“Knockity knock knock.” With voice above the regular volume of speaking, Philip played a little musical beat against the surface of the door. Was he being more than obnoxious? Probably, but he didn’t really give a shit. It was just Jude and Sophie, after all; they were probably used to his stupidity by now. Plus, it didn’t leave any room for surprise as to who was at the door.

After all, this visit -- much like the others -- were pretty unannounced.

“HelloooOoOOoo!” Another knock, “Are you guys bangin’ in there?” A bit of a pause before he started to continuously knock, “Can I join, or?”

3 random facts

I’m my nephew Jake’s legal guardian, or I don’t know, I think I become his parent or something like that, should anything happen to Jenny.

When I was ten I went to a sleepover and we were jealous that my friend’s older sister and her friends (who were also having a sleepover) were all doing facemasks. So we made our own facemasks out of Trix yogurt, shredded cheese, and listerine. No, it did not feel nice. 

Once in college, I pretended to be into furries to get this one girl into me. It was a  dark week in my life.

“is there anything you regret?”

"Yeah, hooking up with you,” he snorts. He’s laughing the whole time he says it, to show he doesn’t mean it, even adds an “I’m kidding!” immediately after, but it’s too late — a pillow comes flying to smack his face. 

“No, no, for real though. Okay, for serious. I don’t... actually think I have any regrets? Because it’s tricky. Like..you fix one thing and the whole time-space continuum changes. Butterfly effect and all that shit. And what if I fixed something I fucked up in the past, and the future came out all different? Like sure, I wish I could go back and help Gabe, or something like that, but that’s such a huge thing...” he looked down, and then flicked his eyes back up at her. Yes, he was drunk, but a good kind of drunk, honest-drunk. “And like you said, it might’ve happened sooner or later anyway. So yeah, nope. None. I don’t have any regrets. Because everything I did brought me here. And I’m very happy here.”

Bob Dylan - Do you know how to play any musical instrument?

Ohh.  That’s a loaded question.

I learned to play ukulele first, my mom taught me. After that it snowballed. I learned guitar, so bass came easy. I can play a thermin, which makes that spooky noise you hear in scary movies and that royally upsets my neighbors. Some days I think they just wanna be upset at the moon for being full. I’m learning drums, but I feel like I might be biting off more than I can chew with that.
