Heya, guys!!

My previous account @adskayapanda was limited (added to shadowban, and I can't solve this problem and don't know how to solve it to be honest) also the painland week account @painlandweek was added to the shadowban, so I don't know how to deal with this either. For now I'll be on this new account, and then maybe I'll decide what to do. I really hope that the painland week account will work as before. I have a new post for it for tomorrow and I want to check how it will affect him. Keep it active, please. I don't understand what the problem is yet, except for limiting messages and replies, since that account is only used for reblogging content, but I feel really sorry for my old account. Maybe you know what can be done? If so, you can always reply and write to me here. For now I'll try to limit my activity so that this account doesn't get blocked too.

This thought isn’t fully coherent, but

The way Charles acts towards the Cat King and Monty. I’ll maintain firmly that Charles’s primary issue with Thomas was that Edwin was keeping secrets that were clearly upsetting him, and for Monty’s part Monty really was quite rude to Charles, but, still. Charles definitely seems to have instincts to get between Edwin and people who are attracted to Edwin, which he has to actively suppress when Edwin seems to be attracted back. (Charles chills out about Monty when he thinks Edwin is actively choosing Monty, but gets immediately physically combative when he gets a clearer view of the situation with Thomas, which Edwin has not chosen.)

Meanwhile, Edwin seems to be utterly unaware that he is, not to put too fine a point on it, beautiful. Bullies/family/teachers made him very aware that he’s effeminate, I’m sure, but he’s so oblivious, pre-canon, to the fact that he’s desirable that he literally got killed for it.

So I’m wondering how much time Charles has spent putting himself between Edwin and unwanted attention that Edwin never even realized was there?

How many people have given Edwin a too-hungry up-and-down when they walked into the office, only to be sent right back out because Charles “got really bad vibes from them, Edwin, and you remember what happened last time we ignored the bad vibes.”

How many people have gotten a little too handsy, which Edwin just pulled back from thinking they were being rude, only to find Charles somehow standing between them and Edwin with Death in his eyes?

Edwin and Charles have kissed each other every New Year’s since 2000; not kiss kisses but quick pecks against the temple because they had no one else to kiss, and they were together, and there were fireworks in the sky, and… and it just felt the thing to do.

The New Year’s of 2025, fireworks rise over London and Charles leans forward for Edwin to press his lips against the sensitive hollow of his temple for a split-second as he has done twenty-five times before - and he doesn’t. He just gazes up at the sky, lights reflected in his eyes.

And, Charles realizes, it hurts. It’s agonizing.

He has spent months failing to understand something that he now manages to figure out before 12:00 switches to 12:01.

The thuds of the fireworks match the thudding of his non-existent heart, and he watches them bloom in Edwin’s eyes as he leans in.

It’s still midnight when his lips meet Edwin’s, and he has one moment to think, half-hysterically, I always thought the fireworks were meant to be metaphorical, before all his thoughts are lost to a blissful haze that champagne could never match.

half-baked thought: every once in a while, edwin and charles spend some time telling each other what they look like in various details. it's an attempt at helping each other reform a mental self-image, which started after charles realized he was forgetting what he looks like and edwin admitted he can't really remember beyond pale with dark hair. charles likes talking about the way edwin stands while they do this, mentions his poise and grace, as well as the strength of his brow and shoulders. he kind of uses it as a time to gas edwin up after understanding that edwin thought himself very plain and weak. edwin, for his part, likes talking about charles's hair, jewelry, colorful clothes, and friendly smile. he mentions that charles is a bit like a lit-up sign of kindess that warms you more and more with time spent under its glow, wanting to impress upon his friend how even though he does in fact look "a bit punk" when he wants to, he's never scary.
