After Hours 03/11/17: Crosby just threw down the gauntlet, your move, Bettman.
“I’ve had great experiences playing at the Olympics, I think, for obvious reasons. I think that hockey’s a big part of it, but just the whole experience itself: seeing the other Olympians, taking in other sports, just celebrating sports in general. It’s really a special event.”

Q: Were there moments being on set and going ‘Oh, this is so much fun’? Karl: Yeah, I mean, any time you’re on the bridge of the Enterprise. (x)

‘LOVING VINCENT,’ an Animated Film Featuring 12 Oil Paintings per Second by Over 100 Painters
‘Loving Vincent’ will be the world’s first feature length painted animation, with every shot painted with oil paints on canvas, just as Van Gogh himself painted. Written & Directed by Dorota Kobiela & Hugh Welchman, produced by Poland’s BreakThru Films & UK’s Trademark Films. The film is scheduled for a 2017 release.
“Every one of the 65,000 frames of the film is an oil-painting hand-painted by 125 professional oil-painters who traveled from all across Europe to the Loving Vincent studios in Poland and Greece to be a part of the production.”
“The film was first shot as a live action film with actors then hand-painted over frame-by-frame in oils. The final effect is an interaction of the performance of the actors playing Vincent’s famous portraits, and the performance of the painting animators, bringing these characters into the medium of paint.”
“Loving Vincent is an investigation delving into the life and controversial death of Vincent Van Gogh, one of the world’s most beloved painters, as told through his paintings and by the characters that inhabit them,”
“The intrigue unfolds through interviews with the characters closest to Vincent and through dramatic reconstructions of the events leading up to his death.”

Evgeni Malkin skated in his 700th NHL game on Friday and he celebrated the feat by almost single-handedly beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-2. The Lightning scored the first goal of the game in the second period, but Malkin tied it 2:21 seconds later. The goal came on a pretty tic-tac-toe play during a man advantage that saw the puck go from Justin Schultz to Phil Kessel to Malkin. Malkin finished another Kessel pass 8:10 later to put the Penguins in front. He finished the game with two goals, one assist and four shots while winning 54 percent of his faceoffs. Malkin, who’s now in his 11th season in Pittsburgh, got a little nostalgic when he was asked about the milestone. “I’m older every year,” he said. “It’s a good experience. I’m glad I play here and I’m glad I play on this team. I’m a lucky guy. I came to the NHL and signed a long contract with the Penguins. Unbelievable group. Unbelievable organization.”

Fun Fact: Mark Streit
His salary is currently being paid by 3 teams.
~50% of his pay is covered by Tampa Bay Lightning
~45% of his pay is covered by Pittsburgh Penguins
~5% of his pay is covered by Philadelphia Flyers
On Friday, March 3rd, Penguins hosted the Lightning. It was Streit’s first game as a Penguin.
He scored a goal as the Pens won 5-2.
So…to recap:
Bolts paid him to score a goal against them
Pens paid him to score a goal for them
Flyers paid him to score a goal for their arch nemesis.
*sigh*. This is why I love hockey.
