Gentle Reminder
I know it can be really scary to talk about something you like.
You get excited and you go off on a speech about this this because you REALLY LOVE IT and you are pulling examples and explaining things and you are putting yourself out there because you love this thing.
And… sometimes…. people don’t respond to it as well as they should.
They hurt you.
Whether it’s from responding negatively or ignoring your interest all together. They tell you to be quiet. They hurt you.
And that’s not fun. It doesn’t feel good. It makes you scared to do it again.
But… you should.
Because it’s important to you. This thing. And that makes it worth sharing.
I know it’s scary. People have hurt you. But there are people out there who are going to listen.
They are going to enjoy the way that your eyes light up when you start talking about it. They will happily respond to texts at 2 am about theories. They will remember what you say and ask questions about it. They will be excited with you.
All you have to do is find each other.
So talk about your interests. Go on rants. Make charts and diagrams. It’s ok!
If someone responds negatively to it, then ignore them. They don’t deserve your excitement and happiness. You aren’t annoying and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. It makes you happy. And that’s all that matters.
So share your thing. Talk about it all you want to. It’s ok.
Someone will listen.
