to be fair, iphones haven’t had real home buttons since the iphone 6.

the buttons on the 7 and later are static—they don’t actually click in when you press them (you can see this if either you lay the phone flat and watch as you “press” the home “button”, put a cloth over the “button” and press it, or turn the phone off and try to press it—it doesn’t actually go in). the phone simply vibrates once it detects a certain amount of pressure in order to simulate the sensation of the button having been clicked. this was to increase the water resistance.
