Saint Sebastian
A man they could not kill.
Angels in baggy jeans and t-shirts smoking cigarettes. Angels with prescriptions they need to go pick up. Angels returning library books. Angels taking afternoon strolls to the grocery store. Angels in urban spaces. Angels learning to fit their wings into their small apartment bedrooms. Angels making their partners coffee and breakfast every morning. Angels existing and seamlessly blending divinity into the mundane.
This body may not be you, but it is yours. Even if temporarily. So take good care of it.
I think if you cut open an angel it would look like this inside
Do not be fooled by their holy glow. For angels are monstrous and terrible, with many eyes unblinking and halos carved from golden bone. Wings that unfurl in a calamity, and voices that rend galaxies. They are black holes, giant and beautiful and inescapable. Presence beyond comprehension and existence beyond intervention.
Fear angels. For we are meant to be feared.
