To make sure I did this right: I posted my work to the challenge but it does not appear in my own works. This still means that the work is properly posted?
that’s a good thing, that means it’s hidden until the reveal date! don’t worry, it’ll show up in your works once it’s live.
Do treats need to be posted by the deadline as well?
Treats are ideally due by the 23rd. when the reveals are made :) But if you write for a prompt later you can add it to the collection if you like!
Important: how to fulfil your assignment on AO3
Do not post your assignment as a new work the way you usually would!
Go to http://archiveofourown.org/users/YOURUSERNAME/assignments and hit “fulfil” from that page.
To post treats go the the collection page and hit “post to collection”.

If your gift isn’t finished by whenever the 16th ends where you are, please message us here, Discord or at [email protected] to let us know. Whether it’s “I’m at work so won’t be able to post until tuesday” or “I’m really stuck and think I need a couple more days”, please let us know. We want to keep track of any unfinished gifts and get them finished in the next week.
Remember you can edit your gift up until the 23rd if you need to do minor edits or betas.
If you’re finished, consider joining the pinch hitter list or writing treats!
“How finished does by gift have to be?”
The deadline is the 16th. The reveal date is the 23rd. This means there’s a week that is mostly for cramming any pinch hits together or writing treats rather than having to rush to finish, but it also means you have time to polish your gifts, or that extra time if you need it.
On the 16th your gift should ideally be in a state where if you could never touch it again, it would still be “finished”
You can use the time before posting for having fics beta’d
You can rework bits or add new stuff
If you don’t finish by the 16th but are sure it’ll be done by the 23rd, please just drop us a line here or at [email protected] so we’re in the loop.
Does the word count for fics mean one piece is minimum 1k? Or can I give my giftee two 500+ wc fics?
Your assignment-fulfilling gift needs to be 1000 words minimum - but you are free to make your giftee extra treats that can be any length.
After you finish your main gift, are you allowed to write and gift treats for other participants? And are there any different rules for treats versus main fills?
Absolutely! You’re welcome to create as many treats as you like, for whatever prompts/people you like. Just post them to the collection, and they’ll be revealed at the posting date.
The only difference in rules is that minimum word counts/finish requirements don’t apply to treats :)
Hello, can I post the gift as soon as it's finished?
You can post it to the collection as soon as you’re finished, and it will remain unrevealed until the reveal date. When the posting date draws near you may want to edit your gift and set the posting date to one closer to the date, because if you posted it 3 weeks before deadline it’ll end up back a few pages in general tags.
If you haven’t received an email about your assignment, remember to check your spam folder!

Since our sign up process didn’t use many tags, the assignments are very random - I’ve given them a cursory tweak just to make sure nobody will be matched with stuff they won’t/can’t create for - I hope everyone has got a match they can make work for them!
Remember, as long as you don’t cross your giftee’s squicks/triggers/do not wants, you are free to be as creative you want while using their prompts as a jumping-off point.
I’ve set up a Discord channel for the exchange, for those who want to chat (without revealing who you’re writing for!) or to talk about adoribull in general. I can also be DMd there if you need to discuss the exchange.

Your offering is what you’re willing to write/draw for the exchange. Eg, you might put “I love writing modern aus and adventure fics, but i don’t write sex scenes” in which case we would try to match you with someone who wants a modern au or adventure fic, but not someone who wants sex scenes.

When you make your requests for this exchange, they should be concise - it’s about giving your gifter a jumping off point, rather than dictating the ins and outs of their gift to you. That’s part of the fun, in the spirit of being surprised! (You will be able to specify triggers//squicks/things you do not want to receive, however).
Fic writers and artists are both welcome for this exchange! Fic gifts must be 1000 words long minimum. Art gifts must be finished, whatever that means per your art style.
As this challenge is based on AO3, you will need an AO3 account to participate! If you don’t have an account, please message us with your email and we will send you an invite!

What’s different to last year?
The dates are later, sign up window is longer, and there won’t be an anonymous reveal this year - when gifts are posted, it’ll be with creator names attached from the start :)
If you want to create treats (fics that are not assignments) you don’t even have to be part of the challenge, and they don’t have to hit the min word count for fics. Just post them to the collection like you would a normal fic and they’ll be posted with the rest of the work.

I was looking through the requests, and I saw one requester where each of their prompts is something I would LOVE to do/hit all the things I love to draw/write. I feel like i would be a VERY good pick for me. Am I allow to request a certain person or is that against the rules of the exchange? I feel VERY strongly I could give them exactly what they want for the exchange this year!!
That is against the spirit of the exchange, but hopefully your offers and their wishes will be a good match up!
