THE STORY ;

Addison Janelle Fisher was born into a life she never would have chosen for herself. Her father was high up in the hierarchy of the Golden Syndicate and his wife and children never had much say in whether or not they wanted to be part of it. From a young age she was taught how to look the other way and keep her mouth shut about anything she heard or saw while her father was working. When her mother was killed by a rival gang member when Addison was 14, she knew that this life was all she’d ever have. The fury that settled in her bones never went away and it turned her from someone who was soft spoken and kind hearted into a cold and icy woman. She started being a drug mule when she was just 16 years old and by the time Addison turned 18 she had chosen this life for herself, not because her father was well known in the community, but because the taste of revenge was still on her tongue and she needed to see retribution for what was done to her mother.

Keeping a low profile was always important in her position as she started working as an informant. She’d have run-ins regularly with the Las Vegas police or members of the Scarlet Dahlias and it was up to her to keep herself from getting in over her head. When Addison was working she often used a fake name to get in close with the people she needed information from, using anything she could to get what she needed, most of the time that meant her body. Addison’s father was finally arrested when she was 22 and sent to prison on a 25 year sentence for a laundry list of crimes that he’d committed over the years. The risk of losing everything to prison or death...it was all part of the life and she knew that, but it only continued to fuel the rage inside of her.

And then she met Clayton Baker and her whole world seemed to be different. He brought out a kinder side of her that she hadn’t seen in years and he made her feel like things could be some kind of normal. He didn’t have any affiliation to this world of hers and he was the bright spot in her darkness. She learned to love someone for the first time with Clayton and he made her want to walk away from all of it. That was never an option though, not for Addison, and so as time went on, it got harder and harder to hide the truth from him. Her lies felt like they were encroaching on her happy little life with him and it wasn’t long before things caught up to her and Clayton found her in bed with another man. It hadn’t been an affair, not in her mind anyway, it was work. She was trying to get information about the man who had ratted out her father to the police and sometimes getting said information meant getting a little cozier with strange men than she wanted. But when Clayton found them together she couldn’t tell him the truth and there was no answer that would be able to soothe his broken heart or fix the damage between them. For his own safety, Addison chose not to try to salvage things and she let him go, half of her heart going with him.

In the last year she’s lost herself even more than before Clayton. Her need for answers about who destroyed her life has taken over and the once loving and kind girl that people had known her to be was gone. Those who knew her while she was dating Clayton would say she was an entirely different person then. Those who worked with her would say she’s more focused and committed to the cause now than she’s ever been before. Her outlook on all things love and romance is bleak at best and she prefers to keep her emotions close to her chest where no one else can see them or have a chance to hurt her. She hides behind a smile and flirtation with anyone and everyone, using her charm and easy going nature to help her glide through her days. Although the breakup was her fault, Addison felt that heartbreak in a way she hadn’t ever been prepared for and it changed her. These days you can find her most often at The Syndicate or the Gilded Phoenix where she sells drugs to high paying customers who are looking to get their fix in more than one way.

It was surprising when a smirk appeared on Jameson’s face, especially considering where he was currently located. The jailhouse was not his favorite place but he’d been there quite a few times growing up. “ I’ll remember that next time Addi. “ He nodded giving her a half smile “ I never go anywhere unarmed. it would sort of defeat the purpose of my job on some level. “ He added shaking his head. “ I just don’t typically get caught “ His face changed though when she mentioned stupid being her job. “ Don’t sell yourself short. I don’t usually corelate the word stupid with you. Trouble? Yes. but never stupid”

Addison and Jameson were often on the same wave length, it was part of why she liked him so much. He understood her when most people thought of her as a wild or reckless, he could see beneath that to who she was and he’d been there for her too many times to count. “Please do, now we’re gonna have to call Easton and he’s gonna be pissed.” She sighed softly, shaking her head with a smile on her lips. There were worse people to be sitting in jail cell with she supposed. “Well thank you, but this feels pretty damn stupid right now. I’m with you though, I don’t go anywhere without some kind of protection on me. It’s in my blood to always be thinking about who might try to hurt me.” Her father had engrained in her from a young age that you couldn’t trust anyone not to wish you harm and to always be ready. “Do you know where Lily is? I’m surprised she isn’t here already screaming at the officers for you.” She smiled.

Seeing Clayton at the party the other night had affected Addison more than she realized and her heart was begging for a distraction. Anything to help her forget about him and the conversation they’d had. It was obvious that he hated her and she wanted to hate him right back but there was nothing in her that did. She found herself a little drunk tonight knocking on Aidan’s door at almost midnight, leaning her head against the doorframe waiting for him to open it. He was a good friend to her but more than that she needed the distraction. She needed someone who would give her the physical touch she needed to keep her mind from wandering. “Hey...um, sorry I know it’s late but can I come in? I just need...you. I need you right now.”

“Did you end up getting out okay from the party the other night? I heard some crazy shit went down but I was gone before it happened.” Addison turned to the blonde beside her and let her eyes rest on Emma. The girl was so soft and kind hearted that it was a wonder to Addi that she wanted anything to do with this life. Being part of a gang was hard and it was likely to turn people cold and ruthless. But somehow Emma kept her shine. “Not many circumstances in which I’d say this, but I’m glad I got arrested. Got me out of there before the whole place went up.”

Addison had been spending a lot of time lately staying safely within the Golden Syndiate’s territory. She had business along the strip here and there and she was continuing her facade with a few of the men in the dahlias, but outside of that she was trying to keep herself out of harms way as much as possible. Easton had warned her to be careful or he’d pull the plug on her little revenge scheme and so tonight she was sitting at the bar on the gambling floor, dressed impeccably as always and keeping her eyes on the floor, searching for someone who might be able to ease the tension in her chest. As a familiar face appeared at her side, Addi smiled up at Tony. “And to what do I owe the pleasure of your company tonight?”

“Well I bet this is just the best day of your damn life, ain’t it Officer?” Addison had been stupid to get herself arrested last night but she was lucky enough to not have anything else on her record that they could prove to keep her detained once her bail was posted. The LVPD had been itching for a reason to get another Fisher into jail and arresting Addison had probably been the highlight of the evening for Officer Amin. “Just know this is the last time you’ll see me in here.” She signed her name on the line to receive her things back, folding her arms over her chest as she stood in front of Aanya.

Dealing drugs was an easy way to get in with people. It was a way to get people to trust her and want to share their deepest and darkest secrets. Everyone trusted the pretty blonde with the little packets of white gold. She reported directly to Sophia for her sales and was scheduled to meet with her this afternoon to discuss her profits and get her cut of the money. “Sorry I’m late, that last client was a talker.” She rolled her eyes at the man who she’d just left, reaching into her purse to pull out an envelope of cash, handing it over to Sophia. “But, it’s been a very lucrative week, people are really on edge right now and wanting to get high more than ever I guess.”

Addison knew she should be more careful. Easton had asked her to take her approach with getting in with some of the female members of the scarlet dahlias instead but her expertise was in winning over men and so she kept her pseudo friendship with Rowan going after the night of the explosions anyway. She’d texted him to meet her at the bellagio tonight for a few drinks and games and the blonde had dressed in a simple black dress to meet him by the black jack table where she was currently hustling a group of tourists. “Sorry boys, better luck next time.” She shot a wink at the dealer who just shook his head, familiar with her antics, as she saw Rowan approaching out of the corner of her eye. “And here he is, the man of the hour.” Addi got to her feet and wrapped an arm around him in a hug. “How are you? Are you and your family okay? I heard about the explosions but I...left before it happened.”

The events from the other night were still fresh in Addi’s mind, having heard about the explosions after the fact since she’d gotten herself arrested before it happened. She just knew the dahlias had to be behind this, they were constantly causing trouble. In the days that followed she’d been even more insistent on getting information, putting herself in increasingly dangerous situations, one that tonight had gotten her injured. It wasn’t bad enough to warrant a trip to the hospital, but shed sent a picture of the gash on her thigh to Cameron to ask if he thought it needed stitches and had been thankful when he’d offered to come to her to patch it up. She opened the door and let him in, leading the male into her kitchen where she took a seat at the table and tugged her shorts up enough to show him the wound she had covered with gauze. “Seriously, thank you for coming here, I appreciate it more than you know.”

Spending the time practically in silence and out of trouble, Clara pretty much welcomed the sudden presence and company of her blonde friend that unsurprisingly found herself in the same situation as the rest of them. With her words, the brunette let out an amused huff. “You’re speaking my mind. The world literally did not know I exist until now. Just because of a knife.” She sighed, crossing her arms over her chest. It would be a lie to say it did not irritate Clara that she got caught because of something as this, yet it would be useless to dwell over it. “If we get that call.” Clara pinpointed, still not completely sure how can such thing happen in city like Vegas. “But even without bail they can’t keep us here forever. But until then we can very well kill each other or we all go mad.” With a scoff she let her eyes travel the cell once again. “My first bet is on Grayson. He is already mad basically, so that leaves him to be the first man to go.” Her tone was light and although any other day it might have sounded that she is serious, that time she just wanted to lighten the current situation and was hoping her friend would catch on.

Addison’s eyes were drawn back to Grayson who couldn’t seem to keep his mouth shut despite already having been put in jail. Men were a different breed, she swore it. A sigh left her lips as she turned her head back to her friend. “Okay well are you gonna kill him or should I?” She kept her face straight and her tone even but they both knew it was a joke. It wasn’t as if killing a scarlet dahlia in the presence of an armed guard was going to do them any favors. “But you’re right, they can’t hold us forever. They either charge us with something or they let us go. And I don’t think having a knife on my body that I didn’t use on anyone is enough to charge me with anything.” She rolled her eyes, leaning her head back against the wall. “I just want to go home and forget about this useless night. I didn’t even get the information I was prying for from those stupid men.”

There were few things that could level the playing field between the two rival gangs, but being locked up was one of them. Neither had any weapons or things they could use against the other. Except for the fact that Addison had been getting very friendly with Rowan Whitlock, who did not know her true identity, and Christian had yet to meet the blonde who was masquerading around as someone else. Her only hope at this point, now that she’d been arrested and booked in front of him, was that he hadn’t seen her befriending Rowan and was none the wiser to her plans. Her better judgment told her to keep her mouth shut and her eyes down, but Addi had never been one to listen to that sort of thing. “You know, you’d have better luck getting the guards to allow you that phone call if you’d quit looking so damn sour.”

Addison wasn’t surprised to see the brunette next to her that she’d spent half her night trash talking people with. She was however surprised at some of the other people in the jail cell with them and as it became increasingly clear the guards wouldn’t be allowing them phone calls any time soon, she leaned her head back against the wall and glanced over at Clara. “It’s funny how many things I’ve gotten away with in my life and yet having a knife I never used on anyone is what landed me here. Ironic.” She sighed, pushing her hair back over her shoulder and letting her eyes close a moment. “We’ll call Easton once they let us have that phone call and he can come bail us out.” Hopefully.

Jameson was deep in thought. This wasn’t the first time he was sitting in a jail cell in his lifetime and he doubted it would be the last. He leaned back in his seat on the bench as he tried to come up with a plan to get out pretty quickly. He didn’t think there were any reason to worry about the others, but he figured the sheer number of their gang being gone might have drawn some attention.  The room was filled with members of the Golden Syndicate that were all very skilled at what they did. There were also other people there from the Scarlet Dahlia’s but he was trying his hardest to ignore anything said. He wanted to come up with a plan, but he realized quickly they might have to just wait it out. “There’s no way they can hold us that long but does anyone have any idea’s how to speed this up?”

Addison found herself a seat beside Jameson and laughed at his question, shaking her head at him. “Well my idea would have been to call you but apparently you’re just as dense as I am tonight.” She was reckless and made poor choices regularly, but someone like Jameson she expected to know better than to show up to an event like this one with a weapon. “You’re supposed to be the one to rescue me, remember?” Addi said, alluding to their conversation earlier in the night. “I didn’t think you were stupid enough to show up armed tonight, J...” She shook her head and looked up at the ceiling. “Stupid is usually my job.”

“What happened to the right to a phonecall, fuckface?” Grayson called through the bars of the large holding cell, smacking a hand off the bars and being only slightly soothed by the resounding clang. “The phone lines are down, Rhodes and you got a long enough record for us to ship your ass to state if you don’t shut the hell up.” One of the nearby cops called out from where they were sat at a nearby desk, sounding bored as he did so. “You think he’s feeding us some bullshit or what?” Gray asked as he turned, looking at the person nearest to him.

Addison had known better than to bring a weapon to the event tonight, but she also knew better than to let her guard down, ever. Grayson was shouting at the guards like an idiot and pissing her off even more than she already was as she sat with her back against the wall, one leg crossed over the other. He turned to her and asked his question and she rolled her eyes. “I don’t know but you shouting at him like a toddler certainly isn’t helping the situation now is it?” Her tone was condescending, as usual, and she sighed as she got up and walked towards the bars, extending her arm through it and smiling at the guard. “Can a girl get a bottle of water in the place or am I expected to die of thirst while you wait for a real adult to come back and help you detain us?” The guard scowled at her as he turned his back and returned to his computer. She glanced over at the male beside her and sighed. “You’re standing too close to me. I have a three foot rule, thanks.”

Jameson had a blind spot when it came to Addison. He knew when to be serious, but with her he felt more like her older brother than someone high up on the gang hierarchy. “I was about to say. You said yet and I usually know what that means. Live your life Addi but if you get into trouble tonight let me know and I’ll be there” Jameson explained. He was not gonna police her fun in any capacity but he wanted her to know he had her back. “ Well you look great. So there’s another one to add to the list. I’m sure you’ll get to twelve in no time” 

There were only a handful of people that Addison knew she could always call if she were in a bind somewhere and Jameson was high on that list. The people in the positions of power in the Golden Syndicate tended to look at Addison like a little sister and she knew part of that was due to the respect they all held for her father. Under any other circumstances, Addi would hate being treated that way, but these people were her family now. They were all that was left. “I’ll be sure to call you if I need a rescue.” She smiled, taking another sip of champagne. “Lily looks gorgeous tonight, still can’t believe you convinced her to date you. Totally out of your league.” Addi teased, nudging him with her arm playfully.

Easton could see she was going to do it no matter what he said to her. He sighed looking down at her hand on his chest. He nodded his head towards a hallway where they could talk a little more openly. This way unwanted eyes were not seeing the conversation or ears hearing the words they were saying. He found his way there and waited for her. His voice more measured in tone and timbre now. “If you are going to do this, let me support you in it then. I need you to be a little more in depth in what you are finding. So, that means going in deeper. Can you do that?” He asked her. “When you get through tonight with your cover intact, we can talk about what I need you to do. But that means you have to keep it together and you have to do as I say. If I say its too much, then we end it no matter what.”

Addison could see the resolve crumbling as Easton realized that she had never been someone easy to control. Maybe it was in part that she grew up under someone like Carlisle Fisher who could command the attention of every person in the room without saying a word, but Addison had never been one to take direction blindly. She learned from a young age that her success would be measured by her ability to take the reins. She followed Easton into the hallway and stood in front of him, arms folded over her chest as she listened. “I can do whatever I need to. I’m not afraid of them Easton. So tell me what you want me to do, and I’ll do it.” She was confident in her ability to find out almost anything and to infiltrate them from the top. “I’ll keep my interactions tonight civil and I promise not to get myself into hot water here.” She nodded at his direction and smiled up at the man. “I trust you, now it’s your turn to put that same faith in me.”
