“I mean it is a talent, but i’m not sure one they’ll appreciate or even makes me happy for that matter. Well— at least when it comes to this design.” She knew it could be better than this, but right now she needed something better. “Who are your parents if you don’t mind me asking?” Raising an eyebrow at Adelaide’s words, she wasn’t exactly sure who Adelaide or her parents were. “Hey, then take a break and sit here with me. We can just relax.” Looking around as well at surrounding area, she smiled. “This might be crazy, but do you think you could blow off work for the day? I mean I still have some Christmas shopping to do. What about you? Maybe we can make a day of it and go see a movie?”

Adelaide nodded, getting it. “Kind of sounds like me.” She grinned when asked who her parents were, a question she got often. “Well my father is CEO of Cruz Country Clubs and Resorts and my mother is fashion designer is Melody Cruz and then there’s me, the daughter who works for her parents because basically its two free jobs.” she shrugged. “I’d like that, I could always use a little break anyway.” She sipped on her coffee again. Adelaide thought for a minute. “It’s not like I’ll get fired from either job and people don’t really need me at either mostly so yeah, why not.”

“You know those might actually be good suggestions.” Writing down the colors in her notebook. She wanted to make sure that she went through all options to make sure it was perfect. “I get that. I don’t want to be one of those basic people either. I want something that pops and stands out.” She told her with a smile. “Let me mess with this some more and I’ll bring you more options later on.” She told her. Knowing that this wasn’t going to be a quick fix and she was going to need a couple different options before she finally settled on the perfect one. “So how has work been. Are you busy working on the spring line?”

“Plus there’s nothing better than standing out especially since one only gets one chance to make a first impression.” she grinned. “Also personally I much rather enjoy seeing someone different rather then the same colors for those times of things.” Adelaide was happy to see that her ideas seemed to be a thought for her. “I have been yeah which I have to say is my least favorite season to work on honestly but it’s got to be done.” she gave a shrug.

“I guess you just wing it? I agree it’ll take some more studying as to the why and what the exceptions are, but it’s a thing to consider no? Being more spontaneous and adventurous. Isn’t the point to just go for it rather questioning it?” 

“Well I guess that’s one way to do things. I guess one better hope that they are good at winging things and improvising.” she shrugged. “I know it depends on what someone would consider as spontaneous and adventurous but I’m glad you’d think that it would be.”

Indecisiveness and Bree were synonymous at this point. She’d spent a good fifteen minutes debating which coffee she wanted. Her brows knitted together, eyes running over the selection of different of drinks again and again as she tried to find the perfect mixture. Nothing was standing out to her though. “This is impossible.” Bree muttered to herself, running a hand through her hair. She read the list again before rolling her eyes and releasing a frustrated groan. “What should I go for, something normal or festive like something with peppermint?” She asked, turning to the person standing next to her in the busy cafe.

Adelaide sighed as she waited inline to order her coffee. it was going to be another long day for her and she really need her caffeine today. She texted a her employees before moving closer to the counter. She turned to the other girl next to her in line. “While I totally suggest festive, I would skip the peppermint and go something different like white chocolate or eggnog. Just something different. Peppermint is like pumpkin and is so overused.”

“Well thank you.” She appreciated Adelaide’s compliment even though she wasn’t happy with her work right now. Crossing one leg over the other, she leaned back in her chair relaxing for a moment. “I see. Mine was a little different than that, but I get the gist of it.” She explained with a smile. Although her high society was more rich snobs from the south and crazy rich church folks. “I get that. Well if you want we can sit here in silence for a bit and enjoy it?” She offered with a smile.”  

“Seriously whoever doesn’t think that this is drawing talent then they clearly need glasses.” she shrugged. “Guess that’s one gets when they grow up with the work crazed, well known parents.” she sighed. “But yes, sitting here and taking a minute would be good for you..heck it would even be good for me because my day feels like it’s never ending.” she sat back and took a sip of coffee before taking a look around at the surroundings.

Safiye sat there waiting for Adelaide’s decision and she listened to her explain her thoughts on the cards, for a minute it was what she feared most. That these were both too modern and wouldn’t be something that lasts the test of time. “Okay. Maybe I can just trying I don’t know—” Tossing both cards onto the table, she pressed a few buttons on her computer. “So tell me you’re suggesting a sleek look. Do you have a color suggestion too?”

“Why not go for a softer color like a Periwinkle ormauve color or those types of lighter palettes. I feel like a lot of people use black, grey, white and all the other basic general or neon type colors. I rarely see people using a different shade of colors. Something like that would stand out to me.”

“Maybe,” Alex shrugged, she wasn’t sure how lucky she considered herself lately. She certainly wasn’t tempted to gamble with how her luck had been turning out lately. “What makes you say that?” Alex questioned. “Here I was thinking my life was busy, but yours seems to take the cake right now when it comes to being busy. How do you balance all of that?’ She asked curiously. “Unfortunately I don’t have the time to take right now. If I did trust me I wouldn’t be falling asleep in a coffee shop.” 

“Because I would know first hand since I work with fashion people all day and they are constantly sketching and creating so I know what great and talented sketching looks like when I see it.” It was more than Adelaide could do, that was for sure. “Basically growing up I spent my life balancing normal teenage stuff like school, friends and a love life but then add on high society duties like debutante balls and charities. My life has always been one constant schedule.” she shrugged. “Maybe so but even something as simple as a few minutes of pure silence does the trick just as well.”

“Which one do you like better?” Safiye asked, she held up two different business cards for them to see. One was a rose gold pink with glitter dripping down it and the other was a gold card sparkly card. “Or are both too much? I just wanted something that stood out.” Safiye explained, she made a couple clicks on her computer. “If you have time maybe you can help me design something more appealing? That is if both are that bad.” 

Adelaide stared back and fourth between the two cards. “Well with the gold I think fancy, elegant type feel but with the rose gold pink, I see more modern type.” she thought again for a minute. “Also while I’m a total sucker for glitter with something like this, I say lower the amount of it.” she looked between the cards again. “I say make the cards into a more sleek type look.” While Adelaide was not a professional designer, she always felt confident when it came to her business skills.

           Although not overly fond of any family that extended past his siblings, Matt had always felt an obligation towards his parents, and when his mother had asked him to pick up a wreath from the nearest Christmas Tree farm in preparation for Thanksgiving, he could hardly refuse. Wreath in hand, he was struck by the relative emptiness of the lot as he surveyed the surroundings. “At this rate – it looks they’ll be all out of Christmas trees before Thanksgiving’s even over. Aren’t people supposed to hold off until at least after Black Friday before getting their tree?” He mused, turning to glance at the person beside him with a quizzical expression crossing his features. “Do you think I should risk it?”

Adelaide stopped in her tracks as she noticed a Christmas tree farm. She decided to take a look around at it all. She wasn’t used to this type of stuff back in New York. She rose her brows at the guy who was talking. “Says a guy who is here trying to shop for one now.” she said and kind of asked questioned as well. “Personally I don’t really think I’m the right person to ask when it comes it real trees as I was grown up with all fake one’s.” she shrugged. “But based on the limited amount they have now then I would say why not.”

“Well her mistake is my gift.” Alex mused with a happy expression on her face. “That is true. Although right now I’m not sure I have the talent for it right now.” Gesturing for to sit down across from her. “Oh really. What two jobs are you currently working?” Alex questioned curiously. “It is amazing although I could use way more than ten minutes.”

“Clearly you’re getting some luck today.” she took another sip of her coffee before taking a seat. “I’d beg to differ.” Adelaide gave a light sigh. “Well for my mother I run her Cali based fashion house. Then for my father I run some business marketing stuff for him for his country clubs and resorts. Although most of them it feels like my mother’s job takes over my life.” she cleared her throat. “Then take some time before bed and enjoy some peace and quiet.”

“I love getting handed free things. Hell, I love those second hand clothes stores, there’s always something interesting in there.” Nina started, watching the cap in her hands. “But if you’re handing out free merch, at least put something awesome on it. I don’t need no tacky eagle on it. Fuck that man, I want a peacock.” 

“Yeah dirty, ripped and stained clothes which makes no sense why someone would want stuff like that” she shook her head. Adelaide would never shop at a thrift store, no matter how much she was trying to improve herself. “Okay fair warning peacocks are so not in style. If you’re wanting animal print, it’s all leopard.”

“You know about those studies where saying yes to more things will eventually better the quality of life, right? Given that it’s an acceptable thing you’re saying yes to, anyway.” He started, taking a look around him, hands warmed by the steaming cup of black coffee he’d bought a few minutes ago. “I think I’m going to do that. At least until the end of the year, then see if it’s my new resolution.. What do you think? Thoughts?” 

“I’ve more so heard about it then actually looking into it.” Adelaide took a sip of her coffee. “Personally I think it sounds exhausting. especially if you actually have a busy life of something. Plus I mean what happens if someone asks you to do something that you don’t know how to do.”

“Yes please.” Practically snatching it off the table, she put the cup to her lips. Listening to Adelaide’s story while she took a long drink, she was just thankful for the free coffee. “Well your mistake is clearly my blessing.” She told her with her accent popping out. At this point she didn’t even care what the coffee tasted like as long as it was coffee. “Ugh I wish, but hydrating face masks aren’t really on the menu when you’re working two jobs.” She hadn’t even actually had one when she worked one job, but still. “Unfortunately my client isn’t prone to waiting and he wants this living room done.” 

“Actually it was the barista's mistake but glad it can help.” Adelaide gave a grin before sneaking a peak at the girl’s work in front of her. “Clearly this job requires specific talent, talent that I can’t help but respect.” Adelaide took a sip of her coffee. “I work two jobs as well so I get the ‘rush’ feeling. Sure I work for both of my parents but even I always make sure to squeeze in at least 10 mins a day for some self pampering. It’s amazing what that little bit can do to a person” she shrugged.

“Well that’s alright, it’s just a small part of the holiday anyways.”  Eddie listened to her explain how her childhood hadn’t really involved much of Halloween, not until later on at least. “Oh wow, okay. That’s the most important part anyways then, the costumes. What about the rest of the holiday season though, like Thanksgiving?”

“Oh now Thanksgiving is a bit of a different story.” she moved on from all the Halloween talk. “Thanksgiving is only holiday where my parents tend to be with their offspring. But at the same time the dinners are usually filled with ‘family’ like employees, assistants and business like people.” Adelaide was partial to the holiday but it was no doubt a favorite of hers between that and Halloween.

Alex had been working on the new sketches for the Hamilton house for the past few days and with helping out at Lucky’s when there was a call off, to say she was exhausted from both jobs was an understatement. Desperately trying to keep her eyes open as she worked on the living room but her coffee had started to wear off her eyes were heavy. Putting the pencil down and she rested her head against her hand as she looked over her work — before she knew it she was asleep. 

Hearing a voice jolted her awake, she tried to play it off. “What I wasn’t sleeping, just resting my eyes.” She told them quickly. “What did you say again though if you don’t mind me asking? I was so focused on keeping my eyes closed that I didn’t hear you.” She lied, she leaned back in the chair to look at them. 

“Right.” Adelaide nodded before setting the extra cup of coffee down. “I was asking if you by chance wanted this coffee. The barista I got at the shop clearly lacked coffee making skills since they got this one wrong and well I was going to give it to my assistant but you clearly need it way more.”  she pushed the coffee cup to Alex whether she accepted it or not before taking a sip of her own. “Not that you asked but I would highly recommend taking a break from whatever you’re doing and go clean up because clearly you are exhausted and are in desperate need of a hydrating face mask.”

Taking a few steps inside of the cafe Chloe could already feel her mouth water some as the scent of the food hit her. Making her way to the hostess stand she waited towards the entrance at Ricci’s she let her eyes glance over at the bar. “Wasn’t expecting this place to be so popular.” She admitted to whom she assumed was another prospect next to her. “Have you eaten here before?” 

Adelaide responded to some texts and emails while she waited for her table to be ready. She was hungry and wanted a drink to distress from the day as best as she could. She looked to the other girl next to her when she heard her start talking. “Well between the menu and atmosphere it makes sense.” she nodded. “I have, multiple times actually.”
