☕ Josie + revenge

I give this whole arc in general a 6/10. Solely because Josie finally showing actual anger about what happened to her is something I’ve been waiting for since season 2.

One thing I can’t get past is how Josie and Melanie ever interact again… not even once and how the writers just pushed her revenge arc onto Mrs doctor Headwood. I think she should have gone through with killing Dr. Headwood purely to giver her a semi-satisfying ending. I despiseeee how the show kinda forgot about what happened to Josie when we could’ve had one of the most tense “reunions” in the show if they ever actually addressed each other once Melanie came back.

Also I have to add how vague the whole experiments in the silo plot line was. What exactly happened in there and why did she come out so angry (apart from the whole blood snatching thing). I can’t forget to mention how it KILLS me that she never found out about the whole Zarah trying to kill her ordeal cause I know the whole forgiveness things would’ve been out the window 🥴

This season’s gift to me however is unhinged!Josie’s revenge rampage so I’ll happily take it.

Really feeling some snowpiercer fandom nostalgia today. I loved getting to play around after s2, before s3, when we knew the characters were stuck on the pirate train for six months until the next episode, and we just got to make up what might happen without any idea what s3 would be. Watching s3 "together", talking about each episode after it aired, was the highlight of my week for the whole time s3 was airing. Creating silly, chaotic ideas for events after the disconnection at the end of s3 was really fun, too! I got too busy with real life a few months after s3, so I didn't get to write as much as I wanted to, but I still got to write some fun smut, make Uncle Till a dad, try to make any sense of Audrey's character, etc.

The characters used to be compelling, even if not consistent/well written. And the strange pacing with gaps for everyone/at least some characters left us with so many opportunities to at least chat about fun scenarios, if not write fics about the.

But with the staggered release of s4 episodes squashing fandom interactions due to spoiler avoidance, plus the vastly reduced screen time for many of the fandom favourite main characters, there's just not the same kind of energy, fun or general momentum for that same kind of fun/fic throughout s4, let alone post-canon - despite all the fix-its I'm sure are brewing in fans' minds.

There's not much point to this post - I'm definitely not expecting a return to the fun and chaos of a couple of years ago for the last couple of fragmented weeks of s4. Idk, I just love and miss you nerds, and the version of the show & fandom that brought us all together.
