I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:
Okami’s approach to night palettes should be something done across the board in games, with the brightness staying at or near the same level as daytime but the colors switched to a cooler, more muted palette, ensuring that the game is still fully visible while also making it obvious that it’s nighttime.
Daytime in Okami:
Compared to nighttime:
The game is always clearly visible, but it’s also obvious what time it is.
This is a lot better than games where you have to raise the brightness all the way up, if there’s a brightness setting at all, and maybe even increase the brightness on your computer or tv.
