✫: A long time ago (back in 2009,) I made a Kidzbop account. This was when it was trying to make a ‘kid-friendly’ version of Facebook, so you could do instant messaging and start threads on other users’ walls and in images through comments. The most popular characters to roleplay were Sonic fan characters, usually made through MS Paint (some well-liked artists did their works in Sai or Gimp, and were practically worshiped,) so I made a couple. (I think their names were Phantom, Maria, and some Sonic clone I forgot-) Like most users, I had to find ways of bypassing the strange filter (I particularly remember they wouldn’t let us use the word ‘jumps’ for some reason, and then words like kill, etc.,) and managed to do it somewhat well. I mostly did script-styled roleplays at the time because of the character limit.
Around the same time I joined Neopets, where I discovered forum roleplaying. I decided it was okay to join as an overpowered 14 year old girl who could apparently arm wrestle with a burly man and win, and I was told that my character was over-powered and asked if this was my first time roleplaying. It was a shocker to me, especially since these people were like 16+ and had an idea of what they were doing. I admitted that I didn’t really know how to roleplay, expecting to be bullied by them. However, they gently told me about lurking in different forums and learning how to roleplay by reading before hopping into any more forums. It helped me a lot to see how others wrote and created plots; eventually I watched enough and created my own forums, meeting new friends and making lots of characters. My time there helped me grow as a writer and roleplayer- I don’t think I’d be the person I am without those people!
A few years later, I graduated from Kidzbop and Neopets and moved to DeviantArt, an experienced roleplayer of 3+ years. While my grammar wasn’t the best, I was learning from others, developing my own writing style in the process. I joined a lot of roleplay/art groups, joining and leaving fandoms all the while.
Now, 7 years later, I’m running an awesome roleplay/ask blog with a lot of followers and new friends! My journey has been somewhat long and tedious, but thanks to the help of strangers and fellow roleplayers alike, I’ve grown a lot.
☄: I actually don’t like Todomatsu too much. The way he treats his brothers like lesser beings and how he tries to avoid them in public makes me mad, but I enjoy writing him out and seeing how he works.
