This isn’t a surprising development, but I don’t believe we’ve seen an official announcement, so take this as your confirmation that Adam will be returning for Series 4 and 5 of Ripper Street. I don’t believe we’ve seen this news anywhere either, but we’re hearing that the plan is to shoot both series back-to-back over nine months starting in August. Let the rejoicing commence! Unless you’ve been rejoicing because the news came out already and we just missed it. In which case, take a break from the rejoicing; you’ve earned it.

Wicked City Ordered to Series

Adam's new starring vehicle was ordered to series by ABC tonight. Formerly LA Crime, Wicked City will air sometime during the 2014-2015 season; more details will presumably be coming over the next few days during the television upfronts.

Each season is designed to follow a different case from a noteworthy era of L.A. history, starting with a murder case from 1982 centered on the rock and roll, cocaine-infused revelry of the Sunset Strip. Steven Baigelman wrote the script and exec produces with Todd Lieberman, David Hoberman and Laurie Zaks. Cast: Adam Rothenberg as Jack, Ed Westwick as Kent, Taissa Farmiga as Karen, Gabriel Luna as Paco, Karolina Wydra as Dianne, Holley Fain as Trish, Darrell Britt-Gibson as Diver, Anne Winters as Vicki and Erika Christensen as Betty. It's been a long waiting game for not-entirely-patient fans, but the deal to rescue Ripper Street from the scrap heap of history is a done deal. As was initially reported way back in December, Amazon Prime Instant Video (formerly LoveFilm) will pick up the tab for Series 3 in exchange for exclusive streaming rights. BBC One will air the show at a later date and BBC America seems likely to continue its run as well.
