British paratroopers carrying a wounded comrade near Oosterbeek
German soldier armed with an MG 34 in a foxhole, 1943.
Photographer: Franz Grasser
General Harpe’s 12. Panzer-Division enters Minsk in the last days of June 1941. Note the Panzer IV Ausf. E at the left, which is equipped with a very rare feature on tanks of this type — the smoke dischargers typical of the Panzer II. The tank is also devoid of a turret basket. In its place are hanging several stick grenades. Also interesting are the markings painted on the rear of the motorcycles. Each of them carriers divisional emblems (the one with sidecar even has two) in yellow and tactical markings in white.
