BIOGRAPHY
As the second male son of House Stark, Adam was born with the unspoken duty to follow in his brother’s footsteps: be as honorable, as brave, as worthy as a leader as Torrhen. Since infancy the younger brother became aware of that pressure, even if his parents only did it in the name of love and wanting him to be the best version of himself. The young boy became so afraid of failure, of disappointing his mother and father, that he simply began to find ways in which he wouldn’t be challenged to try and meet their expectations, ways in which he wouldn’t fail in their eyes. He wasn’t quite the brave Northern man of legend, steadfast and shining in his honorable demeanor; Adam grew from a lonely and insecure boy into a solitary teen who began to carve out his path with a sword and not a crown. He didn’t immerse himself much in Northern politics, constantly separating himself from that as he offered to join the Stark soldiers in scouting missions or sneaked out to squire by their side. He knew he could be a far better soldier than he could be a prince.
Adam fought in plenty of battles during the Dance of the Dragons and collected scars to tell the tale of his survival through such bloodshed. The one battle where he was certain death would claim him was the Battle by the Lakeshore. He sustained horrible injuries and was saved from a fatal blow by his direwolf, Saga. His loyal companion gave her life for him and for some reason the gods spared him. The Stark prince was welcomed into Riverrun to recuperate at the time, mourning the loss of his beloved Saga while slowly coming out fevers from his wounds and regaining his strength. For what they did for him, House Tully gained his everlasting gratitude and the solitary Stark even forged strong bonds of friendship with some of the Tully princes and princesses.
Upon his return to the North, Adam was named Commander of the Kingsguard by his brother, as he was the clear successor for such a role after the previous commander perished in the very battle in which Adam almost lost his life. Since then, Adam has been dutifully serving his realm in a role that fits him better than that of prince. Through the good times and the bad, through agreements and disagreements, Adam has endeavored to be at peace with his siblings so they can serve their people to the best of their abilities, especially with the eerie threats the North has faced in the last months. His recent expedition Beyond the Wall ended in tragedy as he lost a dear friend due to frenzied wildlings that follow the sect of believers in the Night King. Previously indifferent to wildlings, Adam's perception shifted violently after the deadly ambush that resulted in the death of Sarra Karstark and some of his men, leading him to see those groups of wildlings as a threat that ought to be controlled or neutralized before they bring forth the long night.
