two minutes to class. shit. “look, i don’t even have time to change my shirt!” he wails, dragging daehyun along as he brisk-walks towards the danger room. “i’m going to be a laughingstock! you have to return what you stole from me because you feel sorry for me, right?”

“You probably have carbon copies of the same hideous thing in your closet,” he scoffed at Jaehwan’s feeble attempt to guilt Daehyun into feeling bad for that disaster Jaehwan called a shirt, before offering a casual shrug

His grin tipped as he noticed Jaehwan’s curiosity overtaking the upset expression he’d wore. Wait, idiot didn’t even notice his precious cloak of darkness was missing?! Daehyun blinked back at Jaehwan, brows furrowing a fraction before he hid his confusion with mimicry of the other’s shock, “Was that it? The hairgel? Oh wait no, not the hair gel, I used some on the gym floors last night – should’ve seen the kids slip.” His hand raised to chin in ponder, Daehyun mused, “Whatever could it be?”

Jaehwan’s reactions increased in extremity as students’ footsteps could be heard beginning to shuffle into classes. His straight face was replaced with delight when Jaehwan recalled his not-so-secret passage; please, he’d made the hole since day one, “Of course I came through the wall, and you didn’t even notice the difference this morning, so stop complaining about reformation – I missed the color completely one time!” Daehyun’s smile had disappeared at the mention of that one (or maybe two) time his powers had failed to match the texture and appearance of the wall, resulting in them having had to repair the large hot pink spot with fresh paint.

Daehyun was jogged out of his recollection as Jaehwan jerked him toward the danger room, “Hey, I’m supposed to be going the other way!” he protested, his attempts to manoeuvre out of Jaehwan’s grip futile, “Besides, who’s going to be looking at that monstrosity when they’re fighting off real monsters?!” Groaning as his feet tripped along sideways as he followed (unwillingly) Jaehwan, he couldn’t help but add in spite, “This totally convinces me to give back your stupid cl-”

“it’s vernon.” he corrects. without a full glass in his hand the situation feels awkward and he’s not sure what to do with his hands. when a foreign girl puts down her drink he fights the urge not to swipe it, and he realizes how he should have bought full drinks instead. he has to do something, the energy of the room is overwhelming, and would not go ignored. “you can order your ‘cosmo’ now, princess.” vernon’s sarcasm knows no bounds, and he steps out of his way to make a little room for daehyun. teasing the staff usually got him a lecture, but now he’s on an even playing field and he’s more than happy to take full advantage of it. “you do you.” he adds, smirking for good measure. there’s still time to escape, but it seems like he won’t need to.

“An adult who could be suspended for leaving after curfew,” he replied, eyebrow raised in faint challenge though his solemn expression quickly broke into a chuckle and shaking his head, he lowered his voice, whispering to the other through the harsh music, “Though they never found that passage through the greenhouse.”

Daehyun shrugged away the kid’s retort with a knowing smirk, after all, it did take time for good taste to develop. A hint of amusement tiptoed across his face as he watched Ver- down the second shot, the immature response he received calling back memories of when he’d been just as controlled by ego and pride. (Who was he kidding? Immaturity was part of his charm.)

“Vernon,” he repeated, trying to stick the word to his brain though by now, the surrounding noise and tingle of alcohol had dimmed the muscle of memory enough that he’d figured it’d escape his tongue soon enough. It was different this time, having caught an Xavier’s student out (or had Vernon caught him?) after hours – normally Daehyun’d have turned tail and disappeared before the said student recognized and ratted him out, but Vernon seemed relaxed, nonchalant about their encounter.

Rolling his eyes at the flimsy attempt of a jab, Daehyun feigned offense. Though to be fair – “girly drinks” were normally his guilty pleasure away from company, but since they were brought up, Daehyun couldn’t resist leaping on the opportunity. Waving the bartender over, he plastered on a goodnatured grin and ordered two said girly drinks, staring at Vernon pointedly, “For this lady right here, of course.”

Daehyun had left as soon as the curfew began for the students and yet it appeared this kid had arrived before him – unless there was someone else with him? Surely the other couldn’t have been here too long right? Scanning past the dizzying flashes of strobe lights in case there were other familiar faces, he nudged Vernon curiously, “So did you come alone? How long have you been here?”

“i’m innocent!” he wails. “why don’t you have a sense of fun, hyung? get this crap off my shirtnow.” he sounds more whiny than authoritative though, and he easily tugs out of daehyun’s grip so he can glare at his (very terrible) friend. “my prank didn’t even harm you!” he points out plaintively. “but you’ve ruined my perfect fashion!” he doesn’t exactly like the look on daehyun’s face at the moment — the older man doesn’t often exact revenge on jaehwan, but when he does, it’s not pretty.

Satisfyingly enough, Jaehwan squealed in horror as the blue leeched into the fabric of his shirt (which was hideous enough to begin with anyway). Daehyun snorted as he watched Jaehwan make an attempt to rub away the dye, inadvertently causing a larger mess as it spread. “Innocent? You?” the words were coughed out with a laugh of disbelief, “How innocent is putting cockroaches in my drawer on purpose and causing me to fall off my chair while recording the whole thing?”

“Please, I did you a favour,” he smirked and casually glanced at his own cobalt coloured hand before wiping another streak on Jaehwan’s shirt, “Good riddance, you finally have an excuse to throw this wretched thing out.” Shoulders rising into a shrug, he mimicked a sympathetic look at Jaehwan, “Besides, the stuff is literally liquefied pen – saving the shirt is futile.”

Normally, the ruined shirt would’ve done enough damage to soothe his thirst for vengeance, but seriously, he grimaced in remembrance of Jaehwan’s lousy excuse, “That was last week Friday! You literally stopped for three days!” Prank wars were fun on an unexpected sparse basis, but when Jaehwan got the urge, Daehyun was often the target since he was literally trapped beside the pale pain-in-the-ass.

The frown faded from his features as he resumed the mocking cheer, savouring the intimidating (not!) glare that Jaehwan set on him. His mouth pulling back into a Cheshire grin, he leaned in close to Jaehwan, whispering in a sweetly curious tone, “Oh, by the way- have you felt that something is missing from your room?” Eye for an eye, fight fire with fire as all ancient philosophical geezers have taught, Daehyun’s smirk grew wider in glee as he wondered, perhaps Jaehwan hadn’t even noticed his precious Vampy cloak had disappeared from the safety of his otherwise securely locked room.

“jung daehyun.” he states with a dull tone, an exhale leaving him as he shifts. he gathers back his chair as the other moves in front of him, raising a brow as he lowers himself back down into his seat. he glances down at the hand extended, blinking at the small, bleeding cut the other is showing him. sungkyu blinks once, then twice—disbelief clouding his features. in the next moment, he’s snorting—hand reaching out to flick the forehead of the male. “you should look into acting, really. it’s a paper cut, you dumbass. get a damned band-aid.”

Sungkyu was never one to show much emotion even when someone as desperate for urgent medical need as Daehyun dropped by. Even as he lay dying in front of the other, his agony was only deflected by a blank stare that held silence by a thread before Sungkyu reached out to flick him. Flinching away with a soft ow, Daehyun moved back in betrayal, lips parting with the shock of Sungkyu’s callous treatment.

“I’m a dying patient,” he gasped in disbelief, though upon hearing himself, it resembled more a whine, “It could get an infection- or worse, what if it leaves a scar?” Pulling himself to sit on the tiled floor of the room, he jabbed his injured finger accusingly at Sungkyu, “I come here to be saved by someone I thought I trusted and he flicks me. Terrible customer service much? I don’t even own any bandaids, why do you think I needed to come here-?”

Only when taking a moment to catch his breath from his rant did another part of Sungkyu’s words register. A shift of expression tumbled across his face as it brightened in delight, “Do you really think I’m handsome enough to be an actor? Th- That may have been the nicest thing you’ve said to me…”

Daehyun glanced around the clearly empty room and rolled his eyes in exasperation, gesturing to the unoccupied chairs, “Besides, it’s not like you had anyone more injured than me to tend to-”

Lunchtime had always been one of Daehyun’s favourite moments in school – it was all food and no classes, and even now, despite having been promoted into a staff position, it was often still the highlight of his day. As he strode into the cafeteria, the ruckus of screaming students and splattering food brought back fond memories of the many food fights he’d started himself as a student. His attention focused on one specific staff member – Hyorin, surrounded by irrelevant other staff members who chattered busily around her.

Having grown up surrounded by plastered smiles and artificial interest, Daehyun often found himself subject to the unwarranted interest of leeches of the business industry who always wanted something. Not that he’d blame them though, Daehyun was fully aware of what a handsome and charismatic person he was, he was obviously well liked by everybody. Well, everyone except Hyorin , it always seemed. There was always a bout of coldness surrounding her, his welcoming smiles returned with a deadpan stare despite his best efforts. He was never one to give up, in fact – it inspired a curiosity that invited him to persist in at least befriending this woman who was strangely immune to his irresistible charms.

Making a straight path in her direction, he broke into his default grin, waved and hollered across the tables, “Hyorin!” By the time he’d reached her table, the others had raised their heads, confused at the loud intrusion. Daehyun proceeded to ignore them,  hands planted on the table and leaning towards her, he feigned disappointment as his voice chirped, “You didn’t reply to a single one of my texts! Did you lose your phone?”

“i can’t believe you fell!” jaehwan isn’t quite done lording his successful early morning prank over daehyun yet, but he does carefully collect the last of his roaches for future use (except for the one under the book, obviously). “anyway, thanks for confirming that these will be effective in scaring people.” he wiggles one of the pieces of plastic in front of daehyun’s face, giving the other a friendly shoulder nudge at the same time.

The false facade of sweet innocent infuriated Daehyun further as the clearly entertained man-child pranced over in feigned curiosity, only to break into endless snickering in front of him. “You think this is funny?” he growled, ducking away from the other’s attempt to clap his shoulder, “Didn’t I tell you not to prank me just last week?”

Face burning red in fury as Jaehwan flipped out his phone, because of course he had the whole event recorded on video, Daehyun cringed in embarrassment as the other staff members turned toward the blaring sound of him crashing from the phone. He made a half hearted attempt to snatch the phone, knowing full well that Jaehwan’s reflexes far exceeded his and groaned, it’d be the entertainment of the week.

“The stupid chair’s been broken since forever,” he retorted, a lame excuse he figured would fall on deaf ears as Jaehwan plucked the plastic annoyances back out of his drawer.  “These,” he mumbled, mimicking Jaehwan’s tone as he threw one at his neighbour, “just shocked me because I wasn’t fully awake – you’d scream just the same.”

One would think he’d grown insensitive to Jaehwan’s multitude of pranks in the years of being trapped beside the bloodsucking twat, but since telling him never succeeded in reducing the occurrence, he’d resorted to serving up a similar payback.

Slapping Jaehwan away from his personal bubble, his lips tightened into a thin line as he grabbed a pen on his desk and feeling  the shift of texture in his fingertips, flicked the now blue gelatine substance at the other’s surprisingly clean shirt. Mirroring Jaehwan’s playful expression before, he hooked his arm across the other’s neck, grin shifting into a snarl, he dragged the other out into the hallway. “You don’t know what you’ve gotten yourself into, Lee Jaehwan,” he replied, mood lightening with his mind on thoughts of beautiful, delicious revenge. You’re so dead, he mused, a hint of smirk on his face.

when the other enters the staff office not long later, jaehwan is (pretending to be) hard at work, frowning at his lesson plans and scribbling busily. better to pretend not to notice daehyun’s entrance at all, than to accidentally laugh and give everything away.

Daehyun had always loved sleeping in high schoo, now though, he carried the responsibility of setting an example for students and needed to be on time- he snickered into the fluffiness of his pillow at his own sarcasm, flinching at the vibrating bang of Jaehwan’s door. Jaehwan was barely on time either, the fact he had left before Daehyun meant dawdling any longer would likely result in another reprimanding.

Groaning as he crawled out of his cocoon of blankets, he caught sight of his shambolic reflection, shrugged, and dragged himself out the door in his not-dirty-enough-to-wash-yet outfit from yesterday. Sleep still heavy on his eyelids, he shuffled toward the main building, musing cynically of the eventless day ahead.

Upon entering the office, Daehyun smirked at Jaehwan working too diligently away on whatever lessons he’d probably forgotten to plan to have noticed him. He found his way to his desk, kicking the chair out under to flop onto it, a hint of a smile appearing as he blanked out for a moment on thoughts of shooting elastic bands at the hardworking idiot behind him. Shaking the drowsiness off, he grumbled as he reached for his notes in the top drawer.

He paused a moment to register what had appeared to be brownish splotches on his notebook – a faint thought that perhaps they were chocolate pieces he’d left. He leant in closer as his eyes adjusted to the finer details of antennae and hairy legs. Mouth dropping wide in a yelp as his legs kicked away from the desk in reflex to escape the cockroach nest in his drawer, he flailed for a moment as his chair tipped over and landed with a crash!

Only when he sat on the floor did his reasoning nudge him on the fact that none of the cockroaches actually moved. Picking himself up, he cautiously peeked over the drawer, now noticing the dull matte plastic of the body. Brows knit and teeth grit, he turned to the one person who’d waste time on such mediocre pranks. “Lee Jaehwan!”

if they could switch mutation for a day, what would they take?

Transmutation has never been a boring power; possibilities were virtuallyas endless as the imagination allowed. As long as Daehyun had something to work with, it was aninfinite game of shaping one thing into another then perfecting it until hismusings for the day was emptied. Most others around him tended to glorify the resultstransmutation could achieve but for the boy who had everything already, when was there an instance where he would need to make the thing he already owned?

Per the old saying of a neighbour’s greenergrass, Daehyun found his gift often worthless aside from simply passing the time– it failed to manipulate the one thing he wished – life. If presented with thechance, Daehyun would’ve traded his mutation for time or emotion manipulationin a heartbeat. There is always that longing for the ability to control the unalterable– didn’t everyone wish they were ableto pull the strings of life and braid them in their own preferred fashion?

He would turn back time, stay in a fixedmoment of happiness and relive the day over and over then he would find hispeace. Or he would have been able to (selfishlyperhaps) redirect his parents’ focus from the company back to the childthey’d neglected. Alas, fate would play cruel games with humanity, and he beleft with the power to change everything excepthis happiness. Or perhaps it was guiding him through a different path, onewhere he would find a family bound by destiny instead of blood.

the most memorable childhood memories? do they have anyone they look up to?

As impossible as it sounds, Daehyun sometimes findshimself pondering his past in silence. Though not a common occurrence, specificitems and phrases trigger his memory and the boy in the midst of his obnoxiouslaughter will pause, eyes glazing over and his grin falling just a smidgen fromits frozen state as the tide of images of his childhood carries him back to theemptiness of inanimate surroundings.

Daehyun can’t seem to recall most of hisyouth, days blurring into months smudging into years until the days his powersbegan emerging. His life sounds envy worthy on paper, and yet, most days areechoes of the day previous, a rainbow oasis painted in monochrome.

There is one birthday – his ninth; that bringsa hint of a smile to him – the last one with just his parents and him, (and maybe Old Man Joong since he hadbeen there forever). Just the threeof them – their family complete for the blissful hour they’d shared – he was greedy,perhaps, to steal his parents’ precious minutes to celebrate his existence – butit was all Daehyun ever wanted. Then his parents lost themselves in their workagain and the birthdays that followed were pretentious facades of happiness,people of importance invited to interrupt this sacred moment so that the timespent with him could also double as strategic business planning time.

Role models were nonexistent for the boy; theclosest thing for an instant was his father – the strong, successful man whoseface was plastered on the ads of their company. The child had thought thatthrough mimicry, he too would be become the face of the company, someone worthyof his parents’ attention. Then the child grew up, and teenage Daehyun laughed atthe truth he’d rejected his whole life and decided that he’d never want even resemble his father.

what kind of theme that they have in their dreams as of late?

For most of his existence,Daehyun avoided sleep – the common excuse was about how short life was to wasteon resting. Of course, that was just a quote he’d heard somewhere, most likelyon one of those neon signs that screamed philosophical messages right beforeyou stepped into the bar to drink said precious time away.

In truth, sleeping resulted invulnerability –the mental scars of nights a young Daehyun spent screaminghimself awake for his parents to rescue him from the shadows and growls in his nightlyhallucinations. But they never came. Hell,how could they hear the terrorized child when they were never at home?

Only when he was introduced to partiesand drinking did he become less fearful of blacking out somewhere before dragginghimself up the next day, a thousand chainsaws hammering in his head but at leastit recharged him until the next event.

But at Xavier’s, somethingchanged. One would think that with the abundance of strange gifts and uniqueappearances, the terrors of monsters and demons would return to haunt Daehyun,but instead, in the darkness of the room he lay, there’s a gentler blur ofimages his mind recorded of his day. The warmth of fireplaces, the brillianceof rainbow scales, a faint scent of freshly baked apple pies in the distanceand the sound of genuine laughter and joy echo in his head as he drifts off intoa dream as fleeting as the time passed.

coming to a stop before a polished wooden door, jaehwan gestures over with a flourish. “this is you! #403. i’m right across over here, so we can totally hang all the time.” he smirks, nudging daehyun hard. “hurry up and dump your stuff so i can show you around, you slowpoke!”

The pause lingered for a moment before Daehyun thoroughly processed Jaehwan’s words, attempting to decipher the joke behind it before accepting the other was serious. “No. Way. You’re playing me,” he gasped in legitimate surprise, with Jaehwan, his first friend (maybe), perpetually with him for the painful duration of classes, perhaps Xavier’s wouldn’t be so bad after all.

A grin appeared as he turned to follow Jaehwan to their rooms, snickering in excitement, “I can’t wait. I have a feeling we’re going to have a great time, mate.” Rolling his eyes in agreement with the ridiculous naming and status quo of the dorms, he nudged Jaehwan with a smirk, “At least we’ll never have to be teachers, I can’t imagine us ever dealing with people like us.”

Eyes brightening in interest as Jaehwan stopped in front of an embossed #403, the corners of his mouth tugged wider at the other’s reference to his tendency to find trouble, “You know me so well, and we’ve only been here, half an hour?” The baggage thrown carelessly in the tight corridor of the room, he grumbled a “wait up, I’m not that slow,” in response as he rushed to follow his new neighbour to their special tour.

How could he have been so careless? There was no one to blame but himself for the lack of focus that’d led to this mistake, a painful reminder that Daehyun too, consisted of muscle and blood. Now, tissue torn and flesh split, could this finally be the end of his gifted path? With no enhanced healing as most others did, all wounds could be lethal and as the crimson life trickled away, Daehyun rushed towards the nurse’s office, feeling the effects of blood loss as his vision blurred and balance disrupted.

Ramming into the door, he gasped, thankful he’d reached the destination, and between his shallow breaths, he called out, “Sungkyu! Help! The blood- It won’t stop!” Upon noticing his would-be saviour across the room, he made his way over to him, before collapsing on the floor in front of him. Reaching towards Sungkyu with his freshly papercut, still bleeding finger, he whispered, “Please save me. Don’t let me die.”

wonshik tilts his head towards the daehyun, shifting in place as he assesses the other male curiously. “i got the booze too. hopefully it’s enough. and the tunes—and i got the fire.” he lets out a sharp exhale, letting the fire spit from his mouth in a gust at his own joke, baring his teeth in a wide, amused grin. “kiddin—not really – but anyway. what else do we need? i’m ready to get prep work out of the way and the party started!”

Parties were the only things that’d made education tolerable, and Daehyun was determined to bring a few to Xaviers’. The latest venture with Wonshik consisted on meticulous planning – it would be the party of Xaviers’, and with the ingenuity of the younger one, the party tonight would quite literally be a blast.

Wonshik’s enthusiasm was contagious, Daehyun couldn’t help but reflect the other’s wide smile, breaking out into rapid speech before recalling the secrecy of the event and lowering his voice, “Just the fun ones, you know, Vernon? Jaehwan? The ones who won’t rat us out.”

Wonshik was resourceful and clever; having already prepared the pool’s worth of alcohol and music enough to last a decade. His brows knit together, contemplating what else they could need – really, drinks and music made the parties. A grin appeared as his eyes lit up in glee, “I was thinking streamers? Fireworks- OH! Lights! Think we could get a few strobe lights? But fireworks too – I’ll prepare those.”

Prepping was tedious, but worth the pain. Smacking Wonshik’s shoulder playfully, Daehyun beamed, “This party will be lit!” His smile faded a bit as he nudged the other, “I’m still debating though – danger room or the library? I have access to both tonight.”

instead, all he says (rather tauntingly) is, “as if you’re fast enough to punch me.” daehyun’s acceptance of him as one of the more interesting people around the place is enough to appease him though, and he immediately brightens, eyes crinkling as he grins. “sure, i know every place in this school,” he boasts, grabbing on to daehyun’s arm and beginning to drag the other along as he chatters. “you should probably go register first, but — whatever. we can go check out the dorms first so you can leave your stuff. plus they always keep the room lists updated, so we’ll be able to figure out where you stay.”

maybe daehyun will end up rooming near him — jaehwan feels like that’d be fun.

A chuckle escaped his lips as Daehyun rolled his eyes at the would-be vampire, “Well, you said you weren’t a vampire and your cloak was just a costume, so why wouldn’t the fangs be fake too?” It was a bit of reassurance that Jaehwan didn’t typically indulge in blood, though Daehyun found himself making a mental note of avoiding injury whenever the other was near.

“Don’t try me,” Daehyun retorted menacingly, though if it ever happened, his reflexes would fail him – one of the reasons he found his powers so worthless compared to others who had enhanced strength or speed. Hell, he’d prefer enhanced regeneration which appeared so frequently in other gifts; at least his ankle would’ve stopped aching by now.

To Daehyun’s delight, Jaehwan’s face brightened in boisterous glee at his comment and begun dragging him toward a side hallway leading to the dorms. “Hey, slow down, injured here,” he grumbled lightly, as he followed Jaehwan’s direction through what felt like a maze of doors and secret passages, drawn into the subtle aesthetics that accented each area in various tones.

By the time they’d stopped in front of a bulletin of papers, Daehyun had completely lost his way though in all fairness, directions had never been his forte. It was a surprisingly long list - he’d not expected the number of students enrolled at Xaviers’, or as one of his normal (ex) friends had put it: Thank god it isn’t overflowing with freaks like you. Of course, after that exchange, he had turned everything in the kid’s desk into literal piles of shit, so really, there was no point in holding grudges; for Daehyun at least.

It must’ve taken a while to locate his name in the size 4 print as the noise of students bustling about could be heard somewhere back through the hallways. “Ah, found it,” a sigh of relief escapes him, “Theta #403, where the hell does Theta even mean?”

Turning to nudge Jaehwan, Daehyun cocked his head at the list, “Wanna show me where Theta #403 is so I can drop these-” he tugged at the hefty haul of belongings for emphasis “off before you show me all those cool secret places where we can wreak havoc?”

at the mention of his mutation, jaehwan immediately turns coy once more. “ah, funny you should ask.” he grins, slinging his cloak over his shoulder. “officially, it’s vampire physiology. unofficially, i’m just like a downgraded real vampire, i guess. blood is awesome, but i won’t die if i don’t drink it; my skin is a little cold, but not corpse cold. that sort of thing, you know? also, i have these, of course.” he takes to opportunity to bare his fangs again, pushing his face all the way up to daehyun’s, because showing them off is clearly his favourite pastime.

“Enhanced hearing?” Daehyun mused for a moment at Jaehwan who’d clearly heard him mutter under his breath, already envisioning the rumours the other boy had access to, “Sounds like a pretty useful power.” When Jaehwan referenced his limp, Daehyun grimaced – he’d already embarrassed himself with the vampire mistake but now, his injury made him appear weak. It was just another reason for Daehyun to resent the concept of school.

“Goody two shoes?” scoffed Daehyun, the simple notion of resembling a good student was appalling, “Listen, I don’t even want to be here, let alone early – I’ve never been on time, probably skipped four days a week and you don’t know how to have fun – I had the best parties ever.” The last words were up to debate, since the cops were often called and occasionally a guest or two arrested; but wasn’t that proof of awesome times?

Upon witnessing Jaehwan’s shift into amusement, Daehyun felt the surge of self-satisfaction surface, plastering a smirk onto his face, “Try one, it won’t turn back, I promise.” Darting a quick glance back at the now slightly distorted door, he gave a one shouldered shrug, “Well, you asked. And if the school really freaks, I’ll just buy them a new knocker. Or a new door. This one’s rotting anyway.”

At the mention of Jaehwan’s power, Daehyun paled a little at the fact that Jaehwan was essentially a vampire – Bloodsucking liar! - though it offered a little reassurance that he didn’t need blood to survive. “So the fangs are real,” he murmured, shoving Jaehwan’s face back from his, “Don’t bite me though, ever, or I’ll punch them out. Deal?”  

Now that Daehyun’s eyes had finally adjusted to the slightly dimmer surroundings of the academy, the interior was better furnished and kept than what he’d seen – at least the walls weren’t peeling away. Perhaps he had arrived too early, as the main lobby was empty – the students probably gathered in classes, and no guide to be seen. Not that he was terribly excited for a guide – it was common knowledge guides were always teachers’ pets who’d volunteered to suck up and boost grades. “Since you owe me one for being such a terrible greeter,” he began, pointedly staring at Jaehwan, “Why don’t you be my guide?” A grin tugged at the corners of his mouth, “Seems like you’d know the actually interesting places, right?”
