With his arms crossed, he looked at the work that had already been done and what still needed to be finished. He let out a sigh. âYouâd think theyâd be done with my house huh?â He said to the approaching person. âOn the bright side, I can redecorate,â the vampire let out a chuckle, though there was nothing funny about the situation. Adrian was still bitter about his home being lit up, and for what? For being a vampire.Â

Indigo leaned back some and cast a neutral gaze on Adrian as the vampire developed this hypothetical situation all at once. He swiveled a black pen he kept on his person atop the table and seemed to be considering the idea. Playfully. âYou may not have a day of formal training, but you are good at taking instruction.â When Adrian wanted to that is. Anyone else who dared nurse the wolf while he lay bare and vulnerable might end up crushed between his rows of teeth. The smallest of smiles were sacrificed as Adrian teased and nudged. Damn child⌠yet he was far older than Indigo. Only in years. âKilling you would be one method of keeping you safe.â The scientist considered aloud. Indie tilt his head to the side slightly. âThat would be wise.â Adrian, wise? He waited to hear moreâŚ
He sat up straighter in his chair and pretended to fix a tie he wasnât wearing. Yes he could take direction well, Indie would know. âOh, Iâd be the best nurse youâve ever had.â The vampire wiggled his eyebrows at the wolf. He laughed once again at Indigoâs method. âThere is a downside to this method... Youâd be bored without me,â he grinned, his eyes going down to the other manâs hands. âI suppose,â he leaned in âkind of hard to figure out who not to trust though. I know we just said no one, but that would include the people I already talk to.â Adrian laid his hand on one of his âPerhaps I should just lock myself away? Minutes ago I was thinking of leaving for a while..â

The uptight werewolf wasnât much for juvenile stunts, but he couldnât contain a small âpfftâ toward the very idea. âI actually will never experience illness.â Partly because of his pure werewolf lineage and another because he was obsessed with leading a clean life. After Ashenvale that practice had grown more intense. He had his pride to consider and needed good practices to back up the big talk. âI hate hospitals just as much, staying at home or a private lab would be better anyway.â Adrianâs touch to Lucroyâs pitch black hair brought the calmness back. There was always something to prove, but the initial shock factor and this current reality hanging over the doctor faded away painlessly. Was it the dog nature in him or something else? Whichever, Indigo was finally relaxed again and all attention was on the vampire. Funny enough, Adrianâs question was the last to strike Lucroyâs curiosity. âThat is a puzzle.â One he had no answer to. For once. Black eyes look over Adrian as if the vampire were that very puzzle heâd mentioned. âWith that knowledge; you shouldnât trust anyone right now. Not till the murderer is caught.â Murderers? Indie despised speculationâŚ
He laughed. Unless the illness were something magical that infected those non-humans, Indigo wouldnât be strapped down to a hospital bed. Good, it was something he didnât like picturing. âThere is also my home, pretty big, comfortable beds, could get you a live-in nurse.Heck, I could be your nurse if you wanted.â That would be a terrible idea, but he would spoil his wolf. Adrian stayed quiet for a moment. What Indigo was saying was true, and this conversation was much too serious... âSo I shouldnât trust you?â His eyebrow quirked upwards. He smirked while nudging the wolf with his elbow. âPromise to make it quick? Stake in the heart. And donât miss,â he joked. The vampire gave a small chuckle and shook his head. âYouâre right, of course. I feel like... I donât know, a kid? I probably shouldnât go anywhere alone or go to Fang Hang.â

To hear Adrianâs voice was other worldly. It had just been too long and far; time spent overseas for research. Growing. There were phone calls, but more traditional letter writing too. Poetry. Through scrawled script Indigo could practically hear Adrianâs voice. Perhaps the wolf was merely crazy (wouldnât be the first accusation) but there was no question that an impact had been made on âstone-coldâ Indigo Lucroy since meeting the vampire. He had been on his mind, as he often was when Indie had a rare slow moment to himself as he did now, so the voice didnât grab his attention immediately. Indie smiled to himself, bashfully, embarrassed, and when his head finally rose up the good doctor was even more-so. By chance, it was actually Adrian. And Indigo had been smiling to himself like a loon. Both eyes opened wide and he awkwardly flattened his lips into a straight line. âUhâŚâ Stupid. âNo, no. Iâm completely in good health.â Indigo said sharp, matter of factly, and his gaze was downcast again with brows furrowed to bring back a sense of control. His head wasnât in the clouds, never would beâto an outsiders knowledge. ââand Iâm not clumsy, this was justâ⌠Iâm⌠reading the news.â
Once the mess was gone, Adrian rested his hand on the back of the wolfâs chair, basking in the warmth his skin naturally gave off. âIâm glad youâre in good health, Iâm not a fan of hospitals,â it was the smell, he was sure âand if you were sick we would have to go visit one.â At the mention of news, the vampires eyes looked down at the newspaper. There it was again. âCrazy stuff huh?â he said as if it were nothing. He looked back towards Indigo. Adrian moved his hand from the chair up towards the other manâs hair, caressing it lightly before letting his hand swing back down to his side and take a seat in the empty chair. âI wonder how they even did it? I mean... Vampires arenât weak, ya know?âÂ

Indigo sat beside the wide display window of Rockinâ Rolls Bakery. Outside, where the air was fresh and warmed the born werewolfâs already heated skin. The quiet public streets of downtown Klamenth Falls finally allowed the professor to enjoy his vacation in peace, but the tragic reality of this infection and Monday mornings bold headline made any attempt to relax impossible. When vampires had been mercilessly burned and one in particular stood at risk. Forgetting his own strength and grip on the half-full mug of black coffee, the handle crumbled in that moment leaving the cup to clatter over and spill. âShitâŚâ Lucroy hissed under a breath. This wasnât a first⌠but it had been a great while. Something familiar to the wolf was getting to him. He laid out the paper and set to collect the fractured ceramic.
Things were becoming a bit too hectic for the vampireâs liking. Burnings? Really? And as easy as it was to scoff at what happened, it was slightly frightening. There was a target on his head now. Perhaps he should leave for a while... The thought quickly left his mind the moment he looked through one of the windows and saw Indigo. Adrian stopped walking and smiled. A small chat with the wolf would help. Just as he stepped inside the bakery, a ceramic mug fell to the ground, breaking into pieces. âYouâre so clumsy,â he teased the other man before helping him pick up the pieces. âYou okay? This isnât... A symptom is it?â

Being so focused on the kiss, Adriel hadnât even noticed that her own hands had stopped twitching until Adrian pulled away. She removed them from his neck and stared at them for a few more seconds - as if testing to see if they were back to normal again. âYes, definitely,â she answered, a redness covering her cheeks as she met the vampireâs gaze, then hastily looked down at the broken glass before her. âMaybe you could, uh, help with this one, too. I can go get the broom for you.â
The flush on her cheeks was such a nice color... The blood rushing up... He couldât help but lick his lips before focusing on what it was she was saying. âWhatever you want, mia regina.I can go grab it though, no big deal.â Turning downward, he finally, truly noticed what a mess they had. âOr I could wait for you outside patiently. I mean, this is your job,â he teased.Â

Adrielâs breathing leveled off into a normal pace as her mind lost focus of everything else but what was happening in that moment. She let her hands be guided to his neck, placing them in the groove. Despite their trembling, she managed to hold on to him - he was her anchor in that moment in more ways than one. The witch was pulled into the vampireâs embrace, and she was much closer to him than she had ever been before. She felt safe from everything in that moment, and she had fleeting thought of how much sheâd like to enjoy that feeling for more than just one time.
It could have been seconds or minutes or hours, but he finally realized that her hands were no longer trembling. And that was the whole point of kissing her, wasnât it? Giving her bottom a tug, he pulled away, leaning his forehead onto hers. His thumb rubbed small circles into her shirt-covered side as he stared at her. âFeel better?â He asked, a smile on his lips. Adrian gave her side a squeeze before taking a step back, looking down at the glass. âYou sure my speed wonât be of any help with this?â

The breathing was helping - but minimally. All the witch could think about was the mess sheâd made, and because of it, everything that was getting worse and worse. The twitching in her hands had been occurring more and more frequently, but despite it all, she still tried to power through it. Adriel wouldnât let herself get sick, not when thereâs so many people in town who need help. And yet, now it seemed that more and more that Adriel was deteriorating, and it scared her. âI-I donât think I-can,â she breathed, stammering over her words. Her heart was beating rapidly in her chest - but it only increased when the vampire placed his lips on hers. She couldnât process it for the first moment, only widened her eyes in response. And, somehow, the kiss managed to distract her from everything else. Her problems alleviated, and slowly, Adriel melted into the kiss.
It didnât work, her heart was still beating at a quickened pace, in fact, he could have sworn he only made it worse. And just as he was about to pull away, he felt a shift. He took it as a good sign. Anything to help a friend. Adrian tilted his head ever-so slightly to deepen the kiss. He gently squeezed her still trembling hands and placed them on the sides of his neck. Maybe, if they had something to do, they wouldnât shake anymore. His now free hands moved to her hips, pulling her into his chest. He heard the glass crunch under her feet, but it was fine, or at least he didnât mind it.Â
