Oh dear. What a grabby little thing. Shade purses her lips for a second, which turns into three. Before finally, she bends down and lifts the chao up very carefully. Then, Shade holds it at arms length, not quite sure what to do now.

“…Hm.”

What a weird-looking creature, lifting it up while seeming completely unsure of herself! Despite this, it appears that the Chao is still in the air, as it intended, so it begins kicking its feet and giggling, patting the girl’s hands with its nubby little hands while trying to float up higher (of course, ‘floating’ in this instance translates to being lifted up even higher.

“Haha! Uppy! Uppy!!”

Well, good to see it was the right decision. “Up? You want up?”

Her voice takes on a childish tone as she repeats up to the chao. But she does, she lifts the chao higher and starts walking like that. She may forget she had a mission, but frankly.... Chao.

When it came to quiet evenings like this, and he couldn’t be bothered to turn in for the night, Sonic would usually go for a run. It was a nice way to unwind from the stresses of the day, and especially get away from the common rabble where he could simply enjoy the crisp late autumn air.

Course, he was bound to get a chill sooner or later, so he found the nearest diner that was still open this late at night to warm up inside. Maybe even grab himself a cup of hot coco, if he was feeling it. Come to think of it, a warm, sweet drink didn’t sound too bad right now.

Burrowing his nose into his red & white lettermen, he swings the door open with a confident but tired smirk, the little bell ringing and indicating the presence of another costumer to the rest of the company inside. It didn’t seem to be all that busy, thank Gaia. Not that Sonic didn’t mind running into fans, but right now he wasn’t particularly in the mood to pose for selfies and sign autographs. He really just wanted some peace and quiet.

He strides up to the counter, nodding a greeting to the cashier. Since the building was so unoccupied, he was free to pick almost whatever seat he wanted. He scans the lobby, looking for an ideal spot before something caught his eye. A hint of blush orange spines, a familiar black and purple getup…

…Shade?

Why… it’d been so long since he’d even seen her. It felt like it’d been at least over a year since he last ran into the echidna warrior, and even longer since they’d teamed up. She even looked different, some of her spines grown out and draping over the side of her face. Sonic had to do a double take to confirm that it was indeed his old comrade.

He had the mind to wonder what she was doing here, but quickly decided it didn’t really matter. She was here, wasn’t she? It was late, nobody was around, Sonic had no doubt she probably wanted the same peace and quiet he did. But maybe she wouldn’t mind if he said hello?

Making up his mind with a silent nod of affirmation, he strolls across the lobby and leans on the side of one of the seat benches of the booth she sat at, ears flopping over to the side as he tilts his head with a greeting smile.

It had been a long night. Day? Both, technically. But now Shade sat in peace and quiet at this rather comfy little diner she’d become rather fond of with time. She was rolling the tiny ring back and forth on the table with one hand while she picked at her remaining fries with the other. Her drink had long since gone cold, as well, but Shade had barely touched that.

No, most of her thoughts were on this tiny ring. It had been buried under some rubble, but in nearly perfect condition.

It left her wondering what else was left there. But that musing is cut short as a familiar face pops into her line of sight.

Blue, hedgehog, same old grin. "Sonic." It's said with an idle voice before she smiles a bit and nods at the seat across from her. "Not at all. What are you doing out at this hour?"

can they use chopsticks: Shade hasn’t actually encountered chopsticks before but I don’t doubt she could with practice

what do they do when they can’t sleep: She’s inclined to go digging into the history of her tribe and go adventuring in places they used to reside. She wants to see what unaccounted for artifacts remain

what would they impulse buy at the grocery store: Anything that catches her fancy. Shade hasn’t seen half the things on the shelves so she just. collects. If she doesn’t like it, she’ll often pawn the opened boxes--with a single one removed-- to whoever is unfortunate enough on her friends list to get whatever it is

what order do they wash things in the shower: No preference, she might scrub her face and hands clean first, though. After that it’s a toss up.

what’s their coffee order: Shade doesn’t really drink coffee very often, but will drink any kind put before her. She doesn’t have much preference there... Milkshakes, on the other hand...

what sort of apps do they have on their phone: The standard apps a phone comes with pre-installed. She actually doesn’t use it much and vastly prefers using her comm. She might have instagram to post pictures of places she’s been, though

how do they act around children: Shade is trying to be gentle with children. From what she understands, most Mobian children are not being raised to be elite soldiers. She has a bit of a temper toward children who don’t listen, though.

what would they watch on tv when they’re bored and nothing is really on: In most cases she’ll just turn it off. If nothing worth watching is on, why waste the energy leaving it on?
