Hi, I'm Elaine! I run a Minecraft server for a bunch of kids whom I adore. This is my story!

Green Canyon through the years. Dang this is a gorgeous town.

My mapings of the Green Canyon seemed outdated.. The Canyon has changed in subtle ways. Apparently the citizens took on the art of pig racing..

Day becomes night, you are presented with a crossroads. An old cobblestone fortress lies in the distance, the rickety signs point into the horizon. "Northwind National Park & Preserve" points Northwest. You've not heard of a park laying beyond the Tundra, perhaps it was new. Nature heals itself that way.. Reclaiming itself from the past settlements of what once was. The sign pointing Eastwards provides little to no information.. "Olde Fortress" but who laid claim to their construction? The village you'd passed through was as frigid as the snow and icy landscape. They offered no help to answer your questions. What road would you take?

ENDERCON AGAIN!!! This year we had Spleef, pig racing (on a special new Rainbow Road!!!), more dance parties, and an excellent scavenger hunt orchestrated by Littlestarm, one of our wonderful players!

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been three whole years since the server opened! How crazy is that? Here’s to another fun year!!!

Green Canyon at night, a sight that brings no fright. Only, perhaps.. Delight? The safety and comfort it brings, to wander a city without fear. The city itself brings new life at night, the sky lit ablaze with the twinkling glow of sea lanterns, glowstone, and even the lone campfire or two. Safety is felt here. Green Canyon is a second home to even those in the far reaches of Prismarine Nation. The sunrise is a sight to behold and the rain falling into the canyon villages below brings a gentle touch of drowzy comfort. This, is why many here stay, and stop to have a drink at the milk and cookies bar. Laughter amongst friends, and screams of joy erupt from the Spleef arena, and studious paper turning is heard within the Order Hall. Admins at work, and residents at play, a simple life but a enjoyable one.

1.16 Update

I don’t have any pictures today, but I thought I should let everyone know that for the past few weeks the server has been operating stably on 1.16! So no need to worry, we are still up-to-date! Explore the new Nether to your heart’s content!

An update on the mods’ journey in the new world! First pic: the view from our treehouse a couple weeks ago. (We’ve been fancying up the walls between our weekly adventures.) After that we conquered an ocean monument, but I was dumb and forgot to take pictures, and today we cleared a woodland mansion! One of the mods, my sister, was thinking of turning it into a Wayne Manor type deal, but Blu, who has an innate and visceral hatred of just, like, buildings I guess? And anything that slightly inconveniences us, like guardians, and illagers, lit a fire before we realized and it spread fast. And then, well, the others joined in, and long story short I think we destroyed a good half of a dark oak forest biome. We might have to reevaluate who we think our group’s griefer is!

Clearing the mansion was originally gonna be the end of our adventure, but the others have decided we should go and beat the dragon again! So we’ve got one more thing to do before we come home.

ADVENTURE!!!

Yes, indeed, we are BACK and better than ever! Thanks to an upgrade to the server’s memory, we’re now running Minecraft Java Edition 1.15. Wandering far enough from our spawn town of Green Canyon will take you to never-before-generated chunks, which will form consistently with the latest updates. That means icebergs, oceans full of life, updated villages, and BEES! Wonderful, adorable, beloved bees! (Seriously this is so much better than the Forestry mod. They’re SO. CUTE.)

But why explore to the far reaches of just one world? With the help of our Multiverse plugin, you can discover a whole network of portals leading to different worlds... if you can find it!

Along with the updates come new threats to our world--chiefly, illagers! With the 1.14 village update, pillager patrols have begun to spawn around the world. We’ll need your help to defend the villages in the canyon that our home is named for!

More technically speaking: With the re-addition of the Multiverse plugin and the server’s memory upgrade, we’ve essentially future-proofed our server. As new updates arrive, more portals will open in the network, giving players direct access to the new content, which they can then bring back home whenever they like. Explore as far as you want, as much as you want, in any world--nothing will ever be truly outdated, not anymore.

Now, a more personal update: My best friends--the four moderators of our server, our Order of the Stone--will be joining me on an adventure to one of the worlds in the network--a brand new, freshly-generated 1.15 world. We’ll be starting our adventure in the morning (Saturday, May 30th), and once we leave, the way to the portal network will be open! Players should feel free at that point to try following us to the network, if you can! The portal to our old interim Update Aquatic world is open, and so will be the portal to the new world--but beware! The exit portal from the 1.15 world won’t activate until the mods and I come home in a few weeks, so if you follow us there, you could be stuck for a while.

It makes me so happy and proud to really come back to the game again, and particularly to our big, beautiful world. I can’t wait to make it so much bigger. See you there!

So... I was hilariously wrong in my assumption that when summer began, my being busy would end. Fortunately, my weekends are back to being real weekends for the most part, which means that finally, finally, I get to debut a party that I’ve been planning for most of the year.

EnderCon. Three days, three nights, one epic virtual convention.

I’d originally planned for it to happen all the way back in June. I’m disappointed that I’ll have to do it so close to our Founding Day (which is October 5th) but this has after all been my first attempt at anything like this! (Now I know never to do events in the summer when I’m always working.)

Anyway, there’ll be neat lil’ booths lining GC’s streets, and cool games and panels for people to go to! I should have a fixed time frame for the convention in the next few days, I think, and hopefully a solid schedule for the weekend soon after. Here’s hoping.

Yes, hello!! I’m terribly sorry for the inactivity lately, I have become embroiled with “real-life” work. That’ll be over in a week or so though, so I’ll be spending a lot more time back in the game and on this blog!

As for your questions, lovely anons, the server is very active! You’re absolutely welcome to join the discord and get whitelisted, or just to hang out with the community if you don’t have Java Edition yet.

Do you use mods on your server?

We do not. I wanted to replicate my experience of Survival Multiplayer back in the day, and also to give players the closest approximation I could to the Minecraft experience that MCSM characters live, which was… I mean, pretty much literally that. So we have some plugins to make things fun and safe and cool, but no mods. Vanilla for life!
