It truly never ceases to amaze me how many over confident freshman try to pick me up around this time of year. It happens every year, and they all get turned down so you’d think they’d get the hint at some point. But apparently they think their cheesy google pick up lines will surely work this go around. Seriously, I’m the field reporter for all the sporting events, just let me do my job and stop staring at my tits, pervs.

With football season coming to an end, and Jordan getting older, it was finally time for Chad and Addy to have some alone time. Ever since Jordan was born, Chad fell even more in love with his girlfriend, and knew that they were in it forever. He was getting the hang of the parenting thing, leading the Buckeyes to victories left and right, and a nearly undefeated record. Chad felt as if he were on top of the world, and couldn’t wait to see what else would happen. He knew that being with Addison for the rest of his life was the thing he needed to ‘seal the deal’ on, so he bought an engagement ring with every intention of proposing. In fact, he’d purchased the ring before Addy got pregnant, but he didn’t want her to think it was about her being pregnant, it was about the two of them and their love.
Chad set up a dinner date for he and Addy, and got his sister Mallory to watch Jordan. On their way to the restaurant, Chad turned to Addy as they were driving in his car. Clad in a pair of dark wash jeans and his leather jacket, he was ready to go on their date, and couldn’t wait to see the rest of the events pan out that evening. “Crap…You know what I just realized? I left my wallet in my locker at the practice fields, and I’m kind of really going to need it to pay and to continue driving.” He mused as he drove toward the practice field parking lot. Luckily, they lived just outside of campus, so it wasn’t too bad of a detour. Chad pulled into the closest spot. It was a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the lockers, but it wasn’t too cold outside, so Chad didn’t mind walking down the path. Plus, the university decorated the area with Christmas lights, and it was a beautiful walk down the path.
As they walked down the path, they reached the back of the field, and the lights became fewer and fewer. “I’m glad we get to have a night together…” He commented as they continued walking. “It’s been forever.” It was a secluded area they were walking through, but Chad was happy for the privacy he and Addy had. He began feeling slightly nervous. Was he ready for this moment? He knew that they were nearing the display he put up, and it wasn’t avoidable. He knew that he was going to have to go through with his proposal, and there was no turning back. Even though he was nervous, Chad was equally excited. He wanted Addy to see just how much he loved her, and he hoped that she would be receptive to it.
When they turned the corner, they could see light coming from behind the locker room near the back door. As Chad lead them toward it, a small light display was revealed. The words ‘Will you marry me?’ were in the center, and before they could say or do anything else, Chad was already on his knee in front of Addy with a black velvet box revealing a ring. “Will you marry me, Addison?” He asked her gently, looking up into her dark brown eyes, searching for an answer.
Addy was never one to question dates or weird behavior coming from Chad because both were a fairly normal occurrence, However what she did question was his inability to hold still and constant busy body attitude from the moment he woke up this morning. That, paired with his fairly short answered and dumb grins were a tell tale sign that something was up and he was trying really hard, and failing, to not let his face show it. But still, there was no harm in going along with whatever he had planned because they’d likely end up still having a good time anyways. They always did.
“Can’t you just go back home and grab them? Or I can pay, it’s really not a big deal.” She just rolled her eyes when the car was already pointed towards the school, shutting up and looking out the window as the street lights rolled past them. They pulled into the parking lot and Addy didn’t even bother to unbuckle her seatbelt, usually not bothering to get out because the trip to the locker room was quick and she wasn’t a fan of going in there if she didn’t have to. But when her door was being opened and she was being escorted out and down the path to the field she started to get suspicious again. Something was definitley up, and she had a feeling she knew what it was.
Turns out her suspicions were right as the light display came into view and she turned back around to find Chad on one knee in front of her. She let out a small laugh followed by a playful eye roll before letting a genuine smile followed by a nod cross her face. “Yeah, of course I will. It would be an honor.” Addy pulled Chad up to kiss him properly, keeping her arms wrapped around his waist once they parted. She watched as the ring was slipped on to her finger and kissed him once again. “By the way, you have like no poker face. totally suspicious like all day long.” She paused before adding. “And you till owe me food I’m fucking starving man.”

That’ll be nice. We’ll get our best reporter back out there. When I get back on the field, the first touchdown pass is going to be for him. Yeah, I’d be kind of weary of leaving Jordan with a sitter so soon, unless it was Mallory or something, but the likelihood of her coming for a weekend to do that for us is super slim. Guilty as charged… I am stuck in my head. I don’t know.. I know I’m not even 100% related to him, but I still feel like you learn habits from the adults you have in your life when you’re young… I don’t want Jordan to feel abandoned like I did by my dad… But thank you… Thank you for believing in me.
I’m not sure about the best, but I definitley keep it real. Besides, who else will all the dumb jocks and overly confident freshman hit on?I know he’ll be fine and all that for a few hours while the game is happening but I just wouldn’t be able to relax. It’s like as soon as they let me hold him something inside me switched on and it’s ridiculous. You do, but you also have good instincts and a good brain in that big head of yours. Not to mention your amazingly kid heart. But you also have to remember that Jordan is an infant and isn’t really capable of those types of emotions yet either. He’s asleep while you’re gone anyways, but the important thing is that you’re here and you love that little boy. I’ll always believe in you, Chad. I’m your number one fan.
He’s not that much of an asshole, he’s just really strict and he wants our team to be the best this year. I know you’re not taking it out on me, honey… I’m going to ask him to give me another week… Well yeah, I know that Jordan knows who I am and all that, but I don’t know… I just wish I could see him more. That’s why I’m asking for another week.
He really is that much of an asshole, but whatever. I’m just happy I can finally go back to being on the sidelines next month. Well, in theory I can because I’m probably not going to want to leave Jordan with a sitter, let’s be real. You know I’m never going to turn down more time with you, but if this is because you’re stuck in your head again we need to talk. You’re not your dad, okay? You never will be. You’re literally the best man I’ve ever know and you adore that little boy of ours. There’s no one more perfectly suited to be his dad in the entire world.

I’m just glad everyone’s okay now. I wish he could do that for me, but he can’t. If he made a special circumstance for me, then he’d have to make one for all of the other guys. I guess I could try to get away with that that, but then I wouldn’t be the first string quarterback anymore… Anyway, I’m going to miss you both so much. But I’ve decided that in between classes instead of the extra studying I usually do, I’m just going to come home so I can spend time with you and Jordan. I want him to know who I am… Like he could care less that his dad’s a football star.
Well when the other guys have a legitimate family concern I’m sure he does, actually. There’s a difference between being understanding and giving you some time and being an asshole, he’s the latter. I’m not trying to take this out on you either, I’m sorry if it seems like that, but this is just stupid. I should have to go down and remind him how to be a decent person every few weeks. He knows who you are, Chad. He loves you. He can’t really express it at this point, but he always falls asleep the fastest when you’re his pillow.
I have no idea honestly. I think they’ve always kind of been obsessed with it though. It’s still weird though.
Like do they think talking about it is going to get them up close and personal or something? Super weird, but if you want to feed into it that’s your deal.
Okay, it was really scary for me, but I’m super happy that you’re both okay. Sorry I freaked out towards the end there… Anyway yes. He is so damn cute and I’m so excited that I’ve been able to spend the last few days with you guys. I’m bummed about getting back to practices because I’m not sure how I’m going to be able to leave either one of your sides.
You have nothing to be sorry about, love. Seriously, anyone would have reacted that way given the situation, I would have. I get school, because I’m going to have to finish my class class too somehow, but can’t your coach cut you a little slack? Like pick one or two practices you need to be at plus the games? You have a new baby at home and me with my weird hormones that are trying to get back to normal. Just put your foot down, the dumb asshole knows you’re reliable by this point.

I’d apologize for my little disappearing act, except I’m actually not sorry at all. A few days ago, at the ass crack of dawn in the morning on the first, our son was born. However, there was a little bit of complications with the both of us post delivery and it got really scary for everyone involved, but especially Chad. We’re both perfectly fine now and we’re all home as of a few hours ago. Life with the little man is already weird and crazy, but I think we can handle it. Plus he’s so damn cute that I can’t stop looking at him.
What I’ve Been Waiting to Find || Chaddison
“The kid is probably super excited to come out and meet us that way. We’re pretty awesome.” Chad chuckled lightly. When Sarah turned the sound on, Chad began to feel emotional. That was his kid’s heartbeat he was hearing, that was their child on the screen. This was something Chad never thought he would be ready for, and he knew he wasn’t exactly ready for being a dad, but he was eager to try it out. “Wow..” He whispered once more, squeezing Addy’s hand in his. Chad chuckled lightly when Addy said that he’d finally have someone to teach football to. “So exciting!” He beamed. Chad looked up at the screen and was able to see the kick. “Yeah, he’s super excited for his daddy to teach him how to play football.” He mused. Chad leaned in to press a soft kiss to Addy’s lips before pulling away and looking back up at the screen. “We’re having a boy…” He murmured happily to himself.
“He’s excited about everything, damn kid is already bruising me up from the inside out. That’s a thing, right?” She looked to the tech who was just laughing at her, knowing full well of Addy’s sarcastic ways already. She really did like Sarah. “We are. But the hard part is finding a name that the both of us don’t hate and that won’t get him beat up in middle school. And that sounds good with your terrible last name. Easy peasy.” Addy shrugged with a laugh and sat up slowly, wiping the goo off her stomach after she did so. That was the worst part of it all, the stuff never really came off, water based her ass. “Thanks Sarah, I can get everything up front like normal?” Waiting until the door clicked shut, Addy pulled her shirt down the rest of the way as well as her pants back up to where they were supposed to be before somehow getting herself to her feet and out of the hospital bed. “Please tell me I get you the rest of the day? I don’t want to have to go back home just to watch you walk out the damn door again.”

Chad: You should do that! He is sort of afraid of you, it makes me laugh. I was sort of afraid of you at first, but you're harmless.
Chad: I know, I know. I won't get too carried away with it. Uhh... I have no idea. As the season begins to approach sooner and sooner, they make us stay later and later.
Addy: I don't know why men are afraid of me. Like, yes, okay, I'm not going to take your shit and bullshit catcalls and pickup lines but that's always been the case. I'm a human, not a piece of ass. Apparently demanding respect instills fear.
Addy: You know I don't mind at all, I just don't sleep anymore and when I do I don't take well to being woken up suddenly. How is that fair? Do they not know they can count on you after three years? At this point I'm going to have the baby and you won't see him until he's 6 months old because you're not allowed to come home.
What I’ve Been Waiting to Find || Chaddison
Chad pursed his lips forward and squeezed Addy’s hand. “I’m sorry you’re feeling sore.” He murmured, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. He knew that Addy typically enjoyed taking a hot bath whenever she was sore, and she was probably craving that at this point. When the tech came in, Chad shook her hand. “Nice to meet you, Sarah.” He said as he and Addy unclasped their hands.
As the tech got the ultrasound equipment ready, Chad took a deep breath. He was anticipating meeting their child. A wave excitement hit him, and he became even more anxious to discover the gender of their baby. He beamed at Addy when she told him to scoot over to her. He immediately took her hand in his and squeezed it gently. Chad looked up at the screen in awe, he’d seen photos from Addy’s previous ultrasounds, but never live. “Wow…” He murmured, completely intrigued by what he was seeing. “Aww… This kid is super active, that’s for sure.” Chad hummed as he watched the baby roll around. “I love this..” He whispered.
“Yeah, but I could have told you that. The kid never stops moving which makes my life a lot more difficult lately. Only quiet when they feel like it, I don’t get a say.” Addy rolled her eyes playfully before nodding to Sarah to continue talking to them, which she did, telling them all the stats that she never understood but assumed were good. Addy looked directly to Chad when the sound was clicked on and the baby’s heartbeat filled up the small room. It was something she’d heard before and was now used to, but she knew Chad would probably get a bit emotional having never experienced something like this before. A fact that made her smile, because it meant he cared and that was something she’d always be grateful for. Finally, the moment had come and after trying to figure it out herself to no avail, Addy spoke up. “Stop delaying it girl, we want to know what’s hiding in there. Please tell us?” Shock crossed Addy’s face when she heard it was a boy, always just assuming they would have a girl but excited none the less. “A boy? Really? Looks like you’ll get to teach you ways to someone after all, huh?” Smiling over at Chad, she pressed a kiss to the side of his head, looking at the picture on the screen again as a particularly strong kick happened. “Apparently he’s excited too.”

Chad: At least you know what you see is what you get with me, essentially. Which is basically a good thing.
Chad: Aww I know... It's been a long time, sweetheart. I do really miss you too. I'm seriously considering telling them I'm on my death bed just so I can ditch practice and spend some time with you.
Chad: I believe you, but I still want to google it. Chad: Then I'll start talking to him more. I want him to know who I am when he's born. It feels good being able to use a pronoun for the kid now, you know? I don't know why, but I like it... I guess it just makes it more real. I want that more than anything too. So I really am going to call out sick and spend some time with you, because this is starting to suck.
Addy: I already knew that, dude. You don't have to do that. Besides, if they send someone to check or insist you have to have a doctors note you're screwed anyways. Maybe I'll come get you, they'll have a hard time telling me now. Pretty sure I sort of terrify the coach and it's hilarious.
Addy: He knows who you are, trust me. Just don't be creepy and do it at like 2am like you did that one time. That's how noses get broken. When do you get home anyways? Are you sure they aren't just holding you hostage at this point? I get that they want the team to be good but there's a line.

What I’ve Been Waiting to Find || Chaddison
“You’re right, this kid is going to be so gorgeous, whoever they end up looking like. Still, I hope it looks more like you.” Chad said with a wink. “I’m sure it’ll be more brunette anyway though, since I have light brown hair and yours is dark, dark brown.” He said with a small smile. Chad always loved it whenever Addy reaffirmed her love for him. When they first got together it was difficult for her to be as affectionate as she was now, and he was happy that with time they just became more and more into each other. It was amazing, really. Chad never thought he’d be able to fall in love with someone, but he did and it was such a rewarding feeling.
As they walked towards the exam room, Chad didn’t pay too much attention to Addy’s height and weight, which he was always respectful about. When they were lead into the room, Chad pulled the chair up just as Addy had asked. He could tell she was nervous, which was understandable, they were about to find out the gender of their baby, and while it was exciting it was partially nerve-wracking. “Oh jeeze. Too bad I’m already taken.” Chad said with a smirk. “Then again I can’t really blame her, look at this.” He joked, gesturing to his body. “Are you okay?” He asked, a bit concerned when he saw her flinch.
Addy just rolled her eyes and shook her head at Chad’s comments. She knew that he meant well and was just joking, but he was so shameless sometimes, unlike herself. “Yeah, no, I’m fine. I’m just really sore and I moved a bit too fast for my body’s liking.” All Addy really wanted to do was soak in a nice hot bath to soothe her aching muscles, but she couldn’t because it would send the baby into a tizzy. It was hard work existing as two people, she was finding out. Addy reached out for Chad’s hand, giving it a squeeze before hearing the door click open and smiling at the tech as she came in. “Hey Sarah, this is my boyfriend Chad. He finally got a morning off from practices and could come to one of these. See it for himself and not just hoard the pictures.” Addy winked at Chad before dropping his hand so she could roll over onto her back in preparation for the ultrasound.
“We’ve both decided that we want to know the sex of the baby finally. I know you knew last time but I couldn’t just find out without Chad here.” She jumped a little when the cold gel hit her stomach, never quite able to get used to it. “Scoot over here, silly.” She smiled at Chad and grabbed his hand again as the screen started to make sense of an image of their baby. “Look.” She nodded towards the screen in front of them. “That’s our baby. We like to show off for the camera too, makes poor Sarah’s job even harder some days.” She laughed a little as the baby started to roll around as if on queue.
