in happier pride news i actually found this deeply heartwarming
that's solidarity baybeeee
Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.
At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.
Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”
i've been phasing the phrase 'google it' out of my vocabulary and going back to 'look it up'. fuck you youve lost your generic trademark privileges
i love when museums have near exact replicas of their displayed objects for you to buy. haha 15th century ceramic cup you are in my possession
Went to a museum exhibit once that had this little guy
10/10, give me tiny replicas of animal statues that I am encouraged to pat as part every exhibit ever please
it's the weekend!!
Im grading the final exams for the class I TA for and I'm checking the name of the one I've just graded so I can enter it in the gradebook when I notice that after the name it says in parentheses "just visiting ! =)". And that I do not know this student, they are not enrolled in this class, and they just showed up on the last day to take the final . Innovative use of free will
I did the successful version of this once.
in my last year of high school I visited a friend on the other side of the country and she had school the last day I was there. so I went with her because, why not? don't have anything else to do.
her history class was having a test which happened to be given by a substitute teacher. she asked if I wanted to take it despite not being a student there and again I was like, why not? don't have anything else to do.
anyway, I'm told that the following week when their regular teacher got back, he held up my test and shouted "WHO IS THIS, AND WHY DID HE DO BETTER THAN ANY OF YOU"
hi mutual who’s cooler than me hi hi please don’t shoot me with a gun
me trying to convince myself that the whole spectrum of human emotions is a good and necessary thing to feel even if its not comfortable while im actively experiencing emotions that make me feel like my bones are being dissolved in acid

Amaury "Chocolate Guy" Guichon is undoubtedly an extremely skilled sculptor in chocolate but I think my favorite thing about a lot of his videos is the effort he puts into putting actual dessert food under the sculpture work
So many of his desserts & pastries have at least 5 layers of different textures & flavors. Fruit jams, caramel, cake, creams, mousse, cookies, meringue, crumb layers etc
That's what makes his work truly impressive to me, especially as someone who quickly got tired of the "knife that turns everything into cake" thing, where it was all basic chocolate cake buried under 13 layers of fondant
It takes amaury's work from an impressive stunt to "if I ate that, it would probably be the best thing I'd eat in my whole life"

inserting an asterisk* into a sentence with no follow-up to denote that I understand a specific word/take is more complex & nuanced than it reads literally but am choosing to simplify anyway with trust that the viewer will be able to read between the lines & take it in good faith
"it's just stress" oh thank god, it's just the silent killer that slowly kills you, perfectly harmless, no need to worry
