Kaede stumbles out of a locker. Stumbled might be too nice a way to describe it, as all she does is open the cool metal door and fall flat on her face. With both her face and her pride bruised, she looks around to take in her surroundings. Only to notice the fact that sheās in the worldās creepiest classroom. Which, honestly, the huge red barbed wire on the wall is not helping her hopes of escaping. Itās also dirty, in a more literal sense. Plants sprout in between the cracks in the tile, while vines are overtaking most of the walls. It looks completely abandoned, besides the fact that the monitor at the front of the room looks brand new. As sheās about to investigate, she hears a thump from the lockers. The lockers she just came out of.
If this is how Kaede meets her kidnappers, sheās gonna be really annoyed.
As she inches closer to the locker, she looks around to see if she has any potential weapons to use in case thereās a threat. Thereās not much going for her in that department, but if it really comes down to it, she could always throw one of the metal chairs at whoever came out and run like her life depended on it. Which it might! So, really, itās better to be safe than sorry.
Just as sheās about to lift the chair closest to the locker, the locker door swings open. A boy comes tumbling out, but unlike her, he manages to catch himself on his feet and recover. He teeters, still half bent from the way he came out of the locker. His arms are raised as if still bracing for impact before the tension leaves him, his shoulders slumping as he stands up straight. Kaede takes this as her chance to speak up.
āHey, do you know whatās going on?ā She asks, watching as the boy sharply turns to face her. His baseball cap covers most of his face, plus some bangs that brush past his jaw. But then he tilts his head up to look her in the eye, and Kaede feels a little flush because, wow, the guy is actually quite pretty. Except he has a really intense stare and sheās pretty sure he hasnāt blinked once. As if hearing her thoughts, the boy blinks once, twice, before tearing his gaze off her to stare at the floor.
āAh, no. Sorryā¦ā He murmurs, and now Kaedeās surprised at how a guy with such an intense stare can have such a soft voice. The boy continues speaking before she wonders if his voice ever sounds- āIām pretty sure weāve been kidnapped, though.ā
Jeez, talk about a mood killer.
And right after he finishes speaking, five bright colored teddy bears of all things break into the room. She shrieks as the bears start talking, saying more and more nonsensical things. Somehow, the mystery boy doesnāt react at all, which Kaede is starting to think might just be his personality. Still, she turns to him.
āYou can freak out about this, you know!ā She gripes, torn between grabbing her metal chair and making sure the other boy doesnāt get himself hurt from being so calm. He turns to her, looking confused before understanding flashes on his face.
āRight!ā He speaks, the slightest stutter present in his voice before continuing, āBut, I donāt think these bears are here to hurt us?ā
Kaede and the aforementioned bears are now staring at him, dumbfounded. The blue one turns to his closest companion, loudly whispering if they programmed him to go crazy so early. Kaede hates to agree with the weirdest versions of Care Bears sheās ever seen, but, seriously? Did the guy already forget that theyāve been kidnapped?
The yellow-striped one ends up stepping forward, a paw adjusting his glasses as he turns to her companion. āYou do realize we kidnapped youse bastards, right?ā
āWell, yeah. But, to be honest, I donāt think your bodies are strong enough to drag us all the way here. Plus, youāre pretty recognisable, so itād be smarter to get someone else to do the grunt work for you, because youād be easily caught.ā His hand cups over his mouth as he looks away, muttering about not seeing it sooner, before refocusing his attention back on them. āWith that in mind, it means that there are actual people behind this, to do the physical labor and to control you. If you seriously wanted to hurt us, those people would be here in person, which means that you have another motive. Probably to tell us information, or to lead us wherever your creator wants us to go.ā
Everyone in the room gapes at him. Kaedeās not really sure how he managed to deduce it all so quickly, but at least her companion-in-kidnapping seems really smart!
The boy senses everyoneās staring at him and flushes. āBut, um, thatās obviously a theory.ā
Once again, the blue bear is loudly whispering about the fact that they mightāve made too OP of a character. Again, heās ignored.
The red one steps forward this time, seemingly the leader of the rowdy bunch.
āWell, arenāt you smart, at least for someone whoās the Ultimate Detective! Maybe we werenāt the ones who actually kidnapped you, but you gotta listen to us now or else!ā The bear gloats, but all Kaede is stuck on is the fact that the boy next to her is an Ultimate. Not only that, but heās the Ultimate Detective. No wonder heās so calm, cool, and collected!
As she turns to complement his Ultimate title, the boy speaks up again. He takes off his baseball cap, and wow, he really has nice hair, before speaking to the red bear.
āUh, thatās a lieā¦ā His voice trails off, with a look Kaede can only describe as both miserable yet resigned. āIām not the Ultimate Detective.ā
Kaede is starting to think that these bears are one bad sentence away from exploding, as all five of them still before rupturing into chaos. Besides their panic-induced flailing and talk about theirā¦ father? They decide that they can still salvage the situation. They gather back in defeat as if theyāre the losing team coming back after half-time.
āI-If youāre not the Ultimate Detective, th-than who a-are you?!ā The pink one squeals, and the boy sighs. Whether from her squeaky voice or the fact that their kidnappers donāt even know them, Kaede isnāt sure.
āIām Shuichi Saihara,ā He starts, which is a fitting name for someone as sexy as hi- She tells herself to focus- āand Iām the Ultimate Supreme Leader.ā
