They can do anything with Gwayne's character because he's been dead in the books for years. So I propose he gets a peaceful ending. He will be haunted by Criston and others he's lost, but he lives to try make a better world because he's seen the utter destruction of war and pointless power grapping. I don't want him to be stuck in a loveless marriage, but that might be too much to ask (Daeron being alive and getting married would help with that). Or, just hear me out, he falls in love and doesn't fall into the lonely gay stereotype (the actors confirmed there was something between him and Cole, so I think he's at least bi)

We don't know if Daeron is alive or dead. In the books he dies, but the show cares less and less about the books. If he is dead, well, we join Gwayne in the depression. If he is alive, he does not need a tragic ending. What I think will happen, is he's probably injured and didn't have enough time to get to Tessarion. Tessarion is probably dead, making him pose less of threat and through some political bullshitting with Gwayne they survive the war and return to Oldtown. Corlys had a good idea for once and the marriage with Rhaena goes through. It would be a replacement for Garmund and Rhaena's storyline from the book and I think there's a decent chance they would actually like each other. Or who knows, the writers do something totally different

I thought it couldn't happen—impossible even—but I'm switching to Team Green

I can't root for the Team Black characters this season. Gwayne, Helaena, and Daeron are the only people who want peace. Criston (for all his many flaws) died fighting in a way he thought honorable. Don't really care for Alicent, Aegon, Aemond, or Ormund (though he is entertaining) but the others are enough
