do you ever just sit and stare into distance thinking about all the things bbc sherlock could have done and chose not to?
Yes, but I actually end up thinking more about the very specific things they could have chosen NOT to do, yet still⊠did.
Me every second of every day since tfp
Yes. Both. Often. Every day since TFP.Â
in todayâs edition of actual sherlock script or fanfic:
but the real question is whose shaft dazzles
Seriously, what on earth would âthe dazzling shaftâ even mean? Is this a Twilight vampirelock AU?Â
mycroft: iâm dating lady smallwood sherlock: oh are you going to be mister smallwood now john: i think he already is [sherlock and john high five]
Sherlock and John derive their energy from toast, takeaway, and SICK MYCROFT BURNS.
Not only is it clear that the scripts are not the âfinal versions,â I would also just like to remind everyone, for the hundred thousandth time, once and for all, that Martin and Ben are terrific actors but have absolutely no power to overrule a script. They can ad-lib a line here and there, especially a cute joke (âAm I the current King of England?â), but they cannot change the meaning of the entire show on their own.
The reason the scenes in the show differ from the scenes in the script is because the script was changed by Moffat and Gatiss. Period.
It defies belief to think that Martin and Ben could take it upon themselves to tell a different story than the one the showrunners were telling and have the showrunners just go along with it, informing their directors and editors to just *sigh* go ahead and do what Ben and Martin want, theyâre the ones really in charge. Yes, there has been a history of actors âsecretlyâ playing characters as gay, but that doesnât extend to changing the dialogue in multiple scenes to suit their own ideas.
If you are a TJLCer and you honestly believe that Ben and Martin conjured up Johnlock all on their own, then how do you explain the âoh my godâ and âmy husband was just the sameâ appearing in the ASiP script, âbathed in starlightâ appearing in the TGG script, the subtext in the script throughout the whole show, the subtext in the visuals throughout the whole show (including Sherlockâs flashbacks to ASiP!John in TLD), the subtext in the music throughout the whole show, and the fact that they apparently both decided to abandon this plan mere days after forcing yet another aborted love confession onto their weak, pushover showrunners at the end of TLD? If this was an actor-led coup that required the cooperation of the editors, directors, cinematographers, lighting directors, production designer, costume/hair/make-up team, and composers, then why didnât it succeed? Why no romantic John-in-a-blanket scene?
Iâm honestly confused as to why TJLC not only throws out seven years of consistent evidence, some of which it just got its hands on yesterday, just because a clearly incomplete, non-final script has surfaced, but has also embraced the long-debunked idea that Moffat and Gatiss have no partnership with their actors with allows for the exchange of ideas in both directions (Martin deciding to replace a line with a look, which the showrunners obviously approve of, because theyâve spoken about it with admiration; Moffat and Gatiss deciding to tell the actors to do something that they havenât written into the script, which the showrunners haveâŠalso acknowledged that they do).
I have been thinking the exact same thing. Martin and Ben have NOT changed the direction of this story. Moffat and Gatiss came to them with an idea and the actors jumped on board â very enthusiastically, keep in mind. Moffat and Gatiss are not being duped by everyone else associated with the show. This is THEIR show. They are writers AND creators. They have absolute control over what comes out. To think Moffat and Gatiss wrote the show one way and then the actors took it in a different direction without them noticing or caring is, quite honestly, the craziest thing Iâve ever heard. And that means a lot coming from the person who encourages people to wear tinfoil hats so Derren Brown canât infiltrate our thoughts.
Sherlock + ?????
Sherlock + hip with all the young kids lingo cause he's cool like that
AND IF IT BEGINS ANYWHERE, IT BEGINS HERE
STOP THIS NOW
death would be kinder
Like, EXCUSE YOU MOFTISS
I need to see this For research reasons Like Can you imagine Benedict just so enthusiastic, passionately kissing Andrew -whoâs like damn its Benedict Cumberbatch no need to complain- and meanwhile Mark and Sue standing there like âEhrm⊠Ben⊠Ben- you shouldnât- ben! Is that - and thereâs the french kissing, greatâ
Perfectly understandable; I mean, who, upon being instructed to just nearly kiss Andrew Scott, wouldnât suddenly encounter issues with their short-term memory?
This will forever be my favourite.
URG except in that interview Andrew said they never actually kissedâŠwhich is fine, thatâs fineâŠbut now Iâm imagining Andrew having to go BEN STOP, near kiss, remember?!? and just laughing and then them both laughing at the completely ridiculous fact of the entire thing.

new rosie headcanon: at age 4-5 rosie gets really into fairytales and princes and princesses and all that jazz and she adores love stories and sherlock is so good at telling good night stories but theyâre never about love, theyâre always about adventures and good people defeating bad people and daddy and sherlock running through london at night chasing thieves and villains and itâs exciting but ⊠there has to be more to it, right? so one evening she and john are sleeping over at 221B rosie asks sherlock to tell her a love story and sherlock starts out like âmmh wellâŠum⊠once upon a time there was a princess in a land far far away,â and heâs already lost because heâs really not good with princes and princesses falling in love, and rosie interrupts him because heâs getting this all wrong anyway, a true love story has to be Real, so she asks if sherlock has ever been in love? and sherlockâs smile falters for a second and then it comes back, brighter than before but a bit bittersweet and maybe a bit sad, and he says âyes, once,â and rosie wants to know if it was a princess or a prince and sherlock tells her it was a prince, a beautiful, brave one who had faught many battles and defeated bad people and healed good ones before he met sherlock, and the very first night they spent together an evil cabbie tried to kill sherlock, but his new friend, his prince, saved sherlockâs life and sherlock fell in love instantly â and rosie asks why sherlock and the brave man he fell in love with are not together and sherlock just smiles and explains to her that the prince didnât love sherlock back, not like that, he fell in love with a beautiful woman a while later and even married her, and thatâs okay because when you really love someone, sometimes you have to give them up so they can be happy. sometimes love stories are a bit sad but theyâre still love stories, and sherlock has many happy memories with the man he loves and thatâs enough, and sherlock is slowly starting to feel extremely weird, opening up about unrequited love to a 5 year old who should have been asleep 30 minutes ago, the subject of the conversation being her father whoâs waiting downstairs with the tea thatâs getting cold but⊠sherlock just keeps going, he canât really stop, until rosie is sleepy enough for him to give her a good night kiss on the forehead and switch the light off.
so the thing is, rosie is not an idiot and when theyâre sitting at the breakfast table the next morning she fumbles with her toast gives sherlock a look and says, âis it daddy?â and sherlock nearly drops his fork and says âWhatâ and rosie just completely matter-of-factly says âthe prince. the one you fell in love with. who saved you from the cabbie. i think itâs daddyâ and. sherlock and john on opposite ends of the kitchen table just. fucking dying.
This is why you can't tell children your secrets. TRUST NO FIVE YEAR OLDS
