The Blue Comet continues to be a little avant garde with their salad concept.
Sometimes, you gotta spent 6hrs taking every key off of a keyboard from the 90′s just so you can fix a couple of broken counterweights... but it’s so worth it. I’ve never found a weighted-action controller that I liked quite as much as an old Ensoniq ZR-76. The sounds are pretty dated, but not unusable... however the way it feels is just lovely!
Out in Manayunk, recording at The Grape Room for Wasted Robot Records’ artist, Michael Brooks. The album, Watch This, comes out on June 1st! Stay tuned for more!!
After 11 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, we finally went all the way! As much as I’m not a rabid sports fan... the excitement down on the field was amazing. We work hard to put on an incredible show, game after game, and it’s always fun to see this crew.
Another great album recording at Helium Comedy Club in Philadelphia! Mary Radzinski knocked ‘em dead tonight! We got a great recording, and I also experimented with shooting a video of the night. Turns out, I could pretty easily shoot a 2-3 camera video production without a huge crew. This album should be out this summer!
Had a really amazing session with Dave Schonauer at Morninstar Studios for the Marie Begins sessions. This interactive opera will be featured on the web early next year. I’m helping to produce multiple pieces of music that will be part of a web-series of interactive, choose your own adventure, operatic movements. It’s an original concept from Ellen Fishman-Johnson, and is set to a jazz-trio. Everyone played great, and working on the new Neve Genesys was a real treat!
Got drums set up for recording of @thedeepcutsmusic, which is my original band with Doug Ritts and Brian Duffy. We’ve been playing together off & on since 2003, and after writing some new material, it was time to put together a new EP. We all keep pretty busy schedules, so we’re not sure how fast this will come together.
Taking a long weekend in Portland to learn a little more about mixing techniques at Jackpot! Recording with founder of TapeOp, Larry Crane! This whole weekend of learning techniques and talking to others has really opened my eyes up about a few different approaches that I can’t wait to use on my upcoming projects!
Not that I have anything against store-bought racks / cables... but when you build it / fix it yourself, there’s a real sense of satisfaction... Also far less curled-up excess cable behind your gear racks / desks.
On March 9th, 2016 we recorded a fantastic album with Blake Wexler at Helium Comedy club in Philadelphia. Go check it out on spotify now!
Pat Barker had a great week; flying back to his home town to record his debut comedy album, Nice Jokes, and then get married. Congrats, all-around Pat!
Philly favorite, Pat House, had me out to record his first comedy album, Biggest Thing and it’s been a huge hit! He tours pretty regularly and opens for acts like Tom Segura, Dom Irrera, and many others!
in 2013, I finished a record for Philly/Lancaster based rock band, Great Big House. The project was tracked at Forge Recording Studios, and finished up at my home studio.
Out with the old, in with the new! Doing a little re-vamp for Bobby McFerrin in his Philadelphia home studio.
Preview Across from the Adonis by Chip Chantry on Apple Music. 2012. 25 Songs. Duration: 1 hour 2 minutes. Buy the album for $9.99.
This is the first live comedy album I’ve ever recorded, and it was a blast to capture. Prior to this album, I’d been shooting videos of stand-up, improv, and sketch comedy groups for a while, but making a stand-up record is a really fun project. It was a packed house and a great performance!
Here are some shots from the recording:
