I’ve been subscribed to the watcher patreon before but if I was currently subscribed and got this news with everyone else, fucking me over more than the people not supporting them, I’d be so pissed. I’m not sure what messages they’re getting exactly cause its only for paying customers. I saw at least one about the paywall and idk how long or how much info is in it. It seems they expect patreon members to pay double? Just to see their content that they talk about on patreon. I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone reposting the message the patreon got.

I have to wonder if episode 205 of watcher weekly (posted a day after the announcement) is them talking about the change before they released the news. Damb that would be salt in the wound if they’re talking about their great idea. But it probably isn’t mentioned since I see nothing about it.

the watcher discourse is so difficult to see?? Like, they are a creative business that produces a product. They are managing that business and making independent decisions. but instead some of you are acting like they walked into your home and killed your cat! girl they just want $6 a month!!

if you dont support the move or cant afford it, then be sad, be upset, give your input and your thoughts, but dont act like they personally betrayed you as a fan!! they dont know you bro!!!! And they got employees to pay!!!

The only thing difficult to see is a massive company making way more than enough money, mismanaging the shit out of their company. Then they tell people to pay them $6 or you obviously just don’t want to watch their content. Because everyone has an extra $6 A MONTH. And thousands of people who can manage what little money they have well (that’s why they cant pay for the subscription) are trying to convey the problem with all of this.

If you look into any aspect of their business, its horrible decisions all around. But yes! They can do what they want. Maybe enough people will fall into it and be a part of their special new super exclusive club. Good for them if they pull it off instead of looking inward and doing what we are doing and managing our expenses.

But I also wouldn’t be surprised if theres a new super SUPER special fan tier that’s only a mere $10 a month in a year or less.

I’m curious how others use subscription streaming platforms. I always wait until the max amount of content I want to watch is uploaded then subscribe for one month (immediately cancel so I don’t forget and get recharged) I binge the content and repeat in another 5-6 months. I cant afford more than one streaming service a month at most so I try to get all the content I can.

Obviously I don’t think this would be ideal for watcher. theres people that are able to support the creators they enjoy and will pay continuously or annually, and if they can I don’t see anything wrong with that. But I don’t think that will be the majority of people who subscribe at all? $6 for every 4 new eps is a lot. More than buying 4 episodes of a tv show on apple tv or amazon prime. And most people will probably skip paying for months with shows they’re not interested in. I have no idea the numbers they will pull but I don’t see it going the way they hope.

Scarlet and Violet having no right to be that ugly and fun puts it into words exactly. The game is a technical abomination that has no right to exist, that needs another year of devlopement at least so the game actually runs properly and Paldea doesn't feel post-post-apocalyptic.
