Sorry what the hell is communication design again? Legitimately asking...
Can I just say that I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the most iconic duo’s (Andy and Karen) antics and personality that they brought to every lecture and workshop early on a Friday morning. Unlike the “Colour and Information design” course, the title of this course does not give away a whole lot about what it may include. To begin with I was very unsure about what sort things I would be covering in this course. Given how broad “Communication Design Studies” is I’m not sure what I really expected to get out of this course at the beginning. The amount of freedom offered in this course allows for some truely creative thinking. Teaching creativity is something that I think is an impossible task but to facilitate an environment where creativity can evolve is something truely unique and special. I think that this course (especially the workshops) is a true example of how this sort of environment allows for creativity to blossom.
I think that the participation in this course has really evolved my creativity in a way that I couldn’t have imagined at the beginning of the year. In that sense I guess I achieved some objectives I didn’t know existed.
Aside from the personal development that I made in this course I feel as though I was able to discover a lot of information about the history of communication design and what people have been able to achieve in the past. The things that I found most interesting were the big changes that certain people or movements were able to achieve. Things such as medieval, early print and Bauhaus that changed the way creativity was conceptualised really fascinated me.
This course offered me something that I have never had before - that is an environment that stimulated group work among other creatives. This was a true highlight for me.
Thank you so much to all those who made this experience and incredible one x
