@adrianlancaster
"Nope, I’m not the kind to have a specific girl, so to speak. I like my freedom." He shrugged as they walked, his gaze fixed on the path ahead, trying to remembering the way to the closest sushi bar. He only turned to look at Adrian as she started to speak, but then cut herself off. "You know I get more intrigued when people do that. What was that you wanted to say? C’mon, you can tell me, I promise not to laugh nor say it’s stupid."
Adrian smiled an amused smile, "Having a girlfriend does not take your freedom." She pointed out, glancing over her shoulder at him. "I think it would be good for you." She knew he said he wasn't the type, Adrian was just convinced he hadn't found the right person yet.
Adrian ran a hand through her short hair and shrugged, "Nah it isn't like that." She sighed and glanced ahead. "I was just wondering how my family is doing.." She said quietly. It was a touchy subject for her. One that was better left untouched. But she couldn't help but worry about them, think about them, and Zane was the only person she knew who knew them.
You know, like this.
"Sushi it is then, mademoiselle.” Zane replied with a wide smile, but still a bit surprise of her choice. He didn’t think she was the kind of person who enjoyed Japanese food. "Avoiding telling the truth isn’t technically a lie, is it? So, there’s your answer. Keep those things you know the other won’t like about you to yourself. That’s the best advice I can give you." He picked up his jacket, and followed his cousin to the door. "You’re starting to sound like those girls." He snapped back, obviously joking. "I always have my eyes set in some targets, I thought you knew this by now."
Adrian grinned and started out towards the streets, they could walk to sushi. Wherever it was. "Oh, those girls. Damn, I'll work on it. " She smirked at him and shrugged, "Well there are always girls, but I was hoping there might be a specific girl." She explained, opening the door for him.
"Zane-" She started but shut her mouth then, thinking twice on what she was going to say and she shook her head. "Nevermind."
OOC: Hey guys. I've been pretty absent on starters lately. School has been kicking my ass. But I'm still here. If you want to plot, please just shoot me a message. (: I can easily keep up with paras when I get busy. A small break to reply is nice. So far I don't owe any paras, but I am only in two. You guys should message me :3 I miss this rp.
"Exactly. So I’m not showing off, not at all."
A smile touched his lips at the comment of his name. He thought it was alright but hell, he would take any kind words he could get.
"Very silly name and a bloody mouth full if you ask me. I mean why not pick something shorter and more practical. Imagine trying to fit that into a normal every day sentence. I always feel silly."
Adrian laughed lightly, putting her hands in her pockets as they spoke. "You've got a point. Tomorrow person really does tack on an unneeded amount of syllables."
"So what's brought you around here, Nolan?"
Not Again || Stephen & Adrian
"No." He answered. "ULTRA is reading teleproting signals. What do you think it’s going to happen when they see two signals here? Mine and yours?" Stephen whispered, but the tone of his voice revealed both worry and anger. He couldn’t believe she did it.
"You’re teleporting here because you’re longing your family." He sighed, frustrated. "Adrian, you chose this, ok? You should know better not to. Do I have to cuff you during the nights? … I mean… Oh god. Youj know what I mean."
Adrian had a million thoughts running through her head as Stephen spoke, but she got the message. They would have to leave, soon. However when he started to speak again, and the frustration was evident in his voice, she couldn't help but get a little spark of anger. She shoved him a little, just so he was farther back and not so much in her face. "I know what I chose!" Every was said in a whisper, but the anger was relevant. "We aren't all as lucky as you are, Stephen! I left five years ago, and I haven't seen them since. Because I got someone killed and I won't let that happen to them. I'm sorry I think about them before I go to sleep and that I dream about them and apparently have been longing to come home. I know what I chose, but it doesn't mean it's easy." Her frustration died near the end and she had to blink to keep the tears of anger, frustration and loss out of her eyes. She knew she had broken every person's heart in this house. And that was an awful lot of guilt to carry around. "They're in high school now." She whispered, eyes casted towards the doorway. "My youngest brother was eight when I left."
"I don't care if you cuff me when I sleep. Maybe that'll keep me in once place." Her eyes went away from the direction of the stairs and back up to Stephen. "We should go."
Hey guys. I'm off for a couple of days, no internet. I'll be back later in the week. See ya!
"Mmmmnah." He disagreed.
"Showing off would be teleporting a moving double-decker bus into a dessert to take out one single bad guy and save the girl." He joked, chuckling softly before his eyes fixed back on the girl. “You’re welcome, Names Nolan, and seeing you are not completely freaked out by my antics I can only assume you are like me. Tomorrow person?”
"I swear I’m going to shoot the guy who picked the name."
Adrian laughed, "That's just over the top." She said, smiling up at him. She always forgot how much human interaction made her happy. "Nolan, that is much nicer sounding then 'show off'." She said, holding out her hand to shake his. "Dumb name, not going to lie though, sometimes I think it sounds pretty cool."
"Oh, you sure can." Zane chuckled with a slight eye roll at Adrian’s reply, but not making any further comment. "I’m in the mood for either italian or sushi. But you can pick whatever, I don’t mind. I can even lower my expectations and go for pizza." Even though he joked at the end, he didn’t mind where they were heading, he hadn’t seen his cousin in quite a while, so he was okay just with spending time with her.
"I don’t think this is the way people advise on how to keep a healthy relationship, if you even want one, but the less secrets the other knows about you the better." He shrugged. "Like I said, some girls are very sensitive, and they don’t take bluntness as well as others. If I set my eyes on someone, I just go for it."
"Sushi!" Adrian answered with a grin, that wasn't as easy to steal and she rarely had enough money to go buy it. Italian was easy to cook, and good for lots of meals. Adrian had pasta, frequently.
"You're telling me mixed signals here, Zane. To lie or not to lie?" She asked with a soft smirk. She started towards the door. "Mmm, so you're an ass?" She asked, just teasing him. "Anyone lately your eyes have been set on?"
"Wha? This one? "
He teleported to pick up a white rose and teleported back in front of her, offering for her to take.
"Eh, its nothing special."
Adrian smirked a little, taking the rose and shaking her head some.
"You're quite the show off." She teased, looking down at the rose. "Thank you, Show Off."
"Oh, and what was that?"
"A pretty impressive trick."
I saw that.
"Safe? I’m sorry, maybe you failed to notice the bullets whizzing past our heads.”
"How the hell am I supposed to live on the edge if I’m d e a d?”
"We were going to fast for them to hit us anyway."
"Okay, you have a point. We'll tone it down next time."
Caught || John & Adrian
He was on a run himself when he glanced a girl teleporting items into her pack. It was a very quick slip of the hand to do so, but he knew what it looked like when he saw it. He walked up to her quickly, a crumpled twenty in his hand, bending down to pretend to scoop it up. “Hey, I think you dropped this.” Extending his hand, he offered her the bill. Keeping his mind blank and filled with useless trivia, he let his lips curve into a kind smile. He knew how it could be, running around NYC and trying to stay alive, especially at her age. Whatever drew their genetically enhanced fellows to the Big Apple was still a mystery to even him. He reached out, grabbing his own bottle of water and holding it in his hand, tilting it back and forth and making the water remain still. It was a subtle sign, to show her that he was just like her. “I’m John.” He said simply, watching her, and silently praying she wouldn’t take off. The blonde didn’t want to give chase today. It drew too much attention.
Adrian turned around, a little confused as to the stranger who was stopping her. He handed her a bill and she was going to claim it wasn't her's, but then she thought better of it. She needed the money after all. It wasn't until a couple of seconds later, when she noticed the subtle use of his powers that she had been caught. But he wasn't angry.
She realized then that he'd just given her the twenty and she smiled, weakly, but smiled. "John." She didn't give him her name, not quite yet. "I don't need to be hauling ass from you right now, do I? Because that sounds like an awful lot of energy I don't want to use." She did do a sweep of the place though, looking for anyone who could be working with him. Any agents or whoever it was that caused her to run away in the first place.
