Aimee huffed, leaning back. She was in a mood and she really wanted Adrian to be there for her, but she was too stubborn to say so. “Yeah, you know me. I always find a way to keep moving.” She gave him a small smile. His eyes were so striking, she kept finding herself getting distracted by them. “How are you doing? I mean….how’s your mom?”

Withdrawing his hand, Adrian felt his jaw clench slightly. Being around her was nearly as frustrating as being with her. Still, he couldn’t help but seek out her company. “I’m good. Mom? She’s...well, not surprisingly loving the weirdness of it all. Your mom?”

“I guess the saying no news is good news is true. Still, it’s nice to see you’re alive and well for myself.” Reaching out, he brushed part of Aimee’s hair behind her ear, a tender gesture leftover from the time they spent dating. Truth be told, as different as they were, Adrian hadn’t wanted to break up with her. She’d suggested it in a fight and he’d concluded that if that’s how she’d felt, there was no need to continue their relationship. Still, he found that their paths crossed each other quite frequently.
