I have a couple other mental illnesses besides adhd. I sometimes mix up the symptoms. I'm not going to say what they are here, but it's probably somewhere on my blog.

I'm in the PST (UCT-7) timezone!

I have a really, really shitty sleep schedule.

Purple dead-nettle is a weedy winter annual (sometimes a summer annual) in the mint family (Lamiaceae). It is usually considered a common lawn weed and originates from Europe and Asia. The common name “purple dead-nettle” refers to the resemblance of Lamium leaves to those of the nettle family (Urticaceae), members of which often have stinging hairs. Lamium does not have stinging hairs (and is, hence, “dead”). The species epithet is Latin for “purple,” which describes the flowers and the subtending leaves.

Some areas call it purple archangel, because it appears there around the Feast of the Apparition (May 8th). This was when the archangel Michael was said to have appeared on Mount Gargano, Italy, in the sixth century. White dead nettle is sometimes called bee nettle. This is because it provides an early source of pollen and nectar, so it’s very popular with bees (and children! Kids sometimes suck the nectar from white dead nettle flowers. In Lancashire, it was said that white dead nettle flowers always come in twos, because they’re actually pixie shoes that have been left outside. These flowers also have two black spots inside, which are sometimes called “Cinderella’s slippers.”

Young plants have edible tops and leaves, which can be used in salads or stir-fried as a spring vegetable. The herb has a venerable pedigree in the folk medicine of England, featuring as it does as one of three medicinal/symbolic plants called for in the Anglo-Saxon herb charm Wið færstice (meaning 'against a sudden/violent stabbing pain'). The charm in question (dating, according to scholarly consensus, probably from the late ninth century) calls for the three herbs involved (the other two being feverfew and plantain) to be heated in butter to prepare an ointment, which is then rubbed on the site of the pain with the blade of a knife, while the lengthy charm is recited by the folk practitioner, who thereby aligns themself with the patient – in contradistinction to the evil supernatural beings believed to have caused the pain with their magical arrows.
