"Meet in a Dream"

I had originally wanted to paint this as a recreation of "Sleeping Beauty"'s final climax, in the style of cell animation. But when the crew and I started picked the eras we wanted to paint, and I picked the Romantic Era, I knew I had to paint this.

That's right- I made two paintings. I felt extremely inspired to be perfectly honest.

I'll share my notes, different than the ones I made for "Oasis" here, under the cut.

Probably the biggest inspiration for this piece was "The Wanderer Above the Sea Fog" by Caspar David Friedrich, and I'm sure it's influence is evident in my art piece. Unlike the pieces I studied for "Oasis", the contrast present in this piece does the inverse of the others. The lighter colors and monochromatic blues really bring the silhouette into focus, drawing our attention from the sky down to the center of the piece. And unlike the other pieces, the motion of this piece doesn't move in a spiral. Instead, it flows inwards toward the horizon line and vanishing point. I also spent a great deal of time examining the brush stroke direction and character to learn about how the painter successfully created depth in this piece. Though the piece I created has a very different landscape, I tried to emulate those elements in the sky and in the brick.

The other piece that I studied for this was "The Nightmare" by Henry Fuseli. And in particular, I focused on the subject matter of the piece, the light sources, and how the many different elements interact with that subject. While this piece is horizonal, there was much that I learned from the direction of the composition, as well as the light and how it impacted the mood of the piece. The choice, again, to focus the subject in white as a contrast to the dark blacks of the imp and the horse were elements I attempted to reflect in Silver and Malleus.

Unlike "Oasis", I actually didn't utilize the thumbnails I originally drew for this piece, as after I studied "The Wanderer", I felt like I had a very solid idea of how to compose the piece. And... I just went for it.

what makess this funny is that I wrote that post while on my city’s railway transit system 😭

you’re totally right, but the concept of Rakta or Bacchus driving him every day is funny. It’s not practical for obvious reasons, but imagining suo waking either of them up so he could go hang out with his friends at school is silly

In Japan, you can’t drive until you’re 18, so that means someone had to drive Suo to and from Makochi every day (if he didn’t have some type of hidden residence in the town).

We don’t know their ages yet, but imagine if Rakta and Bacchus were the ones who had to drive Suo every day 😂. That’s still a four hour commute there and back even if they split up between mornings and nights.

Imagine them arguing on who would be the one taking the morning commute to drop Suo off at school 😭. They’d have to wake up at the latest five am each day if Suo was getting to school early.

Suo knowing so many languages is funny to me because the first thought I had was that if someone tries to smack talk in their language about him and expected him not to know what they said only for him to turn around and speaks it back **fluently ** and they are flabbergasted lmaooo 😂😂
