This week was exhausting, tbh. I’m not entirely sure as to why, but I’ve felt behind all week with everything I’ve done. I’m really looking forward to the extra time I’ll get back after finishing the Deadpool, Samurai Jack, and Arkham Asylum videos. After those are finished, Ill be on an easier schedule, one video with production value every day and one twitch stream every night. In other bad news, my Avengers video had a problem with the footage of me in the video and I had to publish without the picture in picture. I’m hoping that I my PlayStation that I use to capture my footage isn’t dying on me. Challenges may create problems but also lessons to learn for future predicaments. Sometimes you have to flow with the situation and do the best you can with what you have.
I had a week, let me tell ya. Work was rough, meanwhile I’ve broken up with my latest fling, rearranged my apartment to better serve my needs as a content creator and only missed making one Fall Guys video due to the chaos. Any ways, I just finished the Minecraft series I’m doing, A Dude of Ice and Fire, and it was so much fun to play through. I purchased this Minecraft pack from the store in-game and made a series out of it, it was fun because it gave Minecraft a story to play through instead of just open world survival. I’m considering continuing this kind of miniseries into the PlayStation 5 but I’m going to have to look through the library to see if there is anything I would enjoy showcasing. I’ve also started a new series which is a transitioning point for the channel, Far Cry 5. I loved the game the first time I played it and I’m already falling in love with it again as I get started. I’m going to take these videos and try to learn how to create content that will be helpful for the audience. I did a quick run through of a Cult Outpost, “Liberate Baron Lumber Mill” and found collectables there and my immediate thought is, I’m not trying to showcase that in this video, but hey it’s here, so it’s part of this video now. I’m going to have to spend my free time watching how some of the other guys do this sort of video making, because with a game like Arkham, it’s easy to skip Riddlers’ trophies and later make content specifically driven to those, but how do I do that in a game that I have never played before and am now trying to show others how to play. I’m glad I have until February to practice. And on that note, I do now have Minecraft completed and gone from the roster, which, once along with Samurai Jack and Deadpool, will give me an immense amount of time to focus more on becoming a better editor.

This week I took the time to rearrange my apartment. I made this decision for two reasons, one, I recently ended my relationship and felt like a change in furniture layout would be a great way to reclaim my apartment as my own space. And two, I wanted to reorganize so that I had space to relax and enjoy my time that wasn’t the same space that I use to create my videos and do any other projects that I have. Since I moved in this last May, and I tried to organize my apartment so that my content creation workspace and my relaxation area were one in the same, I and find myself getting the least of both by trying to have them occupy the same area. Now I have an area in which I can walk away from my personal projects and truly take time to relax and destress. By trying to have them together I would sit down to relax and then find a project to work on instead of just relaxing. Now I do this because I am a strong believer in mental health, and I believe everyone needs a space where they can go to completely relax and let the stress of life go. I do take great pride in being a hardworking, self-motivated individual, that always has a project or a hobby to complete, but if I don’t also take the time for leisure, I become stressed out. So I’ve rearranged my apartment because I value my mental health and stability, and I now have a more comfortable living space to come home to.
I’ve made a decision, beginning as soon as possible upon the release of Far Cry 6, aDudeist-Priest Gaming will be focused on creating content that is aimed at providing a service, and that is helping others to complete all trophies that will come with this game. This decision comes with the interest being able to focus on playing and creating for one main game at a time. Upon the launch of the Far Cry 6, All content will shift to the focus of PlayStation 5 games. With the exception of Friday the 13th on late night Fridays and Fall Guys, and this is because I enjoy playing these two games and content is fairly easy to make for these continuous projects of passion.
Until the point of this transition with the channel, the schedule for the remaining ‘A Dude Plays’ series’ is as follows:

As these individual series end, I will be replacing the time slot with the games that are larger that those also remaining as I wish all of these games need to be finished by the transition to Far Cry 6 and the PlayStation 5. Viewers may notice that some series’ have been canceled, and yes, No Man’s Sky, Grand Theft Auto V, and Red Dead Redemption 2 are no longer a part of our channel. This decision was made because No Man’s Sky and Grand Theft Auto didn’t have a focus point and Red Dead is simply too large to make it to the deadline.
So begins the end of the first videos, and with them, the ‘A Dude Plays’ series. As I begin to get towards the finalizing of my plan for where I want the channel to go to in March, it becomes clear that as I focus, so must my channel. So I have decided to choose between five games to focus my channel on. I may even do two, the goal here is to drive focus towards a channel that provides purpose. As a gamer without being a content creator, I would 100% games just for the challenge. I feel like I can do that for my channel. I could still play my favorite games, but I need to change the way I focus my video and the commentary. But if I focus on a single game for as long as it takes to complete everything and make focus driven videos for the trophy and achievement hungry gamers. I used to be the person going to YouTube for answers on where and what to find, now I could be the one making those videos and providing that assistance. The games include:

To me it’s really difficult, because I want to focus on all of them, but I know I should just do one. I will have to sleep on this for some time, think about what it is I want to do specifically as and with my channel. I will not be doing any further playthrough videos, and I plan to have more highly edited videos that I am releasing, less frequently but hopefully with a greater impact and response to and from the community. I know and fully understand how futile getting into the Batman YouTube video content can be when staggered next to a giant like ‘Batman Arkham Videos’ so I won’t even touch Suicide Squad or Gotham Knights going forward in Phase III. I plan to spend three months on the first game, achieving every goal, platinum the game and help others achieve the same greatness. This will be fun, but it will be work.
I am really starting to get into the swing of things with all of this. Yesterday I came to the conclusion that my PlayStation 4 only has the ability to make about 5 videos a day, while I have the ability to make 8. I started noticing that my audio and video were not syncing quite as well as I would like it to, and ended up with 2 videos that I’m just gonna have to live with and 1 that took a good amount of editing to get it looking decent. I’m not sure if I was over working the particular drives that capture my gameplay, vocals, and video, but I am certain that I need to work on less projects in a single day. Just to state, my personal best is 8 videos in a day, I wonder if I can top that? We might find out with the PlayStation 5. Last Night, South Park aired its’ Pandemic Special, and I wasn’t about to miss a potential opportunity to guide traffic to my channel, so I made a Stick of Truth episode and got it online about an hour after the episode aired on Comedy Central, and hopefully, the increased traffic to that one video will help build my audience. The Grand Theft Auto V video that I uploaded this week was a favorite of mine for the work I’ve done recently, for some reason the lobby I placed in allowed for a great start to a video and the circumstances in which I was trying to play, led to an expected but disliked ending, but funny for the audience, which is why I kept it. That’s it for today, I got to get back to the grindstone and get rolling on the last two videos for the week. Peace, Love, Buds, See You Next Time.
An update on my progression. I’ve learned a few methods to go about making thumbnails for my videos. I’ve chosen a font that I love and is easy to read against a background. I’ve found a format that I think is effective. Only time will tell if my efforts pay off, but my channel is starting to look more professional now. I even saw one of my videos posted as a watch next list for a different content creator. I have to say, seeing my work sitting next to the work of content creators that have over 2 million subscribers was kind of fulfilling. It made me feel like maybe, just maybe, this is starting to come together. I’ve thrown a couple of thumbnails onto this blog, please let me know what you think of my work.
After beginning with Red Dead Redemption, I searched for a text creation website and found a font that I absolutely love, my only problem that I will be having with this, is that the webpage I have been utilizing must stay open. I’m going to try to find a work around for this for long term use of this particular font and color pattern. When doing the Friday the 13th thumbnail, I discovered a format that is beginning to really work for me, I like the “A Dude Plays” little, directly above the title of the game of the video. I will explore more on the exact formatting I want to have generally across all of my videos. But I must say that with the power of two PlayStation 4 consoles and one laptop, creating content for sixteen games will be a tedious task, thankfully, I’ve laid forth a plan in which Phase 2 will lighten my workload and streamline the games that aren’t as meticulous in their cross from gameplay to video. For example, Red Dead and Assassin’s Creed have a lot of travel time to cut out for the final project, where as with Friday, Minecraft, and Samurai Jack, I have almost no editing as the game is keeping enough going on throughout the entirety of the video. The worst affiliate of open travel for editing to cut is No Man’s Sky. I have to play that for almost two hours just to obtain enough actual content for 25 minutes. That game will stay a single episode a week throughout this YouTube adventure I’m on, at least until I have a reason to fill the time slot with a different game. I have found that the most difficult part of this is eating, which is a good thing. Focusing my time on this means I have the natural drive to continue building this hobby into what I hope it can be. I do, of course, need to eat though, finding time to is usually also editing time, while a certain portion is either uploading, downloading, or rendering, is when the content creator gets to slay that beast called hunger. Not a plug or anything, but I have found Chunky Soup to be a perfect content creators fuel source. It doesn’t require much effort for preparation and clean up is a quick rinse in the sink and back to work. Also caramel center vanilla drumsticks with the chocolate and the crushed nuts on top are the greatest dessert when working late nights on videos. Tomorrow is Spider-Man and Avengers then a late night Fall Guys, then my two days off from creating. I usually play around doing anything outside of the content I’m working on, this is when I’ll get the quick clips of Grand Theft Auto V or Rocket League, with Predator Pals pretty much disbanded focusing on creating a recording schedule has taken an ease. The Pals started because of quarantine and ended with it, one by one, we all went back to school, work, and regular life. We got each other through the times stuck inside and thankfully, a little bit of that was captured and given to the world for it’s reminder that even in the crazy times, people can still get together and have some laughs.
Thumbnails
Today begins with a new challenge, incorporating thumbnails into my YouTube Content. By this I mean, I need ad must start creating thumbnails for the links to my YouTube channel. This will inevitably slow down production during Phase 1 of my channel. The key will be organizing a proper schedule to accommodate for recording and editing three videos, thumbnail creation, school work, real work, two dogs and a girlfriend. I don’t sleep. But I believe I can do it, I believe I have the ability to achieve this, if anybody can give this kind of commitment to achieving his goals, it is me. I’m The Dude, with respect to the Original Dude of course, I’m The Dude that gets things done. This is how I got to where I am at my current occupation, this is how I got to management in my previous places of employment, I put in the work. If anybody can do this, I can. Don’t get me wrong, I’d like to gain popularity on YouTube for a reason, but that reason is not to have a career on YouTube. I’m working on something big, a video game, and if I already have face with the world, releasing my work will receive attention. This is my endgame essentially. I believe my final product will be worth all these years of work. I believe what I am creating and doing is going to have an impact in the industry. I believe, my vision will be something that brings joy and entertainment to a lot of people who enjoy gaming.
So I got a tooth pulled.
Not really a big deal, the dental surgeon was really good, the whole event didn’t take that long at all. It unfortunately set back my production for the day. I did however play some Grand Theft Auto and got to meet a new group of people that I’ll be able to play with. So all in all it was a pretty good day, despite the mild torture I endured this morning, it was a decent day off.
Learning Experience
So today after I finished recording, I of course went back in to edit the footage, take out the black load screens, resets if I died, etc. and I noticed my three different audio, video, and game feed were not in sync. This was particularly annoying as I can’t change the audio video recording of myself, I can only move that video placement along a parallel with the game feed. So after a long editing process of trying to match moving lips on a muted video to a game feed volume, I am proud to say I did my best. I don’t know exactly how this glitch occurred, but if anybody has had this experience recording with a PlayStation 4 system, let me know some tips and tricks. I’m at the understanding that this is because I exceeded 25 minutes on my recording, so my first step towards solving this problem is to limit my individual video recording length and piece together the smaller videos in the final project.
This Last Week
So I began this week trying to rework both the series schedule and my apartment. To begin, I have sat down and figured out a schedule that will maximize the current content in which I am creating. I plan to now release 15 videos a week, 12 individual games, Fall Guy’s having reoccurring videos throughout the week. Once I get done with the quicker story mode games, Phase 2 will begin and the schedule will shift so that I can get more games that are being watched by the majority of viewers. I will always have a story mode game to play per day, but Phase 2 will have more re-occurring videos throughout the week instead of just the single episode per week series that I currently have. I also moved somethings in my apartment around so I could gain the ability to have picture in picture for my videos. Now aDudeist-Priest can be viewed while he plays, so the viewer can see my physical reactions as well as hear my vocalized responses. It’s been fun getting that up and running, and I had to learn a lesson, keep my recording times to under half an hour or the video starts to experience technical difficulties. My Red Dead Video ran about 39 minutes and the audio and the video got out of sync, unable to be fixed, so I had to post with just the game footage. But hey, I’m doing all this to learn the tricks and tidbits.
A Dude’s Blog- Why I’m Here
Welcome to aDudeist-Priest’s Tumbler, I am aDudeist-Priest, you can call me Priest, and I run a YouTube Channel. On my channel I post original content that is a collection of experiences while playing video games. My channel is dedicated to humor and entertainment, though I do not consider my fellow gamers or myself to always be appropriate for all ages. That being said, we have an amazing amount of fun making the videos, and it is my pleasure to edit them down to be shared to YouTube. A bit of history on myself, I’ve been playing video games for 27 years. I remember always having a system plugged into a TV, as it turns out my Great Uncle bought me my first Nintendo NES at a garage sale when I was 5 and gave it to my mother. This all began for me with Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Bart Simpson vs The World. It was the foundation needed to kick start a life long passion that has grown to me having beaten over 400 video games across almost 3 decades of portable and stationary video game consoles. I could go on and on about the experiences I’ve had, but I’ll save those for future blogging. What I really want to do in life is just 1 game. I’ve taken all of the adventures I’ve been on, and I’ve taken all of the lessons learned as a player along the way, and I’ve began designing one massive open world game. I will not be giving anything away until the time is right, but this is what I continue to educate myself for, this is what I continue to build towards accomplishing. It will be my masterpiece. But, at this point, my Mona Lisa is still at the dress shop deciding which one to be painted in, it’s not even close to ready, years to go in progress and development. That being said, I will be using this particular platform to organize my thoughts and have a place to recall things that I may have forgotten along the way.
