their show is on
So I finished my third re-watch of the aot finale. What hurt me the most in this scene was Armin's eyes.
Absolute devastation. Because when Eren rumbled most of the world outside, it was also Armin's dream that got crushed, wasn't it? His dream of seeing the outside world, now gone to ruins. Armin, who always saw the beauty in everything, who was content enough to chase his friends up a hill, but also was the brightest source of igniting hopes and dreams within the 104th, now left with barren lands and seas of blood.
And yet he still chooses to follow Eren to hell, because he takes on the responsibility of showing Eren the book in the first place.
Absolute devastation.
The way he looks at all the friends he's lost
from being the boy who wanted nothing more than to be the Military police and live a quiet life to becoming the man that would die proud as a member of the scout regiment, he grew up (and so did we)
SNK being over OVER feels so bittersweet. I remember first watching it in middle school with this show being my gateway to anime, manga, art, Japanese music, and even playing the piano. SNK literally had me in a chokehold 10 years ago so much so that I even created this account, reblogging as many SNK edits, fan art, and theories as much as I could. It’s crazy how much this show and manga affected my interests and hobbies and the friends I made as a result of our shared interests.
I hate to sound super cringe but SNK really made me look forward to every month to new chapter releases and I cannot even estimate how much time I’ve spent obsessing over this series. I gotta thank this show for being the main cause of the chronic sleep deprivation too lol. I remember I would stay up until 4 am catching up to the manga and just scrolling through tumblr and it’s just crazy to see how much has happened these past 10 years (not just the series but in my life too).
Of course so much has happened since I was 13 but I just felt like watching it then had a much larger impact than if I were to start watching this show at now.
I’ve just been looking back at who I was 10 years ago, and my thoughts and feelings at that time just feel so recent especially because of how closely they are tied to this show. Whenever I rewatch the show, the feelings of excitement just feel so fresh almost as if it was my first time watching it again and I get transferred back to my 13 year old self.
Not sure what point I’m trying to make here but I guess essentially, the end of this show makes me feel so empty inside and that I’m just so sentimentally attached to this that no other show has been able to interest me as much as this one.
It’s truly been a great ride and I’m so thankful to Isayama and all the people involved in making this manga and anime happen.
You have a long life ahead of you, so forget about me. Be free.
