There's nothing left to do but watch and adapt. There is no action, physical, physiological, or spiritual that is necessary. Necessity is a disguised attachment and attachments come from a fear of being in a dissociative/purely self-aware state.
For many, this fear is natural due to the emotional "posture" with which they face life (think optimists/pessimists, but more individualized). For many of us, that posture is one of displacing identity. We invest shares of who we are in what we relate to. Once we have found anything we relate to, we equate that thing, tangible or intangible, with ourselves. It's part of the reason we're so good at standing up for and humanizing others in general. We feel as though that which is "related" to us is effectively a physical part of our emotional reality. As much as a favorite angle of our face in pictures. And we enjoy those connections because we're taught that having a network gives us a strong source of identity.
Think about it this way: I like rain. I like rain because of how it makes me feel: cozy, contemplative, etc. Because of this, I prefer the rain. If someone likes sunny weather, and is doing what they can to ensure sunny weather is the norm, this person is keeping me from experiencing who I am in an ideal state. Now, because of that strong desire to form a network, when our "ideals" are threatened, we react as if we ourselves are under threat. Within this subtle change of perspective lies the first step towards defensive reaction. Hopefully you can see how this template for unspoken miscommunication is representative of most conflicts that deviate into the emotional realm.
Yet ultimately, at the end of all the arguing and explaining, no amount of language can justify that which is or is not. Language, before all, is a representative description of reality. Not reality itself. And in this way, we should not confuse the relationship between language and reality. Language most powerful when it has emotional/ideal associations. Sound familiar? We create language in our own image. That's why things like dialects exist. Entire cultures are wiped out in battles of language.
In summation, I’ll say this: educate and equip yourself to change or accept and allow. Neither is wrong except that you think so.
