I Will Always Love You
For the first time, I don't just understand this song, I feel it. I wonder if it's like when you lose someone, and you get to see their ghost for a while. Its wonderful, but they're still gone. What was once, will never be. So you cheat. Because once you open the box of chocolates and have one, you may as well have the whole box, right?
I hate you make me nervous
Worship me?
I swear I'll melt if you touch me at all. And then I'll ask you to do it again and again.
Nothing, Not Nearly
I thought I’d come and find you there Wait until you lost your hair and got your place out in the woods
You’re not afraid of trees or bears Or anything with tendencies to wanna hurt you good
We’ve not got long you know To bask in the afterglow Once it's gone it’s gone Love waits for no one
Give yourself something to look forward to that isn’t a person.

Pounding
The sun and the stars mix I watched as the waves hit the hard rocks and your words hit my hard heart An erosion, of years of only splashing, never crashing, pulling, pounding Pounding I didn't know it could do that... Impressed by what I built up in my head, looked just like that And I never thought I'd write a poem when things werent going bad. You see, in only two days I've been caught up in your airwaves Which broadcast only sun rays, and things that smell like fresh days I come from smog And you're the seasoned traveller who has led me through the fog You light your torch beneath my feet and I follow you like a dog See, I'll do tricks for treats But only if you let me sleep again within your sheets And we'll tip toe quietly to sleep once we've heard each other's bodies speak I like the sound of that Suddenly you've got me standing up instead of lying on my back And you're strong enough to hold the weight of all the things that hold me back I never would have done it Never would have felt the waves Crash over my head as I looked at you with my embarrassed lovers gaze Thank you, you keep saying But it's me who should thank you For showing me that I am nowhere near to the things I thought I knew.

contrast
This man I fell for, he had a compass for a heart and everyone knew I wasn’t one for electro gravity. This man I fell for, his hands were parachuting soldiers and my palms were one of the seven seas not really good for landing on. This man I fell for, he nursed candles on the roof of his mouth and my mom always told me I speak fast enough to birth a hurricane.
This man I longed for, he housed the sun in the brightness of his eyes and mine were desperate sunflowers seeking them out each time he turns. This man I longed for, he had oceans hidden in the corals of his ears and my voice was a heartbreaking whale song too loud, too raw, too real to be contained in echoes. This man I longed for, he taught Icarus how to climb the ladders of his ribcage and all I had dotted on my flesh were moon dust and lunar craters.
This man I breathed for, he let go of balloons in his laughter while I kept roseless thorns and heavy sighs resting on my diaphragm. This man I breathed for, he filled his pockets with freshwater pools for his goldfish hands to swim in and my fingers held the grace of the shark. This man I breathed for, he gave her kisses with the day as their audience and ours were well acquainted with the dark.
I am trying to see you for what you are, and fill myself up rather than letting you suck the life out of me, only to replace it with your light. Maybe when I find the strength to stop reaching you through poetry, I will know I have allowed myself to let go.
