the only thing it doesn't do partcularly well is images, but those are really hard

i really appreciate the modern renaissance of garfield, nancy, and the far side. what's next. can we get the doonesbury memes
oh fuck yeah after trying SO many times i have finally gotten my samba network share to force all created files to get permissions 1777, and refuse apple temporary file trash. so now it can finally be used how i want it to be used (anyone on the network can put a file on there to be used by anyone else) and ALSO i can clean it up
periodic reminder that in most places on the internet i can be found under the name "shoofle" if i am present. altho on twitch and here i'm ada-adorable
Today I went out to the garage and improved my kneeling chair via woodworking! I made little lift rails so it's taller and more appropriate for my desk. Hopefully I will finally start using it more now
Saw a cool youtube video, considering starting a years-long creative endeavor as a result of it
I love this image so much
meant to include this with the last post, re: space truckin'. i want it to feel like a submarine simulator in terms of like... you're navigating almost entirely by instruments. you've got a bearing to head for and then you fly for an amount of time and hopefully you find what you're looking for! and then you can get some emails and such.
unfortunately my desire to do pixel art for space stations has largely evaporated now and i'm struggling to get things done so perhaps i'm taking a break
i'd like to progress my space truckin game but i've felt kind of uninspired on it. the clunkiness of the ui (some of which is intentional, for the record) is getting to me a little and i don't feel drawn to do pixel art (my hand has been cramping up real bad when i use a touchpad and i don't want to go sit at desk) and i can't really do more without starting to work on actual story tools (i need to make it detect when you go to a place for the first time and give you quests and stuff)...
Social media break time
Sometimes I want to share biting nasty criticism of something and I don't know how to say "and I still like it, for the record, but they're right. Like solarpunk kinda sucks shit and I think if you aren't willing to engage with that then you can't call yourself a serious solarpunk liker! I like solarpunk! But it does suck shit in some ways!
not doing well lately btw. extremely depressed. warning lights in my hud! don't like it. i'm trying to do yoga and get sun and work on projects about it, very sexily
i feel so frustrated by the way discourse around gambling and compulsive behavior in games is reduced to nothing from both sides. there's a middle ground and gray zone here, you don't have to pretend there isn't
yes, i think gambling systems in games are dangerous and we should be suspicious of them and something needs to be done (regulation) on a societal level. when i say this people often say "oh, so you're saying any amount of randomness in a game is bad?" which is like, no, that's not what i'm saying, but would you reject the evidence if i was saying that? we can acknowledge that alcohol is a chemical that is dangerous to us and still decide there are acceptable levels of using it. that's what i want
i am not a scholar but i think we have a lot of evidence of how humans are prone to being manipulable by games of chance. that doesn't mean Big Brother is coming for your roguelike! you are allowed to be recreationally manipulated by media! i just think we should recognize that that direction has a pathological end which is Harmful
trying to finsh up a pair of pants. i tried making them before and they came uot kinda bad and i'm recoveriing them and making them more complicated and seeing how it goes
something i've been frustrated with is i have a ton of this linen which i have realiized, since making a bunch of projects with it, is actually rather coarse and low-quality. and i'm noot certain what to do about that.
i kinda finished the linen viking pants! they were previously too tght and too loose at the same time, i had to shimmy to get them on but they were falling off my hips, and i added... a FLY! so now they can go on open and then button shut and not fall off my hips. hooray! i thnk this project, even though it came out kinda ugly, has leveled up my sewing a fair bit. no pictures bc i don't feel like it
anyway next i am probably going to try and make a pair of linen pants that fit me closely, rather than being super baggy. but if i play my cards right, they'll still have great mobility!
ok one last post tangentially about The Discourse: i think having a platform can be a bad thing and sometimes people shouldn't have a platform for their sake. i often find myself feeling bad for people even when i disagree with them because their fame is making thiings so much worse. there's so many innocuous statements that i think are fine except people turn them into rallying cries and banners to be defended. i think everyone should be treated better
