My colleague, Art, wrote a really great and insightful piece about Apple's contentious relationship with their investors. If you're part of the "cult of Mac" you should check it out.
Hey nerds! Elliott Serrano here, your Redeye Resident Geek Expert, with a warning...
I contributed to El's Geek to Me column on the RedEye this week with some V-Day advice for geeks and nerds… check it out! =)
A follow up to my November article about legislation snaking its' way thru Congress that is supposed to address the issue of patent trolling in consumer tech and other innovator industries.
UpKates 2014
I'm in the process of revamping my concept of what I'm going to do with this website. But here are a few things which are going on that you guys might not know about:
I'm super-duper preggo (7months) and gleefully waiting the birth of my own, little geek girl this coming May
I married British Boy (father of said in-utero geek girl)
We're buying a house
I started a new job (as noted in previous blog post) in November
Life has been a little cray, to say the least
Some other cool stuff:
I'm doing a lot of writing about consumer tech, as opposed to comics -- I'll be posting some links to some of my favorite pieces in the next few days
Elliott and I are reviving Keep Your Pants On for the Chicago RedEye - it will be a once per month column, something much more manageable than a weekly
I got to speak as an "expert" at The University of Chicago last week - it was stupidly cool!
I'm working on a book proposal in my spare time (wtf is that?) called "The Geek Girl's Guide to Everything"
So a lot going on… going to try to get back to writing here on a daily basis, but no promises. In the meantime, a picture of shirtless David Tennant:
You are quite welcome.
Up-Kates - why I have been ignoring the Internet
In October I left Coderella Consulting to take a job with Chicago based ComboApp. My official title is "PR Writer" and I'm really enjoying working here...
British Boy and I are expecting a baby in May.
In a little under a month we're getting married.
As work and my personal life is completely cray at the moment, I'm taking a break from pop-culture writing for the foreseeable future.
BUT - I'm doing a lot of writing about consumer tech and consumer tech trends for ComboApp. Check out some of my work:
GAMING THE SYSTEM: IS USER ACQUISITION STRATEGY TANTAMOUNT TO “SELLING” APP STORE RANKING?

Bat-fleck Speaks: Ben Affleck Addresses Haters on Jimmy Fallon
I love that he says in the interview that he spent most of his life thinking he was “as intelligent” as women, until he had kids and watched his son run into walls. I think he also handles the criticism surrounding his casting as Batman with aplomb and…

Hey guys! Keep your eyes peeled, as I'll be launching a whole new website on October 1, 2013 which incorporates all of the following:
Comix Chix podcast
Comic convention panel/appearance schedule (for me, yo!)
Ppl H8 Me On The Internet book news
Max Tango: Canine Private Eye comic book news
Links to my writings on other sites like The Beat, etc.
Adorkable Grrl blog (retitled: Adorka-blog)
And, some new and shiny stuff...
I'm still debating on what to call the site (right now I'm leaning towards "The Notorious Ka.T.E." - hit me up via Twitter or FB if you have a better idea.) But, regardless of name, this site will start automatically redirecting to it in a little over eight weeks. Till then, I might be kind of heads down - as I'm trying to finish up the first draft of my memoir and hook in a new publisher for Max Tango.
I honestly and truly appreciate your continued interest in my life. =)
Kiss, kiss~
