, if they even care atp.

so the lessons i've got so far from this show:

1. Friends lie and you're encouraged to do so

2. Even more, if your unrequited feelings are used to back up your friends' toxic relationship

3. To break the cycle of abuse you must die

4. Conformity wins

5. Never put trust into big mainstream media ever again, because time and time again we've been baited on every level, from queerbait to just straight up bait. The writers won't have any moral decency to put a stop to mass hysteria because they're only here for money. They will not defend their most devoted audience, they will not stand by their motto. They will continue to sail on fans' blood and tears, until they sucked every ounce of money and engagement from you.
