it's not really a date no [closed]
When her phone vibrates on her nightstand, Ivory first thought is “oh, piss off Grey,” because honestly, who else would text her this late? Not Cole, not Mom, definitely not Dad. Grey. Probably with high hopes to antagonize her, too, and she was seriously not in the mood. With a groan, she closes the magazine she was reading and grabs her phone. She flips it open and her heart jumps as she scans the text.
It’s not Grey, her parents, or Cole. It’s…Red?
“Are you free tomorrow? If not, you’re going with me. It’ll be at 6 pm, wait outside your dorm. Don’t make me wait.”
Ivory lights up like Christmas lets out a little squeal. Did he just…ask her out? No. Freaking. Way. He was interested in her? What about Kris? She was older, more sure of herself…
If it was true that your face could stick from making an expression for too long, Ivory was going to be grinning like an idiot for the rest of her life. She scanned the text over and over again. She realized how odd his bluntness was—jeez, he didn’t even ask her if she wanted to go—but then she started to feel a little proud. She’d noticed that he was starting to be a little more outspoken and she was totally happy for him.
Her hands nearly shaking in excitement, she begins to type:
omg yes !(: (that’s the answer to ur implied question btw) and where r we going ?
It seemed like she wasn't going to reply. He had waited too long, and found himself shutting his eyes and falling into a light sleep. When suddenly his phone vibrates next to him, and his eyes shoots open and his body jolts awake in surprise. The commotion cost him bumping his head against his head board as he immediately clamored for his phone. Rubbing the back of his head, he spat out a grumbling "damnit" before actually giving time to read through the reply. It was Ivory.
Suddenly, he calms down. His face returns to its usual expressionlessness and carefully reads through her reply.
omgyes !(: (that’s the answer to ur implied question btw) and where r we going ?
He felt his face scrunch up in disgust. He's never seen anybody type as obnoxious as her. It was almost painful to read, but he let out a shrug and typed calmly on his phone for a reply.

... But wait a minute, he hasn't thought of a place yet. He blinked for a few seconds in thought. He was sure that if he replied with an honest answer he'd have to deal with her a lot more than usual, and it would definitely not be a pleasant day. No. He's definitely going to lie. He thought for a bit and thought to himself, "What reply would a girl want to hear without giving a definite place...?" The thinking soon brought him nowhere, and he continued to scratch his head.
But then suddenly, he blinked and his eyes opened wide. That was it. Any girl would fall for a reply like that.
I'm not telling. It's a surprise.
Yeah, that was it. He felt his heart do a quiet fistpump in his apparent success. But after pressing send, he felt doubt tapping on his head. He quickly brushed it off. He isn't going to quickly regret it, not yet.
Everyone likes surprises, right?
Seeing as her reply would not be of importance, he puts his phone on the sidetable and tucked himself in his bed. He really was no good at this, he thought.
He buried his face on his pillow and slept.
it's not really a date no [closed]
Red clutched on to his phone, staring at the blank message screen for about a few minutes. He tossed and turned, scratching the back of his neck in hopes of coming up with words to say. This is something he'd never done before, for he'd only use messaging for anything student council or school-related.

He took a deep breath, and sighed. There's no point in twisting words around, since no matter how far you drive it it will always end up in the same spot.
Are you free tomorrow? If not, you're going with me. It'll be at 6 pm, wait outside your dorm. Don't make me wait.|
Exhale. For some odd reason, as he continued to type and press send, he felt... frustrated. He couldn't understand what he was frustrated at, but his chest felt heavy and he felt his face warm. He was angry, all right. It's not a surprise, he thought. This was nothing-- he only wanted to try what Fire suggested to him the other day.
Besides, who wouldn't be angry at a girl like her anyway?
Fiddling at a corner of the page, Red skimmed through it and immediately closed the book. Relieved, he sighed. It has been awhile since he had fully finished a book, for his tastes seemed to change every week. It was no big deal, he didn't take books seriously for that matter. Books were only entertainment, and reading was only a hobby. Satisfied, he took off his glasses and propped them on his side table.
He scurried off to the side of his bed and fumbled for something under. It was a small, undecorated box, with a small note on the side. He gently tossed it around his hands, looking at it in all angles. He then gave it a small shake. A soft thud. He sat, silent for a few minutes.
His fingers slowly ran across the small note, and after feeling it for a few seconds, he flipped it to reveal a small note.
"Happy birthday, sweetie! You're getting older now. And I'm still so proud."
He put the box back to where it came from, and laid back. Birthdays weren't always his thing, and he did not like celebrating them. Nothing was great about growing older-- it was something he very much disliked. But it's becoming a bit lonely, hasn't it? Keeping birthdays secret has always been his yearly tradition to reduce attention, but shouldn't it be the time to do something different?
Maybe you should start celebrate something she's proud of.
For the first time in a long time.
He noticed a giant red mark on (what seems to be) a calendar at the other side of the room. Quickly, he grabbed his glasses and glanced at it.
It was Grey's birthday today.
… [Right. Good old Red. Fire’s social circle hadn’t intersected much with Red since freshman year. He rarely saw the guy anyway, but three years hadn’t changed him much. Fire presses his lips into a thin line and gives his hahaha friend a polite laugh.] Yup…! Busy. Very busy, of course.
Well.
Good seein’ ya! Long live the prez, etc.
[Fire seemed to be a pretty notable guy among his friends despite not knowing him himself-- and he can tell that he hasn't changed from all the buzz he's been getting. Satisfied with the conversation, he gave a small nod and raised his hand for a wave.]
... Right, long live me. Long live to you too-- don't die.
academyasshole started following you
If it isn’t Red! Ha, I haven’t seen you around at all year, but I guess you’re a busy man.
... I'm glad you know your place. I haven't seen you around either, but who am I to blame...? You seem like a pretty busy man yourself, eh?
[Afternoon in the common room]
[May awaited a response, his pausing testing her patience slightly. Perhaps she was just too used to the energetic conversations she’d have with Brendan and Barry. Either way, she sat silently as he spoke, eyebrows raising as he piqued her curiosity on the subject of his Presidency.] Really? I think if I managed to nab Student Council President after all that work, I’d be pretty proud of it… It is a pretty decent achievement after all!
[She paused. Was that a little too contradicting? For some reason the way this guy held himself had her on edge. He was being kind enough to her with his words, but she couldn’t help but to think there was much more going on in his head. Picking up her magazine from the couch, May placed it on her lap so she wouldn’t forget it.]
Well, haha.. that’s really good it’s fun then. What sort of stuff do you do?
... Hmm. [He hummed in reply. And of course, he also expected this reply. But he couldn't blame her-- even he can't deny that it's a position worthy of pride. He expected to be proud of it, at least, but things didn't quite become what he expected. What was it that he expected, he thought, is something he couldn't put a finger on. Snapping his glasses open, he tucked one of its temples into his shirt.]
... The student council speaks... for the students. And since everybody hates learning and likes partying, we're responsible for school events, mostly. We're in charge of coming up and working on how to run them... Simply put... [He paused for a bit and cleared his throat.] ... We do the usual council stuff. [He ended in a shrug.]
... Because of that, you could say though... we're also responsible... for certain troubles sometimes. [A small, mischievous yet warm smile cracked at the side of lips.] That's... the fun part.
... Did anybody live from that forest expedition thing tonight...
... Bunch of idiots.
[Afternoon in the common room]
Was it that bad?… [She said this relatively softly to herself, looking back down to her magazine. It was a really good song too..]
[Not much time had passed when May jumped slightly at the sound of the boy slamming his book shut. She supposed he was frustrated or tired, but she didn’t feel in any position to question him about it. Running her finger down the page to catcher her place, May heard the boy speak again, but this time as though to strike up a conversation. She looked up to respond.]
Yeah? [lets out a breath with a polite smile] Well, I guess that makes sense. I’m not really anyone in particular.. [pushes herself up from her belly-down position on the couch to face him, as it would be rude to have a conversation that way. Upright and facing him, the brunette tilts her head in curiosity] You’re the Student Council President though, right? That’s pretty cool!
[He looks at her in regard as she continues to talk while toting his usual emotionless expression. It was not long enough for her to mention the most notable thing about him in the academy-- the student council president-- and upon hearing this he quickly nods as if he expected it. A position to be proud of, indeed, but it wasn't something he felt comfortable with, popularity-wise. He closed his eyes thinking of a response.]
... It's not something I'm particularly proud of. [He said quietly, his eyes still closed. He then proceeded to take off his glasses, and motioned it to the ends of his shirt and begins to clean it.] ... But, I guess it's a-- [He paused for a moment, as if hesitating to continue.]
--What you would say... a fun job. [He looks far into the distance as he continued to clean the other lens. With his face still emotionless, he seemed to be unhappy with his response. But oddly enough, it was adequate.]
Yeah, you’re right, senpai—!
It’s a little unrealistic that he would still be this way, but totally believable in the end.. But, oh, yeah, I almost forgot, eheh. We don’t want to crush the flower.
... Quite pathetic, really.
There's probably reasons as to why, though. Painfully obvious reasons. Shameful reasons. Thankfully enough for him I'd like to keep respects to the pretty flower with an untouched stamen, so I won't mention.
[Afternoon in the common room]
[The boy’s exhale caught her ears and May abruptly stopped humming. She wasn’t bothering him, was she? Glancing up, she noticed his gaze still on his book. He didn’t look too great… Swallowing, May sort of just turned her gaze back to her magazine, flipping another page hastily and trying to focus on reading the article to be silent. She bit her bottom lip and let out a soft laugh at something in the article. Oh dmanit, she was really no good at staying silent…
She glanced back up and saw little change in his expression, but now this silence just felt really awkward!! They were the only ones in the common room, after all… Maybe she should say something, if not to check on him since he didn’t seem well, but at least to break the awkward silence between them.]
Oh, uh, I’m sorry, was I.. bothering you before?
I just had a song stuck in my head… You know how that can get, heheh..
[It was expected. Conversation was to be expected in a setting like this, and Red made no further attempts in escape. Keeping his eyes fixated on his book, he flipped a page as he replied in a stern voice.]
... Quite. I'm not gonna ask what you were humming though-- because whatever it is I wouldn't want to know it exists.
[Just as he finished talking, the words on his book became to jumble and dissolved into a blur for a few seconds. Squinting, he tried to see if his vision could return. No use-- he was tired. He quickly slammed his book closed. He leaned over and rested his elbows on his knees, cradling his chin with his intertwined fingers. He began to think. Continuing to read this book surely would result in a migraine, but he had an afternoon to spare. His eyes moved around the room and found absolutely no extra reading material around. He shrugged, and glanced at the girl.]
... I've never seen you around before.
[He said casually, trying to suppress his problem. Surely, if the girl noticed, she'd offer help and cause more trouble. There's no time for that.]
No kidding! I can’t believe someone like that’s hanging around here!!
And much less that you know him. He’s too much of a — hmm… I’m not sure of a word, but maybe that’s for the better. I wouldn’t want to make the maiden cry.
Hm. Knowing him, Green hasn't changed over the years...
He still probably won't change after 40 more. Even that. I can't believe someone like him would even exist.
... Oops. We shouldn't talk about virginity when there's a virgin around.
…Pink, huh?
What a fruit.
... Cherry boy. I bet he still is...
What a loser.
