“What a complete tragedy,” she whispers between sips of red wine the color of her burgundy slip dress. She was out of place. How Pluto must have felt when they realized they were no longer a planet. Stilettos hung precariously from her feet, her legs swinging on the bar stool. With a sigh, she releases the phantom of the evening, the slew of drunken patrons - too incoherent to even realize she was on stage. [x] She glances over to one particularly rambunctious group when a singular voice catches her attention. She waits for the boys to collect themselves then fully turns with a half-smile, the ones you see carved into your favorite statues, “Hey there, stranger.”
Addison’s head was already spinning from the amount of alcohol he had drank, but he still clutched a jack and coke in his hand as he attempted to hold an — admittedly boring — conversation with a group of guys he hardly knew. His attention had been pulled from the exchange, however, at the sound of a familiar voice coming from the stage. “Well I’ll be damned,” he mumbled to himself, unable to tear his gaze away as he attempted, half-heartedly, to stay engaged in the conversation he was having.
“Well, hi.” he had excused himself from the others almost as soon as he had noticed her approaching. “Wow,” he exhaled, seemingly unable to muster up much else, “um, how’ve you been, Olivia?”

In the corner of the bar counter sat Mai in her usual seat. To her left, the remains of the Mai that she ordered from Sebastian – the new specialty drink he named after her. In her small hands, her copy of The Great Gatsby since it was the book her class was reading. Though she had read it cover-to-cover a MILLION times, she liked to read it every year to remain refreshed on the details.
Frankly, she had almost drowned out the Catfish entirely. From the peaceful sound of Addison strumming chords amongst the murmur of the crowd to the clanking of glasses as people finished drinks or ordered their last round. She had done well for herself until the sweet, familiar sound of a lazy Southern drawl pulled her doe eyes from the page of her book.
“Me? Not really… Mainly to myself when I walk places without headphones or in the shower…” she admitted sheepishly while she put her bookmark back in her book and set it on the counter. For a moment, Mai thought about his request but by the time that moment ended she was facing him on her stool, hands in her lap and kicking her ked-covered feet to the random rhythm in her head. “Sure.” Mai smiled, “What would you like to sing?”
“I ‘dunno,” Addison shrugged as he stopped strumming, palm flat against the guitar strings. He tapped his fingers on the wood of the guitar, pursing his lips in thought. His gaze trailed to the book she had placed on the bar. “Gatsby,” he noted aloud. It was one of the books he had been required to read during his time at Beaumont High — though he couldn’t remember if he’d actually read it or just looked at the Spark Notes. Still, he had thoroughly enjoyed the film.
He began strumming at the guitar again. “Jack White,” he said, attempting to recreate the sound without actually knowing the chords. He closed his eyes, recalling the tune in his head and playing what he remembered on the guitar. “Love is Blindness. Do you know it, from the Gatsby soundtrack?”

Noreen still wasn’t sure how the hell Addison had charmed her into going bowling with him. Even for someone she genuinely liked, that was pretty a major accomplishment. She had mild regrets when she rolled up to the alley and even had to wear those disgusting shoes. Though she had to admit, they kinda went with her Balmain t-shirt. But had she texted Imani to book her an emergency pedicure for the next day, anyway? Possibly. “I made it!” Noreen exclaimed as she walked up to Addison, managing a bright smile even through the misery of the venue. She wasn’t entirely sure how she should greet him, as she reached their lane. Were they on a hugging basis? Who the fuck knew.
The gesture with the shades and had made her chuckle, though, and she went for those instead of figuring out what to do about Addison. “Do I look like I’m a real Georgian now?” she asked, striking a half-assed yet, of course, fabulous pose, “I’m gonna make you all homesick, aren’t I?” She put the sunglasses down but kept the hat on for the moment. It was only good manners, she figured, and she didn’t want to be rude. “So do we just start throwing shit whenever, or what? I don’t really know how this works.”
Admittedly, she looked a little out of place. Not in a bad way — but Noreen looked like a girl born and raised in Los Angeles, and Silver Dollar might just be the shoddiest bowling alley in all of Tennessee. The two just didn’t mix, but Addison was glad he’d managed to get hr out there anyway. It would be a good experience. A mostly good experience. Okay — it would be an experience.
Addison grinned as she placed the hat on her head. “Yeah, you’d fit right in with that on. Except I’m not sure we’ve got girls as pretty as you back in Hartwell,” he smiled sheepishly. It wasn’t really any secret he had always been attracted to Noreen — she looked similar enough to half the girls he’d ever dated (tall and blonde), and he’d even admitted in an interview after their collaboration that she was his celebrity crush. “Yeah,” he nodded, “pretty much. Here — we just have to enter our names on the computer and then we can get started.”
“Deal. But next time it’s on me. Or you know, if you ever need out of a traffic ticket.” Boring could get really old, but Laz knew Addison had been through a lot and was probably happy with the anticipated monotony of their sleepy town. He was excited to have his buddy back again; it felt like old times. “You seem okay with that,” the blonde mused with a gentle grin. He was just pleased to earn a smile from his friend. “Honestly, not a lot. Same ol’ same ol’. And yeah, right. Although…” Laz trailed, suddenly feeling a pang of vulnerability as he finished that statement. “Did you know Lottie’s back?” He wasn’t one to open up a lot about feelings and stuff, but anyone that wasn’t blind could tell Lottie was the one girl he always wanted and couldn’t have. Addison specially had to pick up on it.
“I’ve already gotchya on speed dial in case I’m ever in any trouble with the law, pal.” Addison grinned and winked at him mischievously. It had been a long while since Addison had any run in’s with the law, anyway, and he was hoping he wouldn’t need his friend’s help any time soon, either. Addison raised his brows at Lazslo’s confession. Addison had always liked Lottie, even enjoyed their playful banter in arguing for Lazslo’s attention. But he also knew how Lazslo had always felt for her — in fact, he was sure everyone that attended Beaumont High at the same time as them knew. “Wow, no shit,” Addison grinned, “That’s awesome, old pal. You finally gonna grow a pair and tell her you like her?” he teased.

This wasn’t exactly the place Ben should have been. He avoided the Catfish like the plague, after all, so Magic City should have been the same. His usual excuse was, he could sit there with a soft drink, because at least there were other things going on than being forced to consume all the alcohol you could. It was kind of depressing, though, even if it was a good place to hide out sometimes. He’d been there for maybe half an hour or so nursing an OJ when he heard the voice to his side. For a moment he hesitated, the words ‘love to’ on the tip of his tongue, in the end he opted for, “I’m good,” and held his OJ aloft a moment.
his smile faltered, almost immediately turning into a frown. he hadn’t expected being turned down for a drink at a bar like this. it almost made him reconsider — almost. “suit yourself,” he shrugged instead, turning back toward the bar. he knew he should use it as a sign, that he should probably just order an orange juice too, but he was already committed to a cause. “two jacks. neat,” he smiled at the bartender, ordering a second for the man beside him just in case. “what are you doin’ at a place like this with an orange juice, anyway? or is that a mimosa?”
tiffanixbell
Tiffani loved her nights at Magic City. It was a nice place to escape from the typical Alamo crowd that she saw every night. Plus, she had a favorite bartender or two who worked here so, the visit was always worthwhile. She knew the crowd here, well, most were people she had JUST seen while she performed and were now having a little bit more fun. She knew every face, every smile but the boy sitting next to her seemed…Different. Cute, yes, but different. “A drink with ya?” The tiny blonde smiled as she swiveled on her barstool then crossed her right leg over her left,
“Why, I thought you’d NEVER ask. What’s th’ occasion?” She asked curiously as she leaned against the bar counter.
he could always rely on magic city to provide him with a pretty face and good company — he remembered that from the brief pitstops in beaumont when he’d been touring. granted, he hadn’t been back at magic city since then — no real reason to when you’re sober. “no occasion,” addison lied, a sad looking smile on his face, “just in need of the company.” he added, leaning over the bar to grab the bartender’s attention. “what's your drink, sweetheart?”
@maixnguyen
it was almost closing time, and addison was sat on the bartop, legs dangling above the ground, strumming drunkenly on sebastian’s guitar. for the past hour, he had the genius idea of taking a shot with nearly every customer that ordered one, leaving him sufficiently drunk and in the happiest mood he’d been in in a while.
“you sing much, darlin’?” addison, looking down at mai from his place on the bar top, “y’wanna sing with me? we got a crowd...” he said, a lazy smile sprawled across his face as he gestured toward the the people that were still lingering around the bar.

Have you ever had sex in a public place?
“Sure have, and got chased by a cop half naked.”

Addison had almost forgotten how hard it was to align your schedule with a musician — they were busy all the time. between studio sessions and interviews, promotions and label meetings, he was beginning to wonder if noreen had room to breath. he’d finally managed to wiggle his way into her schedule, getting Imani to pencil his name in for a solid few hours at silver dollar bowling alley.
Despite insisting that they’d be left alone, Addison got to the bowling alley ahead of time to ensure they could the very last lane, which felt a little more private than the rest. “Ya made it!” he grinned as soon as he spotted the tall blonde, standing a few inches above him even in sneakers. “Look, I even brought ya some sunglasses and a hat, just in case.” he grinned, gesturing toward the table where a pair of ray bans sat next to his worn out atlanta braves cap.
