”Come back. I ain’t finished with you yet.”
Some rope fun for your friday.
I’ve been plonking at this vampirellaesque piece for a couple of days. Drawing gothic stuff always feels so comfy even though the sun is now shining. Should I do some more? Witches? Universal monsters? Lovecraftian stuff? Gimme some ideas.
The text at the bottom is from W. Scott Poole about Vampira (Maila Nurmi). The full quote is ”Of course it's kitsch, and of course our love for every cult figure gets called kitsch when we want to separate the suffering it requires to create a symbol that lives in the world from the ravages of one's own life.”
Good hunting! This version in living colour.
Good hunting out there!
It's good to take some breaks from time to time. Be good to yourselves.
Rebloggin my biggest single "thing" last year 2024. Would love to do more comic stuff. Also started doing Bluesky just to get in on some sort of sane Social Media platform (Tumblr being also one of the better ones).
Trying to level up my rendering. How did I do?
Yeehaw!

CHOOSE YOUR CHARACTER!
Had really fun making this. Originally was gonna do a "lewd" version also but I feel like this is fine as it is.
Many mythological characters have gone through deep re-interpretations throughout the years but Medusa has to be one of the most changed ones. The original Greeks didn't think too highly of her. In the stories she appears there is very little sympathy even though she was cursed through no fault of her own. Aaaaaand then she gets her head lopped off. Oof. With modern analysis I think medusa has gained both sympathy and moreover become somewhat of a feminist icon. The same thing that basically happened to witches and other female "monsters". I too think that thinking of medusa as reveling in her magical form is way too much fun not to showcase her that way. You go girl!
Work in progress.
